The global biodiversity crisis is becoming one of the key challenges for the global community. At the same time, hands-on knowledge of local biodiversity is decreasing among young people, replaced by information about global issues and/or artificial products provided by the media. While information and computer technologies (ICT) are blamed for the alienation of people from the natural world surrounding them, they may also be used for education about wildlife. The article describes a case study of the use of ICT for education about local biodiversity. A progressive web app (PWA) as a universal software solution for all types of devices was used for creating a virtual educational path within the biodiversity-rich urban park. ThePWA complements and expands existing educational facilities, provides a multimedia experience when learning about local biodiversity, and introduces elements of gamification to increase the motivation of users.

The purpose of this study is to propose a reliable multiple-choice or multiple-response assessment generation procedure. A question of the assessment passing threshold selection is considered. The study uses simulation for the test outcomes distribution evaluation which is used for the assessment passing threshold calculation. The relation between the number of answers and distractors in a task and assessment reliability is shown. The reliable assessment generation procedure based on simulation and statistics is proposed. The web application for students testing purposes based on the proposed approach is implemented. The proposed method can be used for online studying as well as offline ones.

The aim of our paper is to share our experience with fostering motivation of mature students to develop new competences to use technology in learning. For some mature age students, technology may be another source of anxiety, because they do not have sufficient previous experience in this respect. This is the reason why, an important role for a teacher of mature age learners is that of preparing them to use the technology in a non-threatening context meant to build positive attitudes in adults towards both technology and learning. Our pilot study refers to the changes of attitudes adult learners might have experienced when their fears to use technology had been reduced.

The purpose is to find out the public's perception of the information transmitted by COVID-19 in Ecuador's conventional social communication media between March and June 2020, since it is the first country in the region to be affected. The questions: Was there a lack of information?, What information would citizens like to receive? and What strategies should the media implement?" are answered through a qualitative methodological approach of a descriptive and relational type. The research techniques are survey, content analysis, interviews with experts and description of digital publications. The conclusion is that there was little transparency and little research. According to those surveyed, the media should not subordinate deontology to immediacy. The urgency of contrast, consistency, multiple sources and educational approaches is shown. Stories require a humane approach and build transmedia stories. What happened in Ecuador is a reference for other realities, for example in neighboring countries of the Andean area.

Additive manufacturing, which enables the production of highly complex components that were previously next to impossible to manufacture, has evolved from a tool for rapid prototyping to an integral part of many production lines in the metal manufacturing industry. Therefore, it is critical that today's students, the manufacturing engineers of tomorrow, get a fundamental understanding of the process and the influence of the various process parameters on the process and the final product properties. The developed remote lab offers the students an opportunity to vary different process parameters and characterize the performance of specimens manufactured under different conditions with help of the uniaxial tensile test and to quantitatively analyze the interplay of different process parameters on the final product. From the educator's point of view, the remote lab will allow for a higher throughput of students in the field of additive manufacturing without compromising on the machine and user safety, as well as the effectiveness of the lab.

Laboratory course is traditionally one of the most important components of university physics course. It is supposed that after such course students will have basic skills for conducting an experimental research. Unfortunately, the teaching experience and the results of performed tests show that most students do not acquire the necessary skills. In this article we present a new laboratory physics course in which the algorithm of systematic construction of students' skills for carrying out an experimental research is realized. The evaluation of the first part of the course is based on responses to a written questionnaire administered to three groups of students: an experimental group (85 students) and two control groups (61 and 23 students). The results suggest that the new course provides more effective learning the basic skills of error analysis.

Distance education is today a major pedagogical innovation and makes it possible to solve not only the problem of the massification of baccalaureate holders and the professionalization of training, but also and above all to optimize pedagogical and human resources. This type of teaching is based on digital platforms that contain educational resources. Consequently, for a good follow-up of learners in the conduct of the courses, the existing training platforms integrate a so-called tutoring system. However, although this system allows learners to be monitored by their tutors, it has many shortcomings, including the loss of quality in distance education due to a lack of continuous interactivity of tutoring. This lack of interactivity can come from the learner or the tutor and it is even worse if it has to come from the tutor. This paper aims to provide a constant and intelligent solution in the tutoring system. Our solution consists in guiding the learner as much as possible to carry out his tutoring even when the tutor is not available. Thus we propose a model that will take as input the useful course data from the tutor, and then make the necessary settings to allow the system to guide the learner in his learning process while avoiding any interruption in the tutoring.

Assistive technology is focused on supporting the restoration or improvement of functionalities of people with disabilities, thus achieving a better quality of life and optimal performance in educational, employment and social activities. This research addresses the issue of employment education for people with cognitive disabilities within Specialized Education Institutions and at home, as well as the limitations that tutors have in managing the content of technological applications because most of them are designed for a specific activity and do not allow the tutor to adapt it in a personalized way based on the needs of people with cognitive disabilities. It was proposed the development and evaluation of an author's tool called "TK-System", which allows tutors to manage learning objects through a web application so that they can be used by people with cognitive disabilities through a mobile application. For the execution of usability tests and questionnaires users were considered based on their knowledge (care of people with cognitive disabilities and IT), the results allowed to determine that the tool is useful and easy to use for the creation of learning objects, in addition to obtaining recommendations for improvement.

The scientific literature shows different cases that highlight the importance of university-industry cooperation for training in the area of engineering. Specifically, in engineering, the university's relationship with industry allows for greater ownership of established competencies in the training process, making graduates more attractive to the industry and encourages collective learning. In that sense, we conducted a bibliometric study related to university-business cooperation, specifically in the area of engineering. We performed a bibliographic coupling analysis to identify the most relevant publications in this field of study. We identified five big areas of research about the university-industry relationship in engineering: 1) Individual and organizational determinants of university-industry cooperation. 2) Impacts of university-business cooperation on industrial activity. 3) The relation between scientific productivity and collaboration with the industry. 4) The entrepreneurial university (business intentions of researchers). 5) Motivations of universities to cooperate with the industry. We suggest future lines of research based on the results of our study.

Steel manufacturing involves a series of dynamic processes that require an efficient and effective management of the plant resources. The coordination and the allocation of the resources is an important aspect for ensuring a continuous production flow as well as a good quality of the final products, especially when unexpected events can compromise the overall system performance. This paper presents an agent-based protocol for dynamic resource allocation in order to establish collaboration among agents within steel production processes. The proposed protocol is based on the brokering mechanism and is designed in order to solve the problem of the concurrency, which arises when several agents are interested in using the same resources, and to handle dynamic changes, such as unexpected events that can affect the resource allocation process. Experimental results show how the designed protocol allows the agents coordination by guaranteeing the use of the resources and the correct flow of the production.
