To meet high demand of hydrocarbons, innovative techniques are imperative, therefore hydraulic fracturing become popular to extract hydrocarbons from shale and tight formations. Designing of treatment and selection of most appropriate well for hydraulic fracturing plays a vital role to achieve maximum benefit from this expensive technology. Designing hydraulic fracturing job initiates with identification of best candidate well for job which includes understanding geological factors of area, well location, lithology, selection of proppant volume and understanding of created fracturing geometry, proppant volume. Other main constituents are fracture geometry which includes fracturing length, height and width. Fuzzy Logic systems application is vastly used in research area of petroleum engineering. This paper is focused on using fuzzy logic technique to decide best well for best well for hydraulic fracturing. Selection of most suitable well for hydraulic fracturing, among many zones/layers within many numbers of producing wells is reflected makes it difficult, especially when the selection process depends upon on a group of parameters having different variables, attributes and features. This process becomes multifaceted, nonlinear and advocate with uncertainties. This technique is proved to reduce uncertainties in selection of most suitable well for stimulation and hydraulic fracturing. In the end of this paper example is also provided where fuzzy logic was used to reduce the uncertainties and by selecting the best candidate well, hydrocarbons (gas) production of candidate well was increased four times of its natural ability by using fuzzy logic.

Predicting client churn in telecommunication industries becomes the most significant topic for analysis in recent years. Because its helps in detecting which customer are likely to change or cancel their subscription to a service. Analysis of information that is extracted from telecommunication companies will help to seek out the explanations of client churn and also uses the knowledge to retain the purchasers. Thus, predicting churn is extremely necessary for telecommunication firms to retain their customers. During this paper, we have designed the classification model using call tree, evaluated the performance measures, and compared its performance with logistic regression model.

A substantial amount of time is wasted away during traffic which occurs due to the unsteadiness of traveling circumstances. Traffic congestion is both recurring and non-recurring. Recurring occurs on a daily basis owing to the lack of road capacity as more vehicles are communicating at a certain time than what the road can accommodate at that instance of time. Non-recurring congestion arises due to transitory interference in travel and obstacles such as terrible weather, double parking, vehicle collision, or accidents. Big data analytics and IoT can jointly be used to regulate the traffic in a transport management system. Information may be gathered in real time using cameras, sensors, various wearable gadgets, and smart devices under IoT devices. Sensors linked to traffic signal junction keep transferring information to a central server. The behavior of traffic over time can be illustrated by drawing an analysis of the heavy congestion periods. Data analysis models are assisted cities to operate effortlessly in terms of traffic management. An endeavor has been taken to propose amethod that helps traffic congestion under the smart city. Here, we propose to use the concept of IoT that suggests a sensor node and camera be fitted on every junction of the road to capture real-time traffic data. In this regard, the concept of the central server may also be used for storing traffic data and forwarding the status and the best feasible alternate route to high-priority vehicles to avoid real-time congestion on either event-driven or demand-based.

In case of a natural disaster, evacuees must escape to a shelter in safely and quickly. However, a disaster makes inactive route to shelters easily at the distressed areas. So, it is hard to escape in safely by route selected based on only the known information before disaster. For the safe route selection for the evacuation on a disaster, evacuees need the realtime information for the available routes information at the disaster distressed areas. This paper proposes exchanging available route information among evacuees by realtime ad-hoc communication. In proposal system, available route information obtained by evacuees facing at their evacuation, is exchanged over DTN (Delay Tolerant Network) when the any two evacuees are passed each other. This paper also clarifies the advantages of exchanging available route information by the computer simulations.

