This paper investigates the effective minimum size for cutting out the edge of the intersection for reducing the mental stress of the pedestrian appearing from an intersection, by the experiment using the electrodermal activity measuring method and the virtual reality technology. 30 college students as the participants were experienced the unlimited long virtual passage where the intersections would be appearing regularly and continuously, through a head mounted display. The width of the passage was set at two sizes, 1,600 mm and 2,000 mm. The result is that the mental stress for the crossing pedestrian could be reduce by applying a cutting out of more than 1,000 mm to the corner of the intersection. According to these results, it was suggested that cutting out the corner of the intersection of about 1,000 mm would give a certain effect on the worry-free passage design.

The idea generation phase in the design process is often referred to as 'the fuzzy front end', which combing inspiration from a large amount of stimuli and pilot experience into concepts. How to lead designers is a significant task in design method research. This paper is firstly aim at visualising the idea generation and concept deepening processes of designers with different levels of design experiences. Second, to find out the influence of inspiration sources with different stimulation distance on designers' creativity, and classify designers' preference of inspirational stimuli. This paper select design students and expert designers who have more than two years experience as test subjects. Two groups of subjects are asked to conduct same design task within a certain period of time. The design task involves three sub-sessions, each of which provides a type of stimulus information, including text, pictures and design plans, representing different levels of stimulation distance, and requires the subjects generate design alternatives as much as possible based on the given stimuli. Observe the subjects' design outputs under different inspiration sources, using the extended linkography as a tool to visualise designers' problem space evolution. It measures the designers' creativity and fixation preferences of different inspiration sources by analysing the number of design alternatives, the number of transformation links and stimuli distance. This paper may have significance for the study of idea generation methods and the development of related tools.

Electronic vending machines are a wide-spread system for delivering and accessing goods: the possibility of operating in a completely automated fashion and independently from business hours makes them extremely convenient for serving public and private locations. However, they fail their purpose in serving individuals with special needs: their lack of accessibility prevents users who are blind or have severe visual impairments from autonomously purchasing products. In this paper, we focus on the ergonomics of electronic vending machines and their automatic payment systems: we discuss their human factors and, specifically, usability to individuals who have severe low vision. Furthermore, we present a user experience analysis of their components and we detail the results of a study that evaluated the performance of different common types of commercially-available vending machines in the three steps of a purchase, that is, product selection, payment, and collection. Our results demonstrate that poor design, lack of tactile information, and absence of non-visual feedback have a significant impact on accessibility and prevent most customers who are blind from being able to independently select, pay, and collect a product.

Based on the data of the second national anthropometric survey conducted from 2014 to 2018, this study analyzed the correlations among 11 head and face measurement items, and the correlations between head and face measurement items and influencing factors. And the effective linear regression equations are established, which provided a technical reference for the optimization of human head and face measurement items. Head and face data were acquired according to the method defined in the Basic Project of Anthropometry for Technical Design (GB/T5703-1999). The research results can be directly applied to human head and face measurement, to update human head and face size data and reduce the difficulty of human body measurement field work.

Viral marketing is one of the trends of the marketing strategy for building up a brand image because of the rapid development of internet. Viral marketing helps the information spreading quickly and widely on the internet through the sharing from the youngsters. Some politicians use the strategies of viral marketing to create noises and exposures for their political campaign and communication in Hong Kong through social media such as Facebook. This study will focus on how viral marketing works in political campaign and communication. A case study of John Tsang's campaign in the 2017 Hong Kong Chief Executive Election using the Berger's STEPPS framework is analyzed to assess how viral marketing was applied to political communication. The focus of analysis will be on the changes of the youth perceptions and attitudes toward John Tsang's image during the Umbrella Movement in 2014 and after his Election campaign in 2017.

Bicycling is an increasingly popular activity, but safely sharing the road with motorists presents challenges. This study explores two factors that may contribute to negative interactions on Virginia roadway: insufficient understanding of cycling-specific laws and differential hazard perception for cyclists and motorists. Surveyed motorists reported not knowing bicycle-related laws and demonstrated some misunderstanding that was concerning. The results unexpectedly indicate that motorists rate potential road hazards as riskier to cyclists than cyclists rate the same hazards. This suggests that motorists recognize the vulnerability of cyclists on the roadway. But, our findings also highlight that motorist do not actively monitor for the same hazards as cyclists. A lack of similar hazard awareness could be leading to the regular close calls cyclists are reporting. It may also be this lack of fundamental knowledge that contributes to motorist frustration during cyclist encounters.

Since safety demands are an integral part of the process industry, process safety competence should be developed accordingly. When developing this competence during the vocational education and training (VET) of process operators, close collaboration between the students, VET providers, and workplaces is essential. The aim of this study was to examine the current needs regarding process safety education in the process industry with respect to VET. Interviews (n = 46) and a workshop were carried out with participating process industry, VET, and expert organizations. Competence requirements were categorized into (1) knowledge and skills, (2) values and attitudes, and (3) abilities and traits needed to achieve the required level of performance in the process industry. Developing these competencies can be helpful to VET organizations, as they enable students to adapt to workplaces' process safety requirements. Moreover, the study results can be utilized in the development of the process safety competence of senior employees.

Machine Learning (ML) combined with Image Processing (IP) gives a powerful tool to help physician, doctors and radiologist to make more accurate decisions. Breast cancer (BC) is a largely common disease among women worldwide;it is one of the medical sub-field that are experiencing an emergence of the use of ML and IP techniques. This paper explores the use of ML and IP techniques for BC in the form of a systematic mapping study. 530 papers published between 2000 and August 2019 were selected and analyzed according to 6 criteria: year and publication channel, empirical type, research type, medical task, machine learning objectives and datasets used. The results show that classification was the most used ML objective. As for the datasets most of the articles used private datasets belonging to hospitals, although papers using public data choose MIAS (Mammographic Image Analysis Society) which make it as the most used public dataset.

Hazard Perception can be considered to be situation cognition for dangerous situations in the traffic environment. Enough cognition could ensure drivers' safety especially when they are facing emergent situations, which can ensure that drivers have full time to make timely response. Maintaining constant attention is necessary for drivers which could help them to better control vehicles and then avoid conflicts effectively. Drivers' abilities to concentrate, visual search and distraction will affect brain waves, and drivers' attention requires coordination between brain waves in different brain regions. Some researches extracted drivers' electroencephalography (EEG) to explore the changes of their brain waves, and previous studies indicated that different frequency bands within the normal EEG frequency range reflected quite different cognitive processes. Moreover, some researches always associate with different brain areas to explore wave activity in different frequency bands. However, there are limited studies explore how could drivers' EEG signals influence traffic safety and which EEG variables could measure drivers' attention. The purpose of the study is to examine which EEG variables could be taken as measurement indexes to evaluate drivers' attention level, furthermore we compare the differences of these EEG variables under different collision avoidance results. The experimental results of this study would lead to a better understanding of choosing which EEG variables could be used to measure drivers' attention during the emergent collision avoidance process, and how drivers' EEG variables changed could avoid the happening of conflicting.
