Automation in the road transport system is coming faster than expected being influencing and shaping the future of mobility. However, very few is known about the impact of automatic driving on traffic and how drivers will accept, use, trust and interact in traffic when driving a vehicle with a certain level of automation. Additionally, most of the potential users have unrealistic representations of autonomous vehicles, the driver's role in automation or the impacts of full automation on the road transport system. Aiming at better understanding the drivers' behavior when dealing with automated driving, this paper addresses the following issues based on a state of the art on automated driving: drivers' preferences for the automation levels across different categories of drivers;limits of the technology;needs for changes in traffic laws, as well as licensing and training;driver's promptness to resume the vehicle control following a long period of autonomous driving.

As the available literature indicates, Smart city is an idea in which the city uses, among others, information and communication technologies to increase the interactivity and efficiency of transport infrastructure and the transport supra-structure. Although specialists dealing with the issues of smart cities use different definitions, they agree in one thing, the availability to services offered by intelligent transport systems is the key to development of this concept. On this basis, the authors have attempted to characterize the currently available services in the field of intelligent mobility in relation to road transport. The aim of the article is to show that the city, in order to be perceived as "intelligent", should first of all try to effectively use the solutions that are currently available on the market in the field of intelligent transport systems.

Portugal due to this geographical latitude, similar to that of California, with climate comparable to those of South Africa, Chile and Australia, and its location in the Mediterranean basin comprises a series of natural factors that facilitate the propagation of forest fires. The disasters caused by climate change or natural causes in 2017 were extremely significant in the context of Portuguese architectural and urban heritage. Our concern regards the contemporary housing through the heritage perspective, with all its historic, architectural, cultural and social attributes. In terms of spatial framework, we have selected the three Portuguese villages, located in the region of District of Castelo Branco, and which were in the centre of the tragedy. The objective of this work is to discuss heritage preservation and rehabilitation politics, particularly the ones concerned to the built environment and its interface with nature, allied to the ergonomic approach in the design process.

In this paper, a novel reversible keyless steganography algorithm for video piracy protection which uses randomized pixel for hiding authentic information is proposed. Randomization at two different levels is considered which is not in any of the existing algorithms. It increases the security with low cost. This proposed approach enhances the randomization of the specific pixels where authentication information will be stored in a frame and the location of such modified pixels is stored in an immediate next frame. Each pair is identified with an embedded random number. Modified least significant bit (mLSB) is used to insert the authentication information bits which is cost effective due to simplicity and can withstand statistical attacks. During extraction, frame with pixel locations is used. The extracted information will be compared. Different quality metrics values proved that it can withstand visual attacks, whereas StirMark test proved its high robustness.

The out-of-curriculum project team "Rika-Kobo" organized by university students has actively performed various science communication activities in local community that mainly aim to stimulate interests of children and other generations into various fields of sciences and technologies for over 15 years. The activities of the project team are in out-of-curriculum basis. This means that the student members are not extrinsically motivated, but instead voluntarily involved in the activities. As a result, they are likely to have the same level of motivations and enthusiasms, leading to generally high qualities in the activities. As the supervisor of the activities, the author believes that the out-of-curriculum situation of the activities is critical for realizing such successful performances. For investigating actual attitudes of the student members towards involvement in the activities, questionnaires were provided in which among other questions, the student members were asked whether or not they were in favor of the situation of incorporating the activities into official education curriculum of the university so that the student members can get credits and/or improve their GPA scores through their participation in the activities. The obtained results showed that the majority of the student members believed that the activities should remain in the out-of-curriculum basis, similarly to the author's opinion as the supervisor of the activities. Interestingly, the student members in higher grades (in other words, with longer period of experiences in the activities) were likely to be in more strongly favor of the out-of-curriculum situation. Longer period of participation in the activities makes the student members further believe that their intrinsic motivation is a key factor for achieving satisfactory and successful performances and results.

