The development of information and communications technologies allow solving various classes of tasks, ranging from the optimization of individual transactions and ending with the construction of systems for implementing strategies at the level of the corporation, the sector or the economy of country as a whole. By increasing the scale of the task, the part of factors outside the control zone grows. However, with the growth of the informational maturity of the economy, the number of zones of inaccessibility are becoming smaller. The article considers the model of engineering services management. For the Russian economic reality, in addition to the micro-level models (a customer-oriented approach and the capabilities model), meso-level and macro-level models are actual. As a result of the transition from the planned system of economic activity to market mechanisms, the product chains, uniting a large number of different enterprises, were disrupted. Previously related companies were in various industrial holdings. The existing disunity is aggravated by the existing legal regulation of economic activity. With the object of creating a competitive environment, it does not allow to form the long contracts. These provisions also do not contribute to the formation of longtime strategies for both individual enterprises and the sector. The article shows how the use of information models, being indicative of the life cycle of an engineering project can help solve the accumulated problems.

Acquiring a second language is a challenging task for everyone, especially for immigrants. In this case study, we examined the use of the WhatsApp application as a support tool for language learning among immigrants. The study took place at an Ulpan in Tel Aviv. The participants were new immigrants from different countries who study or have studied Hebrew as a second language at the Ulpan (special schools for immigrants for Hebrew learning). This qualitative research, conducted through personal interviews. The participants were asked to describe how they use the WhatsApp group opened for them by the teacher during a Hebrew language course at the Ulpan. The interviews raised many insights relating to the perceived affordance of WhatsApp use by students and their Ulpan teacher. The findings reveal interesting and unique WhatsApp usage: Textual-based as well as Voice-based and visual-based communication.

Numerous optimal design applications are black-box mixed integer nonlinear optimization problems: with objective function and constraints that are outputs of a black-box simulator involving mixed continuous and integer (discrete) variables. In this paper, we address an optimal design application for bladed disks of turbo-machines in aircraft. We discuss the formulation of an appropriate distance with respect to discrete variables which can deal with the cyclic symmetry property of the system under study. The necklace concept is introduced to characterize similar blade configurations and an adapted distance is proposed for discrete space exploration of a derivative-free optimization method. The results obtained with this method on a simplified industrial application are compared with results of state-of-the-art black-box optimization methods.

A block diagram of an automated system of material moisture content control is presented. The system provides automatic measurement of the amplitudes of the incident and reflected waves, automatic frequency tuning in a given range, automatic measurement of the resonant frequency, processing of data on a PC, and presentation of data in the form of numerical and graphic information on the display screen and printer.

In visual communication design, the coding and decoding of graphics is an inseparable whole, the coding is for the vividness of information transmission, and the decoding is for the complete release of graphics information. Sleep stage classification is the categorisation of Electroencephalogram (EEG) epoch into different sleep stages. Various supervised and unsupervised models have been developed for sleep stage classification. Emphasis of those models has been on classifying sleep stages using deep learning models such as the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), however, very limited work exists on interpreting those CNN filters learned from EEG data in a supervised manner. This paper focuses on investigating and interpreting the output filters of the first CNN layer of the DeepSleepNet model, which is a model developed for automatic sleep stage scoring based on raw Single-Channel EEG. Experiments were carried out using a public benchmark dataset, namely the Sleep EDF Database. Spectral properties of both EEG epoch (input) and the learned filters obtained from the first CNN layer were compared. Results showed similar spectral properties between sleep EEG patterns and the learned filters which were obtained from the first CNN layer, and these findings suggest that 'sleep stage'-defining EEG patterns are associated with certain learned CNN filters.

To provide better services and new future offerings to their customers, an enterprise in the financial services industry in Indonesia has decided to use Kubernetes, an application container technology, to serve their digital services through applications, developed with micro-services architecture concepts. The new services and technology were expected to utilize their existing virtualized resources without introducing any additional hardware. The goal of this study was to provide a secure network infrastructure design for the Kubernetes deployment in their Data Center. Network and security were still viewed as important aspects and focus. This study provided a design with network recommendations from the likes of Cisco and VMware, and Forrester's Zero Trust model as its security guideline. Each of the recommendations has been evaluated and written through this study. The simulation results showed that the proposed design was able to conform with the enterprise's requirements and constraints, and successfully applying Zero Trust's requirement in the container networks.

This study applies the principle of artificial neural networks for modelling the mechanical characteristics of a lightweight self-compacting concrete containing pumice and mineral admixtures. Models for predicting compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strengths were developed based on several measures of the materials as obtained from the experimental stage. The input parameters for the model were contents of cement, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), rice husk ash (RHA), fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, pumice stone, water, super-plasticizers and micro-silica. Three output parameters, including compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength were considered. The data were trained, tested and validated using the feedforward backpropagation algorithm. The study established the best model for the tested concrete, based on the minimal error criteria, as 9 (input), 12 (hidden layer) and 3 (output layer). This model is expected to serve as a useful tool for concrete designers and constructors.

IoT (Internet of Things) is creating a completely different world: What this World 2.0 is different from the traditional world is humans and products work together as a team. In traditional engineering, humans gave instructions from outside and products responded. It is verbal and conversation based. But with the increasing changes, humans need to be in the system to perceive and understand the current situations and to make appropriate decisions. Thus, adaptability becomes more important than functions, which are reproducibility-based. And IoT is internet-based. Internet is communication based and speakers and receivers share the commons and the receiver understands what the speaker has on his mind, or, in other words, the receiver can assume the intent of the speaker, although it may not be verbally expressed. Such big differences of World 2.0 calls for a new perspective in engineering. Engineering up to now are product-focused and its approaches are material science-based. But to realize World 2.0, we must remove the wall between material science and life science and establish the world where living and nonliving things can work together. Therefore, engineering tomorrow is no more product-based, and we will not be paying our efforts to develop better products, but we will be developing a society where humans and products can work and live together. In short, we will be developing a new society.

As one of the basic data of GIS, DEM data which expresses the surface elevation data is widely used in many fields. How to obtain a wide range of high-precision elevation data is a big challenge, the simple interpolation algorithm currently used is less accurate. Due to the fractal data characteristics of terrain data, DEM data shows strong self-similarity. Based on this feature, this paper proposes a multi-layer Dem image up-sampling method. Image up-sampling is performed multiple times in layers on the low-resolution DEM image, therefore, high-precision DEM information with less error is obtained. In this paper, elevation data of 30 m is expanded to elevation data of 10 m by gradually using this method. Experimental results show that the algorithm can achieve good results and has a small deviation from the real elevation data of 10 m.
