Networks are very important in the world. In signal processing, the towers are modeled as nodes (vertices) and if two towers communicate, then they have an arc (edge) between them or precisely, they are adjacent. The least number of nodes in a network that can uniquely locate every node in the network is known in the network theory as the resolving set of a network. One of the properties that is used in determining the resolving set is the distance between the nodes. Two nodes are at a distance one if there is a single arc can link them whereas the distance between any two random nodes in the network is the least number of distinct arcs that can link them. We propose two algorithms in this paper with the proofs of correctness. The first one is in lines with the BFS that find distance between a designated node to every other node in the network. This algorithm runs in O(log n). The second algorithm is to identify the integer k, such that the given graph is k-metric dimensional. This can be implemented in O(log n) time with O(n2) processors in a CRCW PRAM. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In this article, the data storing and processing capabilities of Apache Hadoop ecosystem and its components: Hive, Impala and Sqoop are demonstrated. Also, it demonstrates Python programming language’s capabilities in data analysis, plotting and statistical computing. It does so by exploring climate change problem, one of today’s most relevant and detrimental problems. Apache Sqoop was employed to migrate data from RDBMS system and store it into Hive database, where Hive and Impala were used for data processing and ELT. Finally, data was analyzed using Python, showing strong evidence for global warming presence, as well as exploring relationship between carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and climate change. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Features of skin cancer have a certain impact on computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. Researchers had used different techniques to experience with patterns. The melanoma lesion could also be identified with a different texture, shape, and clinical features. The proposed study has used 22 features of texture, 12 features of shape. The study has exposed three feature selection (FS) techniques like gradient boosting (GB), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and statistical approach. The features are evaluated with these methods and highlighted the effectiveness of each feature for the classification of melanoma. Selected key features have less than the cost of computation. The reduced feature set can make classification better than per the selection of the model. The random forest has the highest performance based on accuracy as it got the highest accuracy of 97.1% on GB feature sets. Decision tree and K-nearest neighbors have shown a decent accuracy of 96.8 and 93.3% on GB feature sets. The study rewards upcoming explorations to select an effective subset of features for machine learning and deep learning techniques. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

During our classes with students, doctoral students or while taking part in methodological workshops, we often hear some repeated questions: "Is it worth using the computer aided qualitative data analysis software and why?" and "Which program should I choose?". Having gathered sizable experience in the field, we can answer these questions saying that the use of CAQDAS makes the process of data analysis more systematic and transparent, and this "forces" to think about data and supports and in-depth analysis. At the same time, the use of CAQDAS requires a certain amount of effort and work due to the need to learn about the environment of given software, but also (or maybe first of all) to change the perspective, and often some habits concerning how a researcher’s workshop is organized. The choice of appropriate software is highly individual a matter and it requires a thorough consideration from its future user. Therefore, the primary objective we set as the authors of this paper is to present the perspective taken by qualitative researchers who use selected free CAQDAS applications. Our paper is intended mainly for novice CAQDAS users who we would like to advise on how to select appropriate software and familiarize them with the specifics of CAQDAS. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This research project presents the activities of a `relaxed performance' in the Segal Centre for the Performing Arts, situated in Montreal, Canada, to understand how transforming the environment supports both performers and audiences alike. It proceeds with four phases, embracing a participatory approach. A particularly innovative aspect of this project was the composition of a research team that included the researchers, Segal Centre employees, local community partners and cultural groups, and rehabilitation research centres in the greater Montreal area. The outcomes of this project are theatre-specific adaptations that will benefit the Centre for all future events. They include changes to the physical aspects of the environment, the security within the theatre space itself, the development of a tactile map as an accessibility technology, a linguistically accessible information pamphlet and audio description to provide auditory-access to the visual elements of the performance.

