Open innovation has strong roots in both academia and industry and resulted in the adoption of this practice across all departments of companies. This paper discusses different criteria needed to adopt open innovation in the product development process. The research explores open innovation in product development based on company needs, strategic planning and managerial preferences. The conceptual framework of this paper was developed from open innovation and management science-related literature. A total of 60 intensive open innovation dependent companies were surveyed in 20 countries concerning the product development process. Statistical techniques were used to analyse the data. The collected data helped to identify six crucial preferences of companies to adopt open innovation. The results provided validation of the conceptual framework and ranked the priorities based on managers' opinions.

With the increasing deployment of photovoltaic panels (PVs) in buildings’ rooftops within urban environments, architects and engineers beyond considering electricity production benefits, they also look at patterns of pedestrian thermal comfort and urban climates. We aim in this paper to assess the impact of PVs on the micro climate. We adopted a micro scale study and we chose a 44 × 44 m2 area in the heart of the city of Casablanca, the Moroccan economic capital. Through numerical predictions, two simulations are run, the first one is the reference simulation corresponding to the actual state of our study area (without PVs), and the second is the one fully covered by PVs. A comparison between the two simulations shows that PVs cause a warming effect during the evening and night-time. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Motor Imagery (MI) based Electroencephalography (EEG) Signals analysis plays an important role in Brain- Computer Interface (BCI) which is used in several applications such as controlling the wheelchair by motor impaired patients, as recovery gadgets for stroke patients, as an input apparatus for several gaming devices. EEG signals are used in several application since, classification process of the signal is made automatic and more accurate using deep learning techniques. In recent days several deep learning architectures were used for analyzing the EEG signal effectively with the availability of large amounts of data. Deep learning techniques for MI based EEG analysis is surveyed from 2015 to 2020 to give a detailed description of various newly designed classification techniques. How the EEG signals are analyzed in each and every phase of its processing is also explained along with its accuracy. In today’s highly competitive environment, the high speed of evolutions has increased the uncertainty of decisions, which creates a high level of uncertainty in the supply chain and impairs its ability to predict future conditions. To plan better and more accurately, reliable planning should be performed. One of the reliable approaches is robust optimization. In this study, a forward oil supply chain is considered to minimize the shipping costs as well as the number of loads under certain and uncertain conditions. To solve the model under certain conditions, two meta-heuristic algorithms, including particle swarm optimization (PSO) and multi objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) are used, and in the uncertain condition, the Mulvey approach is implemented. The object identification, detection and tracking them in the individual video frames are an expensive and highly recommended task for security and surveillance. This work expects to consolidate the procedure for object recognition with the objective of accomplishing high precision with a real-time performance. A significant test in huge numbers of the object detection frameworks is the reliance on other computer vision systems for helping the profound learning-based methodology, which prompts moderate and nonideal execution. A deep learning-based approach will be used to solve the problem of object identification in an end-to-end fashion. The framework is set up on the most testing straightforwardly open dataset (PASCAL VOC), on which an article revelation challenge is driven each year. The subsequent framework is quick and exact, along these lines helping those applications which require object detection. The Internet platform has been gaining increased popularity since the internet platform is a storehouse of knowledge that is extremely immense and varied. The size of the internet increases every day and more and more content is being added to the platform, which makes it difficult to access the information that is required. Therefore, various search engines are developed that enable searching for relevant webpages according to the query provided. The search results are mostly generalized and the results are fetched every single time the query is fired, which increases the load on the search engine which is not personalized according to the user. There is an immense need to personalize the web platform as it is beneficial to the provider as well as the user in achieving a streamlined approach that can be set according to the user's preferences and needs. Conducting qualitative research has drastically changed during this pandemic. Not only have conceptualizing and designing become challenging practices, but also dealing with the processes of data collection and analysis have presented challenges. The extension project titled "Diagnosis of the linguistic needs of San Ramón de La Virgen de Sarapiquí," aimed at collecting qualitative data during 2020 to determine the linguistic needs of the community. The main goal was to contribute to the design of an exclusive English Program to empower community members to better deal with their entrepreneurial projects based on rural tourism. The data of this exploratory study were collected and triangulated through a focus group interview, an online survey, and document gathering, and used thematic analysis to organize the linguistic needs. WebQDA was used to conduct digital semantic coding for the data collected during the focus interview. As the study took place amid the pandemic, some methodological adaptations took place to carry out data collection under the "new normality." The extension group reflected and designed specific protocols for the community members to engage them in technology use and present the results as comprehensive descriptions of the linguistic needs of the rural community. Nowadays, qualitative research should become a more reflective practice, and the participants—as well as their contexts—must be considered, as this pandemic is changing the way qualitative research is perceived and conducted. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The present age is the age of technology. People are increasingly using technology in their daily activities. That is why when we go to consider people’s attention to something, our head detection comes first. Detecting the head is not the only thing that ends here;the thing that is directly related to it is the eyeball movement. For example, when a student is studying, the level of attention means his concentration deeply. And the depth of this attention depends not only on the head movement but also on how many times his eyes are moving from left to right or from right to left. Because it is seen that looking at the same object at a glance does not mean that he is not paying attention, maybe he is thinking of something else or is immersed in another thought. And by using this motivation, eyeball and head movements play a vital role in the study. The system’s goal is to read the video frames and determine the number of eyeballs and head movements in real time. Eyeball and head movements from left to right and right to left are counted per minute. After one minute, the previous data will be refreshed, and new data will be recorded for the next minute. Thus, the system will give us the result of each minute movement numbers, and very nicely, our system can detect eyeballs and head movements in case of reading. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In this article, the data storing and processing capabilities of Apache Hadoop ecosystem and its components: Hive, Impala and Sqoop are demonstrated. Also, it demonstrates Python programming language’s capabilities in data analysis, plotting and statistical computing. It does so by exploring climate change problem, one of today’s most relevant and detrimental problems. Apache Sqoop was employed to migrate data from RDBMS system and store it into Hive database, where Hive and Impala were used for data processing and ELT. Finally, data was analyzed using Python, showing strong evidence for global warming presence, as well as exploring relationship between carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and climate change. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

For any security updation, software must be secure that can be analyzed at the early stage of requirements. All security analysis is prejudiced approach which follows certain rules, defined-laws. Models and policies made the software worthwhile. However, in today scenario, still there is a deficiency in security requirements. It has been observed that to capture security requirement a business goals must be fulfilled that helps to protect assets from threats. This is the reality that any security violation is caused openly by vulnerable software. A scrupulous review has carried out regarding the fact as there are many approaches that consists of policy, rules or any guidelines for secure requirement phase. Therefore, it is desirable to develop a prescriptive framework that addresses security at requirement phase.
