The article presents a choice of road building technology using the AHP method and the Hellwig method. Based on the analyses carried out with the use of the Saaty and Hellwig methods it was found that the achieved values of ranking for asphalt and concrete pavements are close to each other, which may indicate that both technologies are comparable within the criterions taken for analyses in relation to accepted technological-technical and usability features. When choosing the road building technology one shouldn't be limited to building costs alone. It's necessary to consider the costs of 30-40 year exploitation and maintenance of the road. The main task when choosing the road building technology is to build the road of a quality that will enable many years of its exploitation. Based on the analyses carried out with the use of the Hellwig and AHP methods it can be assumed that both technologies. the asphalt one and the concrete one can be competitive because it leads to the progress and development of both of them. Considering the increasing growth of traffic, concrete may be perceived as a technical and economic alternative in comparison to asphalt pavement;which is confirmed in the presented analyses.

China's continuous and swift transformations pose relevant challenges to a sustainable development in all three areas: social, ecological and economical. Several national policies are implemented to guide these transitions within supported, non-disruptive solutions, seeking to keep an overall balance in the very dynamic socio-economic framework. These policies are generally implemented separately. This paper presents a possible proposal to link an economical policy to a social one through a design driven approach for social innovation: how to create a potentially beneficial link between the major social challenges of the elderly and the family in rural areas and the "Mass Innovation Entrepreneurship", one of the policies to support the transition from "factory of the world" to Made in China and Design in China. This could impact millions of families and offer a new social implementation for a tech driven phenomena.

With the advent of cloud platforms and the IoT paradigm, the concept of micro-services has gained even more strength, making crucial the process of selection, manipulation, and deployment. However, this whole process is time-consuming and error pruning. In this paper, we present the design of a framework that allows the chaining of several microservices as a composite service in order to solve a single problem. The framework includes a client that will allow the orchestration f the composite service based on a straightforward API. The framework also includes a gamification engine to engage users not only to use the framework, by contributing with new microservices. We expect to have briefly a functional prototype of the framework so we can prove this concept.

Nowadays, the decision-making process is often affected by various risk factors, which may have negative consequences and lead to wrongful decisions. In these circumstances, the meaning of 'intelligence' aspect is gaining in importance as it highly enhances the possibility of making the right decision. One of the tool used in intelligent Decision Making is Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) Methodology, application of which highly increases rationality in the selection process. It is composed of various methods, classified by the author as the intelligent tools. Additionally, intelligent Decision Making models are very useful in various sectors of economy, including transportation sector. The typical decision problem may be e.g. the process of evaluating and selecting transportation systems and their components, such as logistics operators for example. Yet, the cooperation with the specialised, effective logistic operator may determine the success of the whole transportation process in the company. Therefore, the process of evaluating and selecting the main and the key logistics operators should be carefully considered and based on the intelligent approach. Pursuant to the main idea of the article, for intelligent Decision Making can be used e.g. MCDM Methodology and its various methods. One of them - Promethee II will be applied, in order to make the right decision during the selection of the most desired variant - logistics operator.

Driving performance was measured using the lane change test (LCT). Participants followed lane change instructions presented in three locations: road signs, a head-up display (HUD), and a head-down display (HDD). To measure the participants' ability to detect ecologically-valid stimuli while viewing the displays, a peripheral detection task (PDT) with inward-moving stimuli from either side of the road was applied on half of tracks. Interacting with the HDD resulted in the poorest driving performance, and similar driving performance was found with the road signs and the HUD. Further analyses revealed that the participants' age had an effect on their performance with the display locations. The younger age group (20-24 years) drove the best with the HUD;while the older age group (26-31 years) drove the best with the road signs. PDT performance differences were not significant. Results indicate that HUDs may be a good option for displaying navigational information to drivers.

This work shows the results of a research project which goal was to make a geo-historical study on clothes used by four civilizations: Rome, Greece, Egypt and India. A bibliography search was done, online museum image databases and other sources were accessed in order to have a photographic record of statues and female tridimensional figures corresponding to the selected historical periods and parts of the world. The method included a partial reconstruction of the body, referencing the sculptural representation of female beauty in those ancient civilizations. After the reconstruction an indirect extraction of anthropometric measurements was made over 2D images, and those data were fed into a generative design software to model a tridimensional torso. The outcome is a 'historical-customizable' 3D model that can be applied to the production of clothing and historical costumes.

The effectiveness of a hearing aid (HA) is commonly assessed by a questionnaire that provide information on the benefits/disadvantages of the use of the HA in real life situations. This work wants to analyze if acoustic benefit and satisfaction levels depend by an HA equipped with different technologies (Basic technology HA, Medium technology HA, Premium technology HA trough the International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids (IOI-HA) questionnaire administered to 60 patients and the Hearing Handicap Inventory (HHI) questionnaire administered to 14 patients. The results show that regardless of technology, persistent problems remain such as perception in noisy environments. A further effort is required by the technicians in the evaluation of the patient as a whole, from the identification of the HA that ergonomically better suits the needs of each patient until the adaptation in complex environments, for the minimization of the perception of disability.

In the past years, educational escape games have raised interest in researchers and educators as a new game-based learning approach to break out from the traditional classroom routine. Recent work has demonstrated that educational escape games elicit high motivation and engagement on the part of the participants. Moreover, it has been shown that many participants experienced flow, a state of mind, which has been considered as beneficial for successful learning. However, due to its novelty, studies on the educational significance of such activities still appear to be sparse. In this work, we investigated whether escape games can be used as a teaching tool in the context of educational robotics, since both can be situated in the pedagogical currents of social-constructivism. To this end, we developed a prototype of an escape game using the educational robot Thymio and the visual programming language VPL and tested it with 61 subjects. Both quantitative and qualitative results showed that most participants highly appreciated the activity and agreed on the game's usability for teaching. Moreover, a great majority agreed on having experienced flow while playing. We, therefore, suggest that escape games provide a favorable framework for educational robotic activities, promoting particularly self-regulated and collaborative learning.

A safety analysis of a cordless (handheld) angle grinder is presented. The analysis includes a discussion of prior injury data, a preliminary hazard analysis, a fault tree analysis, and a failure modes and effects analysis of the angle grinder. Based upon these various analyses, the most common and the most severe injury modes are identified, as well as the causes of these injury modes. Finally, in each analysis, specific preventive measures, including preventive maintenance is discussed.