Construction of device for fuzzy chaos signal generation is valuable problem in the field of communication and practical application. In this paper, we propose three novel algorithms to help educators generate questions to evaluate learners’ comprehension of the learning material. First, we propose the Automatic Question Generator algorithm that automatically generates multiple-choice, true-or-false, and fill-in-the-blank questions from any arbitrary text. Second, we propose the Automatic Distractors Generator algorithm that automatically generates multiple wrong but relevant answers for the multiple-choice questions. Third, we propose the Automatic Answers Generator algorithm that automatically generates multiple synonyms to the correct answer of the fill-in-the-blank questions to be accepted as correct answers. Affective computing is a developing interdisciplinary examination field uniting specialists and experts from different fields, from artificial intelligence, natural language processing to intellectual and sociologies. The thought behind affective computing is to give computers the aptitude of insight that will, in general, comprehend human feelings. Notwithstanding these victories, the field needs hypothetical firm establishments and efficient rules in numerous regions, especially in feeling demonstrating and developing computational models of feeling. This exploration manages affective computing to improve the exhibition of Human-Machine Interaction. This work's focal point is to distinguish the emotional state of a human utilizing deep learning procedure, i.e., Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) containing parameters like three convolution layers, pooling layers, learning rates, two fully connected layers, batch normalizations, and dropout ratios. The Warsaw Set of Emotional Facial Expression Pictures dataset has been utilized to build up a feeling acknowledgment model, which will have the option to perceive five facial feelings, including happy, sad, anger, surprise, and neutral. The database was selected based on its validation study of facial display photographs. Dataset was split based on a 65:35 ratio for training and testing/validation, respectively. The proposed framework design and the strategy has been discussed in this paper alongside the experimental findings. Our model's recognition accuracy came out to be 80% and 83.33% for validation set 1 and validation set 2, respectively. The performance parameters have also been evaluated in terms of the confusion matrix, recall, and precision. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Semi Non-negative Matrix Factorization (SNMF) is a machine learning algorithm that is used to decompose large data matrices where the data matrix is unconstrained (i.e., it may have mixed signs). We develop the quantum version of SNMF using quantum gradient descent, and we show that the quantum version of SNMF provides an exponential speedup compared to its classical version. Our approach is well adapted for high-dimensional problems since in the context of using a quantum approach only a few number of iterations is enough to obtain a close approximation of the factorization. From the algorithmic analysis point of view, the proposed algorithm for Quantum Semi Non-negative Matrix Factorization (QSNMF) yields a performance TO(polylogK(M+ N) ), while the classical version of Semi Non-negative Matrix Factorization (SNMF) yields a performance TO(poly(KMN) ) where M and N are the dimensions of the matrix, K is the number of clusters and T is the maximum number of iterations to prepare the quantum states. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In Ecuador, the statistics presented by Educational Evaluation National Institution EENI register that 22.8% of the students from the Andean region and 18.3% from the coast, had insufficient grades in areas that include the study of science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). This study proposes the development of a physics mobile application that applies the methodology of gamification and increased reality to improve creativity, academic performance, the interaction between students and teachers (collaborative learning) and that is motivating and interesting for reinforce students' knowledge during use. For the development of the application, the theme will focus on the study of direct current electrical circuits. The proposed application will be made using the development environment called Scratch, which will allow us to create applications in a simpler and faster way with quite efficient results. On the other hand, the gamification methodology is applied which allows the student to use the application, learn, and reinforce their knowledge continuously. The functionalities that will make up the application will consist of the ease and versatility of building various associations of electrical resistances (series, parallel and mixed), circuits (batteries, variable and fixed resistors, motors, etc.) and the use of other components that allow students to set challenges and problems who will be able to solve them in a defined time. This application greatly encourages collaborative work and allows constant information by applying in-creased reality to electronic components. The application creates a safe and dynamic environment for learning since multiple tests can be carried out, fostering creativity, and developing reinforcement learning. The tests carried out have been satisfactory with students, carrying out a control group (traditional teaching) and a test group (with the use of the proposed application).
