This paper researched the pressure distribution on mattresses for different genders. A total of 72 subjects were selected in this experiment and the ratio of male and female was 1:1. Seven mattresses with different hardness were selected. The body pressure measure system (BPMS) was used to get the pressure distribution data, and subjective comfort evaluation questionnaire was used to get the subjective comfort score of the mattress. Results indicated that the back pressure and waist pressure of subjects with different genders were different. The back contact area, waist contact area and hip contact area of subjects with different genders were different, too. The subjective comfort evaluation was combined to determine the maximum pressure value and contact area recommendation value of different parts of the body, which can provide technical guidance for the ergonomic design of the mattress and reference for consumers.

This research subject is focused on the development of Low-Cost Assistive Technology, in Additive Manufacturing, for people with physical disabilities, aiming to improve the safety and health conditions at work. The objective of the study was to analyze assistive material for work activities and orthoses developed by the Group of Addictive and Tooling Manufacturing NUFER. The possibility of implanting an Additive Manufacturing Laboratory is also evaluated, establishing a partnership between the Federal Technological University of Parana and civil society, aiming to include people with disabilities in the work environment. This study is performed in the applied research field and it has as product creation methodology the proposal of NUFER of UTFPR Brazil. The data indicates the social relevance of such a project, since it helps to promote inclusion in the work environment, providing more safety, health and productivity.

Currently the Quality of Labor Life (QLL) has been studied only in formal work, regardless of economic conditions and employment policies have led to a substantial increase in the informal economy in our country. The informal worker is anyone who is part of a system of independent self-employment. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), about 60% of workers in Mexico serve on informal employment. The aim of this research was to evaluate the QLL in the informal economy workers in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara. Voluntarily participated 507 informal workers, satisfaction with the QLL was measured with the CVT-GOHISALO instrument adapted to workers in the informal economy, this instrument has a reliability of 0.92 with 50 items. As for the study population, 48% of workers were men and 52% women, the highest percentage was between 15 and 29 years. The most common high school education was 43%, 67% are between 1 and 15 years of working in the informal economy and 67% work between 6 and 10 h a day, 55% of the population had a low level of satisfaction with their QLL, 39% a medium level and 6% a high level. This study found that, within the conditions of workers in this sector, they have good economic benefits, avoid paying taxes and have more flexibility with schedules;however, they have low level of satisfaction with their QLL, they do not have access to occupational safety and health, many works in unhealthy conditions and are exposed to risks in the workplace.

Psychosocial risk factors are closely associated with organizational structure. Although psychosocial factors do not act directly like physical risk factors, still they exert a significant proportion in progression of the wrist disorders. The aim of this study is to identify the optimization points for psychosocial risk factors of CTS and other wrist disorders in present context. Asurvey was done among a cluster of subjects suffering clinically diagnosed wrist disorder in a group of workplaces. With the responses principal component analysis was done. The PCA extracted 4 psychosocial or organizational factors. The Stress factor contains 5 components. The job satisfaction factor consists of 4 components. The work environment factor also affects the total risk of wrist disorders. This factor is consisted of two components. The fourth important factor is reward factor in a workplace. These extracted factors can be used to reduce the risk of wrist disorders from organizational and work design perspective.

Chinese traditional aesthetic philosophy pursues "natural beauty", "essential beauty", "simple beauty" and "simple beauty". The aesthetic system in Chinese culture often ends up with a simple beauty. It can be seen from the Chinese poetry culture evaluation system that rhetorical beautiful poetry in Chinese history has never been the highest standard. As a representative work of Chinese poetry, the Book of Songs conquers the peak of poetry art. This is from the appreciation of beauty to the transcendence of beauty, but also from the process of understanding beauty to knowing beauty. Both the "category" and the "process" are expounding an ancient Chinese philosophical thought: the theory of "White Bi". The "White Bi" comes from the book of Changes, meaning no decoration. In the aesthetic system of ancient Chinese design culture, White Bi was regarded as the highest realm. In the end, it is still a natural concept of pursuing simplicity, turning the natural things and the universe and human factors into a state of harmony and *** has been more than 3,000 years since the birth of the theory of White Bi, representing the most traditional philosophical in China. Decoration is an essential element in design. The most important theory in the day is that the decoration will reach a pole and it will show a minimal state. Minimalist design is one of the manifestations of the theory of White Bi. The design of White Bi design has its unique way of communication. The design communication of White Bi is very important to human factors. This paper studies the design communication methods contained in the theory of White Bi. Relevant discussions were carried out in terms of human factors, culture, art, and communication channels. Under the premise of combining ancient Chinese philosophical thoughts, it puts forward a more effective reference method for the current design development.

