About 35% of a person's life is spent in bed. With people's living standards improve, more and more people are paying attention to mattress comfort. Studies have shown that the pressure distribution between the mattress and the human body affects people's sleep quality, and the pressure distribution is one of the main indicators to measure the comfort of the mattress. In this paper, the comfort of mattresses with different hardness is studied. The pressure distribution and the subjective comfort score are analyzed with the trend of the mattress hardness. The recommended values of the mattress hardness and the pressure are obtained. The research results can provide basis and reference for the design of the mattress.

Since the handover in 1997, identity politics have arisen in Hong Kong social and political movements. Locality and local identity discourses have become unprecedentedly salient to rearticulate Hong Kong culture and identity. People's feelings, thoughts and behaviors in relation to community solidarity and identity construction in the name of "bentu" or locality are significantly advocated among Hongkongers in terms of the sense of belonging and emotional bonding. Similarly, brand advertising deploys emotional appeals to build brand trust and loyalty among target consumers. Brand advertisements have increasingly deployed much more complicated multimodal semiotics and metaphors to create identity myths to emotionally affect and persuade consumers by the sharing of collective representations of local cultures and identities. This study will investigate how Hong Kong advertisers deploy multimodal semiotics in their brand advertisements to establish brand equity in line with the recent cultural emotions and sentiments of Hongkongers.

Accident investigations show that piloting errors (e.g., incorrect trajectory) often result from an inadequate monitoring of the cockpit instruments. Recent improvements of the eye tracking technology now allow a reliable and rather accurate recording of eye movements in ecological environments. The present study investigates how the integration of eye tracking in the cockpit could help pilots performing an efficient surveillance of their instruments. We developed FETA, an embedded system that evaluates online the visual monitoring of the cockpit. The system compares the current visual scan of the pilot with a database of "standard" visual circuits established thanks to eye-tracking recordings from 16 airlines pilots. If the current visual scan deviates too much from the database, e.g., the speed is not fixated during a too long period, FETA emits a vocal alarm to reorient attention. This paper presents the development of FETA and its preliminary evaluation with 5 airlines pilots. During an approach-landing phase in flight simulator;we assessed the impact of FETA on situation awareness, cognitive resources, flight performance, and visual scans. Results showed that FETA system efficiently redirected attention toward critical flight instruments. However, improvements must be performed to satisfy with operational requirements. For example, it seems important to take also into-account flight parameters in order to limit unnecessary alerts.

The aim of this presentation is (1) to define the skills necessary to control the driving of an autonomous vehicle;(2) skills needed to tackle the errors and failures of an autonomous vehicle and (3) to propose the operationalization of these skills. The view on driving skills decrease is built on the theoretical hierarchical model of driving behavior "GDE" - Goals for Driver Education model". This can be used as the theoretical basis for measuring the decline in driving skills. The model is then put together with knowledge about human behavior and its changes in the context of automation and autonomous mobility. This definition and measurement suggestion is the first step in the long run of tackling the issue of reducing driving skills in the context of autonomous driving. Increase in automation promises a lot of benefits but on the other side, it also brings a decline in human ability to drive. It is a well-known finding of cognitive psychology that not using skills may cause forgetting and gradual loss of that ability or skill. Therefore, there have been some concerns connected with excessive automation in various areas of human lives for some time. But the topic of the automation and the pitfalls associated with it is not a new issue. For example, Bainbridge a long time ago drew attention to possible problems. Automation limits gaining experiences that can be needed when the control is needed to be passed back to the human operator. Even autopilot monitoring itself is based on the skills acquired by operators from experience with manual control, and future generations of operators who only gain experience from overseeing automats and autopilots will no longer have such. The model, which will be presented takes into account all above-mentioned aspects of driving in the automation era.

The prevalence of personal sound equipment (i.e. earphones) are undeniable, due to the convenience it provides in certain conditions. However, in certain environments earphones could subject users to unintended consequences like hearing loss. In this experiment, the researchers sought to identify the effect of external noise level and the type of earphones on the perceived satisfactory volume level and sound quality of a user. These were assessed through a three-phase methodology namely;benchmarking, data collection, and data analysis. From a pool of 22 respondents, the results show that people do tend to increase their perceived satisfactory volume level depending on the noise level in the environment and on the type of earphones they were using.

In garment and fashion design human and technical factors to take into account are multiple, and are reflected in numerous aspects of the product, process and relationship. Comfort of the objects to be projected and produced are an essential element that in many cases is left aside, favoring the aesthetic aspect and social representation. The knitted textile material is a peculiar element which, because of its characteristics, has reserved a prominent place in the field of fashion design and is characterized by the possibility of creating its own textile surface. Knit material, like any other textile surface, includes and promotes a material and immaterial culture representative of the social and communal world. This paper intends to argue and approximate the different characteristics provided by the knitted textile material to the needs of the users and in particular the possibility of co-creating clothing adapted to the needs of the users.

This article shows the ways of prevention academic dishonesty in elearning. We reveal this phenomenon as a complex social notion in the context of the sociology of communication and the Internet and educational data mining. The main categories of academic dishonesty are considered in the paper: cheating, plagiarism and collusion. Cheating is shown in details because it is associated with the tests during the e-learning course. The authors carried out a substantial analysis of academic dishonesty in e-learning and it's prevention using more than 50 examples covering the experience of various countries and higher education systems. The most interesting case shows measures preventing extension for Google Chrome PolyTestHelper. The main conclusion of the study proves the priority of preventive measures. It is obvious that the problem of cheating cannot be solved purely technically, since a technical war can last forever. At the present stage of information and communication technologies widespread usage a situation of prohibition or significant restrictions in elearning environment may seem contrived to students. False results of anti-cheat programs can seriously undermine the trust between students and teachers. The ideal way to prevent academic dishonesty is to perform tasks including creative academic elements. Nevertheless, this way is not universal because these are mass courses with a regular enrollment of several thousand students, with a fully automatic verification of academic results.

The article describes a solution for monitoring the presence and movement of workers between production halls in the factory. The physical structure of the monitoring system components based on RFID antennas and chips embedded in every clothing element of an employee is presented. The hardware and software architecture of the solution is also presented and described in the article. Particular attention was paid to the algorithmic issues related to the detection of ambiguities resulting from human-machine cooperation. A number of problems resulting from different behavior of employees and their interpretation on the basis of readings for individual elements of their work attire have been solved.

The folding umbrellas are widely loved by consumers because of their small size, light weight and easy carrying. And the comfort of use of folding umbrellas is inseparable from the study of human factors engineering since the folding umbrellas have the most direct contact with the human body. There are many different kinds of folding umbrellas on the market, but almost for commercial purposes, which has led to an increasingly terrible experience of the inconvenience of existing folding umbrellas. Consequently, in order to let consumers get a better experience during the use of the folding umbrellas, this paper, from the perspective of the human factors engineering, attempts to find out the deficiencies of the folding umbrellas design and the possible design breakthroughs, and propose innovative ideas for folding umbrellas design.

At present, the main source of electric power of the modern autonomous power supply system of the railway car is a generator driven by the gear unit from the axle of the wheel-set. Rechargeable batteries are used as a backup and emergency power source in all types of passenger cars. At the same time, car power supply systems with tradition generators and batteries have significant disadvantages. Existing car batteries have capacity limitations due to their weight and dimensions. Storage batteries take a significant part of the underbody space. The purpose of this article is investigating the possibility of using lithium-ion batteries for the power supply of passenger cars. The application of lithium-ion batteries for the power supply of passenger cars was considered using the example of the lithium-ion modules of the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, which now is the most popular in Ukraine and other countries of the world.
