The purpose of this study was to redesign a mentoring system and verify its effects. The research field involved a blended instructional design (ID) course conducted as a university extension course composed of prior online assignments, face-to-face workshops, and post-learning assignments. The results demonstrated that the redesign of the ID course may improve the completion rates of online pre-training and post-learning assignments altogether. Additionally, the findings showed that motivational e-mails were useful for facilitating participants' access e-learning. Furthermore, some participants' reports suggested that the syllabus provided on the website gave participants a perspective of the course and motivated them to learn during the course. In addition, motivational e-mails were helpful in making participants feel a sense of belonging in the ID course. Based on these results, we proposed three design principles for supporting participants' completion of lifelong learning activities that do not provide incentives such as university credits and job promotions.

Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the body does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. The constant hyperglycemia of diabetes is related to long-haul harm, brokenness, and failure of various organs, particularly the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and veins. This last can be monitoring by doctors over the internet and especially social networks. In this context, having a healthcare social media strategy is no longer optional, it's a requirement. With the right strategy, social media will become a powerful tool to build trust, reach more patients, and spread valuable medical information. Furthermore, advances in mobile technology and the widespread use of smartphones and tablets will make an improvement in healthcare services at a rapid pace. In this paper, we propose a system that supports a community of diabetes people, their families and friends, doctors, nutritionist and anyone who might need or offer help and support to the community. Our objective is to develop a system that can predict, diagnose and monitor the diabetes or support diabetes self- management using machine learning algorithms and Big Data.

In addition to being considered as a food pantry by different entities, such as the FAO, the Colombian agriculture industry represents 6.7% of the country's GDP and 7.4% of total exports. This shows a clear inclination towards agriculture and the urgent demand for technicizing the countryside. Even more when considering the increase of almost 70% in food production, projected for 2050, to provide food for the people who will inhabit the world. However, even with government efforts, work in the small-scale Colombian agricultural sector is rudimentary and traditional. This leads to land degradation and low production, which prevents small farmers from competing in national and international markets on equal terms. This paper proposes a review of the literature using the DANDELION methodology, focused on the use of IoT in agriculture since this technology has proven to have interesting results in increasing food production by optimizing the amount of land, water, and other resources used by the agricultural sector. Evaluating each of the approaches in the context of good practices in IoT in agriculture, by comparing the definitions provided by the ITU, FAO, OECD, and World Bank since they are considered as recognized organizations offering their respective definitions of good practices both in IoT and in the agricultural sector. This work establishes a basis for standardizing the development of IoT solutions in agriculture at the national level and the state of IoT solutions in farming and several challenges to be solved in small-scale agriculture.

The objective of this work is to explore the potential use of electroencephalography (EEG) as a means for silent communication by way of decoding imagined speech from measured electrical brain waves. Communication using BCI can be used for medical and non-medical application. Worldwide a large number of people suffer from disabilities which impair normal communication. Communication BCI's are excellent tool which helps the affected patients communicate with others. BCI technology is used can be used in many different areas of life, beginning on most important field which is help people, through improving or making life easier and ending with entertainment. Also BCI technology can be used in military in different aspects, it may be used to monitor a soldier's cognitive workload, control a drone swarm, or link with a prosthetic, among other examples.

Crowdsourced data streams are continuous flows of data generated at high rate by users, also known as the crowd. These data streams are popular and extremely valuable in several domains. This is the case of tourism, where crowdsourcing platforms rely on tourist and business inputs to provide tailored recommendations to future tourists in real time. The continuous, open and non-curated nature of the crowd-originated data requires robust data stream mining techniques for on-line profiling, recommendation and evaluation. The sought techniques need, not only, to continuously improve profiles and learn models, but also be transparent, overcome biases, prioritise preferences, and master huge data volumes;all in real time. This article surveys the state-of-art in this field, and identifies future research opportunities.

The paper discusses educational robotics' potential to contribute to the process of societal transformation caused by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). An overview of educational robotics' questions is presented based on the authors' experience teaching supplementary education programs to K-12 students in digital fabrication environment as well as on several external review papers. A case study is presented to reveal and confirm some of the problems common for such project-oriented creative STEM related activities in supplementary education environment. One of which being inclusion in practical technical studies of different groups of students - a common challenge for the given educational robotics context.

Nowadays higher education deals with the challenge to train competitive specialist that will be capable of changing both social and economic development of the society. Online learning plays a special role in this process. Modern technologies of remote access (project "Psychological technology PSY TECH") give the opportunity not only to improve the quality of knowledge and the efficiency of the educational process, but also to solve various social problems associated with higher education system. Distance learning surpasses traditional one when it comes to life-long learning, professional development or occupational retraining. Remote access to the information and computing services allow you to achieve effectiveness and flexibility in the process of learning and development in the modern higher education. Remote platforms allow you to unify and correctly build an individual training route by taking into account students' individual psychological characteristics, age, and special needs. Modern higher education institutes are searching for effective models of interaction with students, teachers and other employees. Along with the functions of socialization, reproduction and development of corporate culture, great importance is given to the sociopsychological development of the future specialists. The attention is also drawn to managing teachers' and administrative staff's stress. Thus, the proposed model is relevant and has significant practical importance.

National economies impose new challenges on training competitive professionals who can succeed in high performance jobs. Financial management is one of them. This business demands professionals with innovative competences, and universities are responsible for training them. Professional development for financial managers, however, received little attention in recent publications. To bridge this gap, the article draws on the results of investigating the curricula for financial managers in universities. The paper aims at defining the theory and methodology underlying the professional development of financial managers and exploring the necessary changes to be introduced in the educational process, its content and forms. The following factors influencing the professional development of financial managers: awareness of personal psychological and physiological characteristics and capabilities, conscious professional choice, adaptability to university and profession, willingness for life-long learning, readiness for changes in profession. Based on these factors, the authors identified the following standards for the content of education for financial managers: student-centered approach to teaching management, marketing, human relations, entrepreneurship and business skills;project-based approach to teaching applied skills through real-world practice;close collaboration between the universities and employers. The survey results showed that the skills formed in university degree programs influence the professional development of financial managers and improve the competitiveness of the graduates. The survey revealed the basic competences of financial managers, including the innovative competences based on the professional standards and market demand. Further research can be aimed at developing special professional development programs for financial managers based on these findings.