This paper presents the analysis of UK road accident data to inform the development of a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) for trucks in the UK. The research forms part of a project funded by Transport for London. The DVS allows any truck to be rated in terms of its performance in the field of view afforded the driver. The standard will be used to limit the movement of poorly rated vehicles within central London from 2020. The standard will also foster improved truck designs for direct vision in the future. The analysis used accident data from the UK STATS 19 database between 2010 and 2015. Data were categorized on causation data and a series of accident characteristics to identify scenarios of accidents between trucks and vulnerable road users. These scenarios then informed the design of the DVS, in particular the definition of the areas of greatest risk around the cab.

This study aims to examine gender differences among engineering students in terms of risk-taking-related personality traits and risk perception. Thirteen scenarios based on actual fatality cases in the construction industry were used in the analysis. A total of 100 engineering undergraduates (male: 63, female: 37) were interviewed to identify their risk-taking-related personality traits and risk perception. Among ten personality traits, results show that being adventurous was the only personality trait positively correlated with risk-taking behaviour among female respondents. Two personality traits, namely, being adventurous and arrogant, were positively correlated with risk-taking behaviour among male respondents. The personality trait of calm was negatively correlated with risk-taking behaviour among male respondents. In terms of risk perception, females were slightly lower than males. These findings can be used as a reference for designing different safety training and awareness programs for male and female engineers and workers in the construction industry.

Electric vehicle technologies are attractive alternatives to traditional vehicles towards achieving sustainable transportation. The adoption of these technologies has a great potential in reducing road transportation externalities. As Qatar aims to achieve 10% electric vehicles by 2030, this research reveals the macro-level environmental, social, and economic impacts and benefits of electric vehicles in Qatar. The studied vehicle technologies are, gasoline vehicle (ICV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and battery electric vehicle (BEV). In this regard, we quantified 9 macro level indicators using Multi regional input-output (MRIO)-based life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) framework and compared the vehicles accordingly. The results show that, electric vehicles are better options in terms of Global Warming Potential (GWP), Particulate Matter Formation (PMF), and Photochemical Ozone Formation (POF) impacts. In addition to that, the results demonstrated that electric vehicles are more cost effectives than the traditional ones, while they are worse than traditional vehicles in terms of employment, operating surplus, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) impacts.

Breast Cancer (BC) is the most common type of cancer among women. Thankfully early detection and treatment improvements helped decrease its number of deaths. Data Mining techniques (DM), which discover hidden and potentially useful patterns from data, particularly for breast cancer diagnosis, are witnessing a new era, where the main objective is no longer replacing humans or just assisting them in their tasks but enhancing and augmenting their capabilities and this is where interpretability comes into play. This paper aims to investigate the Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) technique to interpret a Multilayer perceptron (MLP) trained on the Wisconsin Original Data-set. The results show that LIME explanations are a sort of real-time interpretation that helps understanding how the constructed neural network "thinks" and thus can increase trust and help oncologists, as the domain experts, learn new patterns.

Within the broad area of forensic accident investigations, much attention is usually focused on the accident reconstruction as well as human factors related to visual conspicuity, including time of day, age of driver, sight lines, weather, and the presence or absence of any intoxicating substances. This paper presents several approaches to accident reconstruction, human vision, as well as haptic and auditory factors tied to data obtained from a subject rig traveling over the rumble strips. These analyses are related to aspects of a severe trucking accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on a clear, dry, interstate highway. The accident occurred when a tractor and semi-trailer hauling a large shipment of whiskey, appeared to strike a second tractor and semi-trailer that was parked near the fog line. Truck 1 raked the trailer and cab of Truck 2, rupturing both fuels tanks which led to a horrific fire.
