The information model of semantic structure of informational education material and the corresponding information technology for creation of semantic structure of educational materials are considered the article. Research of efficiency of information technology for creation of semantic structure of informational educational materials with the help of corresponding software is the ultimate goal of this article. The information model of semantic structure of informational education material is the formal representation of semantic structure of informational education material of the course of discipline, and in the given form it allows to use it as the model for implementation of the corresponding information technology. The information model includes the set of headings, the set of terms, the set of words and the set of relations. The established effectiveness of the proposed technology allows use it to solution a number of urgent tasks, such as semantic assistance in creating tests, determination the conformity of sets of test tasks to educational materials, determination the conformity of educational materials to content requirements, etc.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that can be used to design smart systems without incurring lots of money. Although, the legislation forces to install an analog fire alarm system to every household in modern era, the system is not smart enough to send immediate notifications to the concerned individual. The analog fire alarm cannot avoid the immediate risk or damage of fire as no one stays at home all the time. The earlier the incident is reported to the concerned individual the better to reduce the fire damage. In this paper, we have proposed a smart fire-alarm system that consists of a smoke sensor and a sound sensor that can detect the smoke and the noise of the analog fire alarm system (with a view to detect whether the analog fire alarm system is working) respectively, and can notify the user about the status immediately. We have implemented the proposed smart fire-alarm system and conducted experiments to determine the effectiveness of the system. The results show that the system is reliable under various conditions of smoke and alarm noises.

Spark iswidely used as a distributed computing framework for in-memory parallel processing. It implements distributed computing by splitting the jobs into tasks and deploying them on executors on the nodes of a cluster. Executors are JVMs with dedicated allocation of CPU cores and memory. The number of tasks depends on the partitions of input data. Depending on the number of CPU cores allocated to executors, one or more cores get allocated to one task. Tasks run as independent threads on executors hosted on JVMs dedicated exclusively to the executor. One or more executors are deployed on the nodes of the cluster depending on the resource availability. The performance advantage provided by distributed computing on Spark framework depends on the level of parallelism configured at 3 levels, namely node level, executor level, and task level. The parallelism at each of these levels should be configured to fully utilize the available computing resources. This paper recommends optimum parallelism configuration for Apache Spark framework deployed on Hadoop YARN cluster. The recommendations are based on the results of the experiments conducted to evaluate the dependency of parallelism at each of these levels on the performance of Spark applications. For the purpose of the evaluation, a CPU-intensive job and an I/O-intensive job are used. The performance is measured by varying the parallelism at each of the 3 levels. The results presented in this paper help Spark users in selecting optimum parallelism at each of these levels for achieving maximum performance for Spark jobs by maximum resource utilization.

Heart rate variability (HRV) is the physiological variation of time between heart beats caused by the activity of autonomic nervous system. Heart rate variability analysis has found various applications in the diagnosis and treatment of different clinical and functional conditions. One of the prominent approaches in HRV analysis are Poincare map. HRV analysis is traditionally performed on electrocardiograms (ECG) although seismocardiograms can also be used. In this study we compare indices derived from Poincare maps on electrocardiograms and seismocardiograms found in CEBS database available on ***. Poincare map is a non-linear method of HRV analysis which uses diagrams in which inter-beat intervals are plotted as a function of previous inter-beat intervals. We found that there are no significant differences of indices of Poincare maps calculated on electrocardiograms and seismocardiograms, which indicates the reliability of seismocardiogram as a source signal in non-linear HRV analysis using Poincare maps.

This paper describes the problem of relations between some macroeconomic indexes and microeconomic financial indicators of an organization during rapid and disastrously changes in the surroundings. The analysis of these relationships was carried out for ten Polish transport companies operating on international market, covered the period of the financial crisis 2008-2011, when catastrophic changes of macroeconomic indicators have taken place. Particularly interesting is impact of some changes of the GDP, PMI and IFO indexes on the economic state of organizations from logistic and transport sector. They are the most flexible, continuously adapting themselves to conditions arisen temporarily in the business environment. Changes of their economic state are mainly characterized by the ROE, ROS, ROA and the income ratio values. We propose a relational model of macro and micro economic indicators enabling optimization of organization's behaviour under conditions of critical changes in macro environment. We conclude that there exists a rational forecast of determining the economic state of an organization resulting from the analysis of changes in some macroeconomic indexes.

Obstacle detection and avoidance during navigation of an autonomous vehicle is one of the challenging problems. Different sensors like RGB camera, Radar, and Lidar are presently used to analyze the environment around the vehicle for obstacle detection. Analyzing the environment using supervised learning techniques has proven to be an expensive process due to the training of different obstacle for different scenarios. In order to overcome such difficulty, in this paper Reinforcement Learning (RL) techniques are used to understand the uncertain environment based on sensor information to make the decision. Policy free, model-free Q-learning based RL algorithm with the multilayer perceptron neural network (MLP-NN) is applied and trained to predict optimal vehicle future action based on the current state of the vehicle. Further, the proposed Q-Learning with MLP-NN based approach is compared with the state of the art, namely, Q-learning. A simulated urban area obstacles scenario is considered with the different number of ultrasonic radar sensors in detecting obstacles. The experimental result shows that Q-learning with MLP-NN along with the ultrasonic sensors is proven to be more accurate than conventional Q-learning technique with the ultrasonic sensors. Hence it is demonstrated that combining Qlearning with MLP-NN will improve in predicting obstacles for autonomous vehicle navigation.

The HPC-as-a-Service concept is to provide users with simple and intuitive access to a supercomputing infrastructure without the need to buy and manage their own physical servers or data centers. This article presents the commonly used services and implementations of this concept and introduces our own in-house application framework called High-End Application Execution Middleware (HEAppE Middleware). HEAppE's universally designed software architecture enables unified access to different HPC systems through simple object-oriented web-based APIs, thus providing HPC capabilities to users without the necessity to manage the running jobs forms the command-line interface of the HPC scheduler directly on the cluster. This article also contains the list of several pilot use-cases from a number of thematic domains where the HEAppE Platform was successfully used. Two of those pilots, focusing on satellite image analysis and bioimage informatics, are presented in more detail.

The spatial resolution of panchromatic (PAN) and thermal infrared (TIR) band is 15 m and 100 m respectively in Landsat-8 satellite dataset. The current research proposes an Intensity transformation based fusion method (ITFM) of PAN and TIR imagery. The proposed fusion method introduces unscented spatial filtering of input TIR and PAN images and component based fusion to downscale coarse resolution thermal data. The proposed algorithm has been examined with three thermal image downscaling methods, i.e., DisTrad, TsHARP and Local model. The relative comparison of fusion algorithms results has shown that the proposed ITFM fusion method has outperformed the other conventional methods. The proposed ITFM fusion method has merged edge details from PAN band and earth surface thermal information from TIR band precisely.

The execution of AI models, especially deep learning models, involves large quantity of processor operations and high memory transfer, which is critical to edge environment. To response to this, a number of specific hardware, a.k.a. edge AI accelerators, have been developed to accelerate the AI model execution in edge. Nevertheless, with no dominant design in the domain, existing AI accelerators hold different physical types, hardware features and software capabilities, and users without prior knowledge can barely choose the proper accelerator corresponding to their computation requirements. This paper aims at providing a systematic survey of AI accelerators for edge environment: firstly we briefly introduce the AI computation requirements and AI accelerator history;we then present a list of criteria covering both hardware and software aspects;following the criteria, we survey the emerging and representative AI accelerator products. At last, we summary the current trends and shed light on future directions for AI accelerator design.
