The aim of this study is to respond to the educational needs of the future, considering automation and robotics. It is inevitable that automation and robotics are changing our lives and they create challenges for the future work life and education. In this study, we investigate what is the educational background of the unemployed people who are in danger of being replaced by automation and what is their educational resilience for adapting work life changes. The data of this study consist of the latest PIAAC data (The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). Based on the research we develop a model for re-educating the people who have lost their jobs.

The current study investigated the key-to-key distance, which was defined as the distance between the margin points of two adjacent keys transversally and vertically. In view of forefinger operation, the combination of subjective measurement and objective measurement was used in the ergonomics assessment of key-to-key distance effects on the performance. 30 participants are recruited to attend the tests. One-way ANOVA is used to analyze operational performance at different key-to-key distance and then the S-N-K-hoc is conducted for pairwise comparison, alpha = 0.05. The results were obtained: when a reasonable key size is decided, key-to-key distance has no effect on the accuracy and efficiency of touch-sensitive key operation. Therefore, considering the user experience satisfaction, the recommended transverse key-to-key distances range for rounded corner key is from 6 mm to 12 mm, while lengthways key-to-key distances range is from 6 mm to 14 mm;the recommended transverse key-to-key distances range for round key is from 6 mm to 12 mm, while lengthways key-to-key distances range is from 6 mm to 16 mm. This research can provide a basis for the design of key size of enterprise electronic products, and has important guiding significance.

This paper presents a case study of ergonomics in a materials recycling cooperative located in Brazil. Techniques of qualitative analysis and observation of the work environment were conducted to obtain data. Cooperatives are currently an outlet for municipal solid waste management, emerging as a source of income generation and labor integration for people who are marginalized from formal work. The main objective of this study is to analyze the work station of the cooperative with the largest number of workers, specifically the area for sorting recyclable materials. Given that income generation is concurrent with poor working conditions, this paper argues that ergonomics can greatly contribute to the improvement of productivity and the quality of life of the cooperative members.

As people spend most of their time inside buildings, indoor environment quality must be monitored in real-time for enhanced living environments and occupational health. Indoor environmental quality assessment is based on the satisfaction of the thermal, sound, light and air quality conditions. The indoor quality patterns can be directly used to promote health and wellbeing. With the proliferation of the Internet of Things related technologies, smart homes must incorporate monitoring solutions for data acquisition, transmission, and microsensors for several real-time monitoring activities. This paper presents a low-cost and scalable multi-sensor smart home solution based on Internet of Things for enhanced indoor quality considering acoustic, thermal and luminous comfort. The proposed system incorporates three sensor modules for data collection and use Wi-Fi communication technology for Internet access. The system has been developed using open-source and mobile computing technologies for real-time data visualization and analytics. The acquisition modules incorporate light intensity and colour temperature, particulate matter, formaldehyde, relative humidity, ambient temperature and sound sensor capabilities. The results have successfully validated the scalability, reliability and easy installation of the proposed system.

The Italian nautical industrial sector has always been an excellence of international level. From 2014 we are witnessing a gradual recovery of the market, after the crash of 2011. The recovery is slow and approaches around 18% uphill. This phenomenon is due to different key factors that refer to the concept and characteristics of the particular products. The first condition is the introduction of new materials and new process technologies. These have allowed the reorganization and optimization of the production system, according to the new needs expressed at global level. Market of maxy and mega yachts is a very fertile field of investigation, both for sailing yachts that motor boats;the interest is expressed thanks to their intrinsic value of "luxury goods". The results of research in technology and engineering contribute to the choices made by the team designers, who see in the introduction of every possible form of innovation, an added value to the improvement of life on board.

Transport accounts for almost a quarter of Europe's greenhouse gas emissions and is the main contributor to air pollution in cities. Moreover, it is one of the most important noise sources shaping the acoustic climate in urban areas. For this reason, there have been actions implemented in the European Union for years now aimed at improving air quality, with a view to meeting by 2030 standards at the levels set by the WHO. One of them, which is to significantly reduce the environmental burden generated by road transport, is the replacement of conventionally powered cars with pure electric BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicle). This paper, basing on comparison of cars with different types of propulsion (gasoline, diesel, electric and plug-in hybrid engines), evaluates which of them is currently the most beneficial to use in the city in environmental, technical and economic terms. The analysis was carried out for two situations: (1) total emissions from the production of fuel, manufacture of the vehicle and its use, (2) vehicle emissions during its use using one of the multi-criteria optimization methods the point method.

The paradigm of museum as "a place without borders" meets new possibilities in the age of globalization and digital media. The highly technological driven audiences present a continuous challenge for most Museums to attract and engaged. The focus is now mainly on the experience - the Museum experience, that can also be modeled and enhanced by the use of digital media. This article presents a preliminary view on the presence of digital media in two identified Water Museums: two case studies from the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMUT-NET, an initiative of UNESCO). We've identified the presence of similar digital technologies and tools, but different forms of integrating them in each Museum's scale, context and mission. Further research should follow, to identify in situ, and in articulation with curators and visitors, new findings.

Optimised transport systems plays multi-purpose growth and development functions and roles in any area or region. When transport systems are optimised, integrated and efficient, such transport systems have the innate capacity and capability to support the flow of goods, labour and increased mobilities. In Gauteng, the apartheid manufactured "spaces and mobility lines" have been credited with various scales of transport, growth and development inequalities. Well over 25 years, since the dawn of the 1994 new democracy in South Africa, shifts in transport, spatial planning and development have made significant but arguably "microscopic gains" in seeking to reverse and advance new spatial scales and forms of transformative development. This paper, based on Gauteng province showcases the transport realities and challenges in Johannesburg, making use of case studies from low income peripheral located settlements. The recommendations resonate with the need for decisive systems and the " planting" of an adaptive, robust and flexible steering mechanism in order to transform the transport geography of Gauteng province. The central question discussed revolves on whether new transport geography or the old transport geography is being (re)created and (re)imagined in Gauteng province.

Young people are key drivers of new behaviors and understandings. Their participation in the society allows the integration of their ideas and constructive analysis to foster policies and innovative solutions in which technology are an intrinsic element. Citizen science can be used to give voice to children and young people through the development of citizenship and approach to scientific debate. In the European context, the WYRED project has developed a methodological framework to support the participation of young people in the Digital Society through social dialogues and the support of a technological ecosystem to allow internationalization. This work aims to lay the groundwork to transfer the WYRED framework to the Brazilian context through a case study conducted in the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. The study has allowed to identify the key topics that concern Brazilian young people in relation to desired social change: tolerance to different cultures/opinions;mental wellbeing;necessary changes in education (e.g. future-oriented education);self-image, self-confidence;and Internet safety & privacy.

This paper introduces the experiments realized by Arduino Education in the field of educational robotics. The paper, written as a collection of annotated exemplars, covers a series of prototypes, kits, and full educational programmes which were tested with students of different ages and educators. Some projects are of a do-it-yourself (DIY) nature, a property we came to describe as DIY-ness, while some others have been manufactured and served to tens of thousands of students. There are however things in common that can help others in the conceptualization, development, and deployment of educational robotics initiatives.
