The study deepens the design of a joining system for bamboo spatial structure by proposing new and advanced solutions that guarantee maximum freedom of composition to the designer. The joint allows to determine and control parametrically the adaptability to any spatial grid configuration of culms with heterogeneous dimensions. Despite the bamboo being one of the main natural building materials in the field of sustainable architecture, currently, it is not used enough due to the lack of adequate connection systems. Bamboo is a rapidly growing renewable resource, naturally available, which is quite strong and lends itself to structural applications. The paper proposes an innovative approach to architectural design by parametric modelling techniques developed in recent years in parallel with advances in the field of computational geometry. The 3D prototyping of different types of joints and the architectural-compositional design of a temporary structure, destined to be used as an exhibition pavilion, have made it possible to validate the technological solution defined.

The paper focuses on a comprehensive solution of the problem of improving the efficiency of industrial engineering systems. At the same time, automated design systems, process control and product quality systems ensure time reduction and quality improvement of fitting-out in multiproduct machine building industry. The paper proposes the concept of organizational and technological design in production process development. The concept takes into account the agility of production systems and performance goals. The paper shows the order of implementing the proposed approaches and their successful execution conditions.

Online advertising is an industry with the potential for maximum revenue extraction. Displaying the ad which is more likely to be clicked plays a crucial role in generating maximum revenue. A high click through rate (CTR) is an indication that the user finds the ad useful and relevant. For suitable placement of ads online and rich user experience, determining CTR has become imperative. Accurate estimation of CTR helps in placement of advertisements in relevant locations which would result in more profits and return of investment for the advertisers and publishers. This paper presents the application of a soft clustering method namely fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering for determining if a particular ad would be clicked by the user or not. This is done by classifying the ads in the dataset into broad clusters depending on whether they were actually clicked or not. This way the kind of advertisements that the user is interested in can be found out and subsequently more advertisements of the same kind can be recommended to him, thereby increasing the CTR of the displayed ads. Experimental results show that FCM outperforms k-means clustering (KMC) in determining CTR.

The research is carried out in Petrila, a small town in Jiu Valley, Romania, a mono-industrial area, which was formed and developed on the basis of mining activity, an area that declined after 1990 and which now seeks a sustainable recovery formula, tourism development being one of the alternatives. The research was conducted to establish the premises for a Business Model for Petrila Theme Park. For this, firstly, the potential effects generated by the development of tourism, economic, social and environmental activities from the point of view of the inhabitants were determined. Thus, the model and hypotheses were tested to determine the relationship between the types of effects generated and the general community satisfaction. Also, are presented the results of evaluating the attitude of the inhabitants toward the development of a theme park and the use in this context of modern technologies such as augmented reality. The perspective opened by the presented research is to build an industrial tourist area, as an alternative to the closed mining activity.

This study develops predictive models for determination of strength parameters of laterized concrete made with ceramic aggregates, based on the principle of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). The model development follows the results of the experimental phase (covering compressive and split-tensile strengths), where numerous materials were used in varying proportions: ceramics (fine and coarse fractions), river sand, and granite were substituted between 0 and 100%, laterite between 0 and 30%, and curing ages between 3 and 91 days. The cement proportion was maintained at 100%, and the water-cement ratio was 0.6. The model development was performed in MATLAB based on the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) principles, where input data were separated in ratio 70%:15%:15% for learning, testing, and validation phases, respectively. After several trials, the selected model architecture, based on satisfactory performance in terms of means square error, contains eight-input layer, ten-hidden layer, and two-output layer neurons.

Although shill bidding is a common fraud in online auctions, it is however very tough to detect because there is no obvious evidence of it happening. There are limited studies on SB classification because training data are difficult to produce. In this study, we build a high-quality labeled shill bidding dataset based on recently scraped auctions from eBay. Labeling shill biding instances with multidimensional features is a tedious task but critical for developing efficient classification models. For this purpose, we introduce a new approach to effectively label shill bidding data with the help of the robust hierarchical clustering technique CURE. As illustrated in the experiments, our approach returns remarkable results.

The present scenario of India is highly urban-centric regarding business development. The growing knowledge and consciousness of brands in rural India attract attention in spite of tedious supply chain which has levels of hierarchies for suppliers, distributors and finally the consumers. The business requires a mechanism to track the goods at every level of the supply chain system. The report released by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in 2017 points that out of the total 481 million Internet users, urban India has 295 million Internet users and the rest 186 million is rural. This is a huge opportunity to tap the rural market. The proposed model presents a framework of crowdsourcing applications for the optimization of the supply chain. The focus is on developing effective communication and mapping value of the goods produced and making available goods and services at low cost to the consumers. There is a potential for parcel delivery to villagers who are registered and willing to deliver for a nominal amount. Crowdsourcing approach can fasten the delivery time and lessen the cost too by the implementation of the algorithm. The trend analysis was done to understand the current demand. The gap between urban and rural markets can be reduced with this endeavor which involves Crowdshipping as a tool to optimize resources.

Context: Software quality is an important factor for reducing costs or increasing sales of a software developing company. Humans are involved in the whole software development process. This suggests that human factors have an influence on the result of the development process. Aim: We aimed to understand which distinct human factors or personality traits have an influence on which distinct software quality attributes. Method: For this purpose, we conducted a Systematic Literature Review following the guidelines of Kitchenham and Charters. Results: Existing studies show a link between human factors or personality types and software quality in general. There were only two studies which mentioned an influence on distinct software quality aspects: Extraversion influences decomposition, modularization, testability, functionality, re-usability and programming style. Personality in general influences memory consumption and runtime. Conclusions: We expected to find more such links but research conducted until now is far from being sufficient to provide a strong basis for making clear statements on the link between the personality of a software engineer and distinct software quality attributes.

This work is the product of an investigation that aims to develop a model that allows the consolidation of the informal human settlement Monte Sinahi, located in the northeast of the city of Guayaquil - Ecuador. The structure of the methodological process is carried out in two phases: in Phase 1 it consists in carrying out an exhaustive process of research and selection of methodology based on participatory methods, application in informal urban contexts of Latin America. Phase 2 consists on the design of diagnostic processes and urban model for the consolidation of informal human settlements in Guayaquil, based on the study of participatory activities carried out.

In this paper, we survey several ongoing research threads that can be applied to web accessibility solutions. We focus on the challenges with automatically evaluating the accessibility violations in websites that are built primarily with JavaScript. There are several research efforts that in aggregate provide insight into how users interact with websites;how to automate and simulate user interactions;how to record the results of user interactions;and how to analyze, evaluate, and map resulting website content to determine the relative accessibility. We close with a discussion on the convergence of these threads and the future of automated, web-based accessibility evaluation, and assurance.