The paper presents the possibilities of using the results of research work on the parallel synthesis of complex systems with an increased degree of dependability in the issues of resource and tasks management of grid systems, including cloud computing and fog computing, too. It is therefore necessary to modify the system model, primarily in terms of performance and optimization criteria, and indicate the main criterion for system operation, which should be the time to obtain the results necessary for the proper operation of the distributed operating system, which manages the sets of resources and tasks in grid. Namely, if the time to obtain results for computer aided design (CAD) procedures is not critical, it is required only that these procedures are polynomial, because the size of these problems completely prevents the use others algorithms, it is obvious that of the execution time of management procedures is critical, because it determines the efficiency and practical usability of the grid. Thus, the paper will show similarities and differences in the approach to the problems of complex systems synthesis and in the approach to management of distributed grid systems.

The cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the major causes of death among the people having diabetes in addition to smoking habits. It will create tribulations for every organ of the human body. Smoking becomes fashion among the youth from their childhood which results in premature death. The intention of this paper is to explain the impact of diabetes and smoking along with high BP, high pulse rate, angina affect, and family history on the CVD risk level. The concept used is based on the knowledge-based system. We have proposed a fuzzy-logic-based prediction system to evaluate the CVD risk among the people having diabetes with smoking habits. The aim is to facilitate the experts to provide the medication as well as counsel the smokers well in advance. This will not merely save the individual but also an immense relief to concern. The data set is used from UCI (Machine Learning Repository). Most of the researchers worked on diabetes or smoking impact on CVD separately, but the proposed system demonstrates how drastically it will affect ones' health condition.

This paper tackles problems where attribute selection is not only able to choose a few features but also to achieve a low performance classification in terms of accuracy compared to the full attribute set. Correlation-based feature selection (CFS) has been set as the baseline attribute subset selector due to its popularity and high performance. Around hundred data sets have been collected and submitted to CFS;then the problems fulfilling simultaneously the conditions: (a) a number of selected attributes lower than six and (b) a percentage of selected attributes lower than a forty per cent, have been tested onto two directions. Firstly, in the scope of data selection at the feature level, an advanced contemporary approach have been conducted as well as some options proposed in a prior work. Secondly, the pre-processed and initial problems have been tested with some sturdy classifiers. Moreover, this work introduces a new taxonomy of feature selection according to the solution type and the followed way to compute it. The test bed comprises seven problems featured by a low dimensionality after the CFS application, three out of them report a single selected attribute, another one with two extracted features and the three remaining data sets with four or five retained attributes;additionally, the initial feature set is between six and twenty-nine and the complexity of the problems, in terms of classes, fluctuates between two and twenty-one, throwing averages of sixteen and around five for both aforementioned properties. The contribution concluded that the advanced procedure (extended CFS) is suitable for problems where only one or two attributes are selected by CFS;for data sets with more than two selected features the baseline method is preferable to the advanced one, although the considered feature ranking method achieved intermediate results.

This paper illustrates the design of proportional-integral-derivative controller (PID) controller of 10 KW air heaters for achieving the set point temperature as fast as possible with minimum response overshoot. Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) numerical simulations are utilized to predict the natural response of 10 KW input power for the air heater. CFD results are validated with experimental empirical correlations that insure the reliability of open loop results. The open loop response of CFD transient simulations is used to model the air heater transfer function and design the classical PID controllers. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is used to tune the PID controller with various error fitness functions which leads to improve the closed loop response of the temperature control system compared to the classical tuning methods.

Safety competence is an important process operator skill. Due to hazardous work assignment and environments, skills in assessing the risks related to occupational safety and health (OSH) are especially important. Carrying out risk assessments can be difficult, and several problems have been identified. The aim of this study was to discover how well process operator students are able to assess OSH-related risks. Risk assessment exercises with observations were carried out for students (n = 35) in three vocational education and training (VET) organizations. The results showed that all students were able to identify at least some hazards. The students identified the most probable, high-risk, and easily observable hazards. Those with previous training or experience in work and risk assessment were more capable of identifying a wide range of risks. We conclude that successful risk assessment requires related competence, which should be developed via theoretical and practical learning during VET.