The rate of traffic accident is increasing worldwide, which resulted to severe injuries, fatalities and economic loses. More than 1.25 million people lose their lives every year and 50 million are non-fatally wounded in road accident worldwide. The severity of road traffic accident are attributed to many factors which include human (age, gender), road (road alignment, roads surface), and environment (moisture, weather) among others. Nevertheless, some factors are more significant than others in increasing the severity level of injuries sustained by victims of accident. In previous studies, few feature selection techniques were used to get the most relevant and non-redundant features prior to prediction of severity of road traffic accident. Among the techniques of feature selection which includes filter, wrapper, embedded and hybrid, only filter technique has been considered. However, the filter feature selection techniques (filter correlation, mutual information) are inadequate at finding optimal features. Additionally, the redundant feature doesn't only affect the performance of the classification algorithm but also computational time. To this end, this paper, Proposed a hybrid discrete Particle Swarm Optimization with Fast Correlation Based Feature Selection (DPSO_FCBF) technique for selecting the most significant features for the prediction of severity of road traffic accident. In this technique, the discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO) search for the optimum values and the fast correlation based feature selection (FCBF) evaluate the selected optimum values to select the most relevant features, then DPSO update the personal best (Pbest) and global best (Gbest) for the optimal solution. The proposed technique has been evaluated using benchmark road traffic accident dataset. In this paper, we proposed a Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm for efficient hardware implementation of mathematical functions which can be carried out in a wide variety of ways for many digital signal processing applications. The CORDIC is a single unified algorithm for calculating many elementary functions such as trigonometric, hyperbolic, logarithmic function, exponential functions, multiplication, division, and so on. In this paper, a novel low power, low area, and high throughput fixed-point CORDIC algorithms are proposed. The standard CORDIC is also implemented for comparing the synthesis results. The proposed architecture scaling has been done using low area and low-power Scale Factor Correction Unit (SFCU). A low ADP SQRT-CSLA based ADD/SUB unit is proposed to overcomed the disadvantages of the basic ADD/SUB unit used in the standard CORDIC. The ROM lookup table size is also reduced to half. Extensive simulations are performed to verify the functionality. The standard and proposed CORDIC architectures are simulated in cadence NC launch and synthesized in cadence RC tool using TSMC GPDK 45 nm technology and area, power, and delay are calculated. The area and power consumption of the proposed CORDIC architecture are less when compared with standard CORDIC design.

DDoS attack is posing an immense threat to Internet and online businesses. DDoS attack makes an online service unavailable to legitimate users by sending voluminous number of dummy requests or by exploiting some vulnerability or security flaws present in current Internet infrastructure. Information present on Internet needs to be defended against DDoS attack by not only technological means but also with the help of economic means using incentives as a tool. In this paper, we have proposed a model using a network management strategy which involves policies to maintain quality of service (QoS) during a DDoS attack. User must have sending rights in the form of contract to access server. A XML form having different fields on QoS parameters is provided by the service provider which a user has to fill with the help of policies present in policy pool. This XML form is turned into contract after evaluation by the control broker. Policy-based network management (PBNM) is used to execute proposed approach which enables user to have dynamic negotiation with the service provider on the cost and types of resources. Proposed model has been implemented on NS2. Results obtained from simulation show the supremacy of our proposed model.

Speaker recognition systems have shown good performance in noise-free environments, but the performance will severely deteriorate in the presence of noises. At the front end of the systems, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC), or a relatively noise-robust feature Gammatone Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (GFCC), is commonly used as time-frequency feature. To further improve the noise-robustness of GFCC, signal processing techniques, such as DC removal, pre-emphasis and Cepstral Mean Variance Normalization (CMVN), are investigated in the extraction of GFCC. Being aware the advantages and disadvantages of MFCC and GFCC, an adaptive strategy was proposed to make feature selection based on the quality of speech. Experiments were conducted on TIMIT dataset to evaluate our approach. Compared with ordinary GFCC and MFCC features, our method significantly reduced the EER in speech data with miscellaneous SNRs.

The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of gender and prior experience with virtual reality (VR) on Immersive User Experience. We propose to use IUX to describe user experience with immersive technologies. IUX includes traditional component of UX (i.e., pragmatic quality and hedonic qualities identification and stimulation) as well as components specific to VR (i.e., presence and cybersickness). We conducted an experiment with 52 students, asking them to perform an aeronautical assembly task in VR. Results show that gender has an effect on two subscales of presence - self-assessment of performance and ability to act - and on hedonic quality stimulation. Prior experience with VR has an effect on self-assessment of performance, pragmatic quality and hedonic quality stimulation. Gender and prior experience with VR have an insignificant effect on cybersickness.

Driving comfort is considered a key factor for broad public acceptance of automated driving. Based on continuous driver/passenger monitoring, potential discomfort could be avoided by adapting automation features such as the driving style. The EU-project MEDIATOR (***) aims at developing a mediating system in automated vehicles by constantly evaluating the performance of driver and automation. As facial expressions could be an indicator of discomfort, a driving simulator study has been carried out to investigate this relationship. A total of 41 participants experienced three potentially uncomfortable automated approach situations to a truck driving ahead. The face video of four cameras was analyzed with the Visage facial feature detection and face analysis software, extracting 23 Action Units (AUs). Situation-specific effects showed that the eyes were kept open and eye blinks were reduced (AU43). Inner brows (AU1) as well as upper lids (AU5) raised, indicating surprise. Lips were pressed (AU24) and stretched (AU20) as sign for tension. Overall, facial expression analysis could contribute to detect discomfort in automated driving.
