Based on cognitive extent, this paper focuses on workload evaluation for spatial fine-grained tracking control tasks. Cognitive model for manual rendezvous and docking (RvD) control task is setup in the light of cognitive architecture firstly. Then, total active time for each module in cognitive architecture is calculated to represent the active time for corresponding brain region. Workload predicted by both the NASA-TLX subjective scale method and proposals are compared to verify the evaluation's validation on a cognitive degree. Finally, mapping the corresponding activities of the cognitive model to the human brain functional related area and making the brain cortex region's activity animation with time of model's running, the simulation for mental workload of R&D manual task is implemented. The results show that evaluation of human brain workload from a cognitive level is more effective, objective and accurate than traditional scales and physiological measurement methods.

When makerspaces are designed for children, special motivation and reasoning needs to be made. Within this article, we describe a case study: A temporary four-day open makerspace for about 40 children per day. Motivation, considerations and the development process as well as the actual realization are described and discussed. We comment on how such a space for children and adolescents should be arranged for future studies. As described, considerations in terms of participation, peer tutoring and gender mainstreaming influence the design of the space, the methods used, as well as the general setting.

Emergency situations are unpredictable and happen very quick. They require citizens to be able to act to help victims until they are stable or until emergency entities arrive. Acting in these situations is crucial to save someone's life. However, the average citizen does not always know about first aid. Communication for this matter is important as it allows a set of information to be transmitted in a variety of ways, such as verbal, non-verbal or pictographic. Therefore, first aid procedures should be communicated in a simple and objective way, to motivate citizens to act in emergency situations. We present a set of analog and digital media as part of a design project developed as a solution for these circumstances, where we explain basic life support and recovery position. We undertook an evaluation of project outcome, through questionnaires. Perception and effective learning of techniques to deal with emergency situations was improved.

This document presents the procedures used to carry out architectural design of a housing prototype for low-income people under bioclimatic criteria in Monte Sinahi, at Guayaquil. Bioclimatic design starts with the characterization of the local climate and, based on inclusive design, considers the needs of a family that currently lives in that territory. With climate data obtained from a weather station located on site, region climate is described, which is characterized in two climatic seasons: hot-dry and hot-humid. The analysis of the micro-climatic particularities of the place allowed defining cooling requirements and proposing passive design strategies into architectural project for interior spaces. It also outlines recommendations for dwellings with bioclimatic criteria taking into account architectural morphology, urban form, building elements and solar and wind flow control devices. The use of Ecomaterials as construction elements in the efficient management of local resources is the result of a research program whose objective is to provide solutions in order to improve the constructive quality of low-cost dwellings using bamboo and other natural resources as fibers, leaves and parts of the trunk of plant species. Climatic characterization, added to future dwellers requirements, citizen participation as an example of social inclusion in the decision-making design process and the use of Ecomaterials, will contribute to the appropriation of the prototype by its users to be used as a housing solution that contributes with the care of the environment and the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of Monte Sinahi.

Safety climate is an important construct for determining construction safety. This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of a safety climate scale on the basis of its aggregate-level data characteristics, with the use of 5-, 7-, and 10-point Likert-type scales, and to investigate the influence of the number of response categories on the validity and reliability of a safety climate scale. A total of 104 construction workers participated in this study. Results showed that the mean, variance, and internal consistency reliability of the 5-, 7-, and 10-point Likert-type scales had no considerable difference. Among the three scales, the responses for the 7-point Likert scale tended to be normally distributed. Therefore, this study provides theoretical contributions to the literature on construction industry safety climate and suggests the use of the 7-point Likert scale in measuring safety climate in the construction industry.

As the core element of the public oriented sign system, graphic symbols play an important role in People's Daily life. This study explores the humanized design of the boundary dimension of graphic symbols from the perspective of ordinary users. Thirty subjects were recruited for the experiment, and the boundary size design of graphic symbols had 7 levels. The results showed that people did have an obvious preference for the boundary size design of graphic symbols.

The purpose of 3D technology is to transform the most challenging concepts into reality. In Fashion, 3D printing is continually evolving with the designers' interest and professionals in technology. It opens new avenues of fascinating and endless possibilities for fashion designers. In this process the object is created layer by layer without any mould, based on its design which was developed through Computer Aided Design (CAD) and use powder particles materials, like plastics, metals, and resins etc. 3D printing offers different perspectives in almost every field of life. This innovation has impacting the new industrial revolution and creating vibes, in majorly all the industries. Including high fashion apparels and could change the future of both Haute Couture and Pret. Regarding three dimensional printing there are various ways and technologies have been developed by the professionals, but this outrageous technology is having an obstacle in fashion apparels, like materials, which are mainly synthetics and lacking the natural properties to produce desired silhouettes.

The paper describes the pilot study conducted to assess the feasibility of the empirical approach utilizing vehicle trajectory data from a smart-phone app and the Vehicle-Specific Power methodology to estimate pollutant emissions at urban roundabouts. The goal of this research phase is to acquire instantaneous speed data from a sample of six roundabouts located in the road network of the City of Palermo, Italy, and quantify emissions generated by the test vehicle through the examined roundabouts. For the case studies of roundabouts acceleration events in the circulating and exiting areas contributed to about 25% of the emissions for a given speed profile. More in general, the results from this research shed lights for further opportunities to examine infrastructural scenarios when decision makers require to assess changes in the design or operation of urban transportation systems.

Over recent years, Deep Learning has proven to be an excellent technology to solve problems that would otherwise be too complex. Furthermore, it has seen great success in the area of medical imaging, especially when applied to the segmentation of brain tissues. As such, this work explores a possible new approach, using Deep Learning to perform spatial normalization on Magnetic Resonance Imaging brain studies. Spatial normalization of Magnetic Resonance images by tools like FSL, or SPM can be inefficient for researches as they require too many resources to achieve good results. These resources include, for example, wasted human and computer time when executing the commands to normalize and waiting for the process to finish. This can take up to several hours just for one study. Therefore, to enable a faster and easier method to normalize the data, a U-Net based Deep Neural Network was developed using Keras and TensorFlow. This approach should free the researchers' time for other more relevant tasks and help reach conclusions faster in their studies when trying to find patterns between the analyzed brains. The results obtained have shown potential by predicting the correct brain shape in less than 10 s per exam instead of hours even though the model did not yet accomplish a fully usable spatial normalized brain.

Diabetic foot is one of the main complications of diabetes in the whole world. Its symptoms and problems get worse over time and may include numbness, tingling, loss of sensation and pain in the limbs. Our goal is to develop a smart sock able to control some measures such us temperature or humidity and tells the patient whether ulcers may appear. As one of the first steps, we want to: (i) study the best sensors to take the temperature in the feet, (ii) give important reasons about the amount of regions of interest (ROis) necessary to perform a good screening in the diabetic foot, and for optimizing the study, eliminating areas that offer redundant results. In this work, first, we analyze the different sensors in the scientific literature. As a consequence, we find that it could be complicated to collocate many sensors at each sock. Therefore, in the second part, we derive a statistical analysis about which are the best 4-5 points where sensors should be placed.
