Country parks in Hong Kong are often located close to residential areas. The waste produced by people living in village houses has affected park wildlife, and animals such as wild boars (Sus scrofa;feral pigs, wild swine, wild pigs) have attacked people for food. Wild boars have destroyed waste management and collection points. Using Hong Kong as a case study, this paper examines the interaction between wild animals and humans in a country park and aims to develop a waste management system for both. Country parks in which wild boars were settled were investigated. Cleaning contractor staff, village lot residents, and policy makers were invited for interviews. Design perimeters and primary physical designs were then generated for testing.

In initial teacher education, effective teaching practice is often only available in the 2(nd) year of the MA program after pre-service teachers have completed their (theoretically-oriented) first year. Typically, no prior preparation for the direct exposure to teaching practice is available. A pedagogical experiment was therefore conducted aimed at filling in this gap by engaging students in video-enhanced classroom observation during the first year of their initial teacher education program. This paper lays out the pedagogical experiment and reports on the students' perception of the benefits of classroom observation for the development of their teaching and reflection skills. Overall, the study reveals that preparation for the internship is significantly enhanced by the use of video which allows students to adjust their observation to their own pace and rhythm as well as encourage the joint analysis and discussion within a collaborative learning context.

The Philippine Government has yet to create a law standardizing tints in automobiles. Although many cities have different ordinances regulating the use of tints, a nationwide law has not yet been passed. Moreover, local government units have no supporting studies to justify their prohibition on the use of heavy tint films, and colored windshields. Thus, this study aims to determine the effects of various colored tints for windshields in terms of visual acuity, glare discomfort, and color perception at night. In order to simulate the different colored windshield tints, a cellophane of different colors (red, blue, green, and yellow) is attached to a viewing contraption. At a specified distance, the participants were asked to undergo a series of tests: (1) to gather data on visual acuity, the researchers made use of the Snellen chart;(2) to extract data on glare discomfort, a revised De Boer scale was used to rate the discomfort level of the HID light source;and (3) to assess color perception, participants were asked to evaluate colored targets using a viewing contraption. The data gathered was analyzed through the use of various statistical analyses such as the normality test, the Friedman test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the yellow tint is best used to enhance the sharpness of vision. Furthermore, yellow tint is among the best to use, alongside blue tint, in detecting primary colors. It is also discovered that the red, green, and blue colored tints best reduce the harmful effect of glare when applied to a high beam light source from an HID light. Lastly, the different colored tints do not differ in terms of glare discomfort when a low beam HID light source is used.

In developing countries like Nigeria, it is generally reported that confined space accidents and injuries are still prevalent in the industries, which could be due to several factors including-poor efficiency at managing confined space work activities and enforcing required legislation/standards following safe work practice. A case study research was carried out using both exploratory designs for a quantitative approach, and explanatory design for qualitative approach bring the approach to a mixed method choice for evaluation using Confine Space Regulation, 1997, Questionnaire and Observation as an instrument for data collection for analyses. Summary of findings are;Safe Working Procedure Reviewed before the start of work, Poor Use of Communication Methods, Poor Supervision, Failure to Use Personal Protective Equipment, Ignoring Safe Work Practice. Recommendations were made for the improvement of organisations system to enhance a safe process following best practice guidance;with the aim of reducing the level of accidents and fatalities to workers working within a confined space.

This study explored the knowledge of informal auto-mechanics welders on personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and their levels of occupational hazards awareness associated with the welding activity. Guided by OSHA's 2014 Hazards Assessment Checklist, and interviews, data was collected from three auto-mechanic shops engaged in welding activities in Volta Region of Ghana. Based on the analysis, it is established that the informal automechanic welders generally lack knowledge on significant PPE requirement associated with the welding activities. they also lack awareness of occupational hazards associated with physical elements of the welding activities, even though they showed semblance of awareness in relation to others that are chemical-oriented. It is concluded that though the informal auto-mechanics engaged in welding activities have the requisite expertise and skills to perform their tasks, their knowledge of PPE usage and their awareness levels of occupational hazards associated with the welding activities seemed to be generally constrained.

The establishment of a construction safety culture index is of specific significance as it offers an objective measurement of the status of safety culture on construction projects. Considering the dynamics and complexities in the construction industry, the safety culture on a project may differ from other projects. This paper formulates a safety culture index to quantify the level of safety culture on construction projects in developing countries using the fuzzy synthetic approach (fuzzy set theory). The safety culture index consists of six safety culture categories;these include management commitment, accountability, worker involvement, supervisory leadership, communication, safety education and training. Professionals in developing countries can use the safety culture index to objectively determine the status of safety culture in a more practical way. In addition, application of the safety culture index would be useful to efficiently and factually compare the relative safety culture levels of different projects for benchmarking purposes.

The main purpose of the article is to study the human factor in the technical systems and objects development, to develop a method of socio-economic design that ensures the safety of systems and objects and reduces the probability of accidents on them. The essence of the article lies in the fact that, according to the authors, the conditions for the safe operation of technical systems and objects should be created in the early stages of designing. At the same time, the safety function should be considered as the main function of the system/object being created, which determines their economic and structural characteristics. This position is proved in the article by analyzing the factors influencing the technical systems and objects creation. The proposed method of socio-economic design of technical systems and objects implies that determining their cost characteristics on the conceive step of their lifecycle is the most efficient if it is based on probabilistic approach. On the next steps of design process, such as concept design and detailed design, a designed construction's price should be estimated basing on its informational (parametric) complexity indexes.

Disorientation is an usual issue in many situations, namely during emergency into complex buildings. It may cause a lack of crucial time mainly during early evacuation stages, increasing the chance of harming. This exploratory study aims to investigate the influence of others over a personal route-choice decision during wayfinding into a complex building. A Virtual Reality-based methodology was used and a virtual hotel was adapted from Vilar [1] in order to present six T-shape intersections with two opposite corridors. Two conditions were considered, an everyday condition, that represents the occupant interaction in an ordinary situation, and an emergency condition, in which a fire occurs into the building. Virtual character was inserted in order to investigate the influence of others over a directional choice decision. Findings point to a social influence over wayfinding decisions, suggesting that it can be an important aspect to be considered by safety planners, graphical designers, architects, managers and all those related with safety into complex buildings.

Aim of the study is to compare the most relevant protocols for the assessment of the rehabilitative path of patient with lower limb prosthesis. The first one is the "Timed up and go", a test created to analyse balance disorders in adults. It was modified to quantify the mobility in adults with different pathologies. The test analyses the transition from the sitting to the upright position and vice versa after a walking distance of three meters. This test is quick and easy to perform, does not require special instruments or training, so it can be administered by any healthcare professional. The second one is the "2-minute walk test". It is proposed when it is difficult for the patient to support the walk for a longer time. Results from previous studies show that this test is particularly sensitive to clinical changes resulting from rehabilitation treatment;it is also practical, simple and quick to administer. One of the most used protocol in the field of prosthetics is the "K level" test. The method classifies patients in five levels that indicate the degree of activity that the amputee can sustain based on an assessment of the patient's current situation, including the status of the stump, the desire to walk and other pathological conditions. With this test it is possible to determine the components of the prosthetic aid best suited to the patient's activity levels. The "Locomotor Capabilities Index" is a questionnaire that allows to define the gait characteristics of prosthetic amputees and their level of independence. The "Russek's Code" protocol is used to measure the functional abilities of amputees with their own prosthesis. This test provides significant results for differences between patients of different ages and amputation level. However, these results require a fairly large sample of patients.
