We are experiencing increasing interactions between individuals and smart environments, whether it is the interaction of smart devices during ordinary activities or teaching/learning. There is growing emphasis on teachers in passing their knowledge and experience to students to get students more engaged because students expect more interaction and communication in the online world. The virtual world is the type of online community, which is primarily a form of computer-simulated environment that users can use, create, and interconnect certain objects. Currently, there are some schools and educational institutions around the world providing the opportunity to attend part of the training courses using simulation games. Simulators and their possibilities will be described in this work together with examples of utilization of virtual reality for educational purposes.

This paper presents the implementation of a conversational agent in virtual environments oriented to industrial control processes in order to contribute to the improvement of teaching-learning processes. The application simulates the level control process in two virtual environments, the first one as a virtual laboratory and the second environment as an industrial process. The environments have been created with three-dimensional models based on Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) diagrams. The models have been simulated and animated using Unity 3D software. The environments exchange information in real time with MATLAB mathematical software to simulate the industrial process controller, achieving a high degree of realism. Each environment is assisted by a conversational agent who communicates with Dialogflow, a natural language understanding platform, to guide the user during their training. Test users were asked to provide feedback through a usability questionnaire, and these results are discussed at the end of this article.

The paper theoretically substantiates the need for managerial skills development in engineering students. The paper is focused on the basic traits necessary for the successful formation of managerial skills in engineering students, the impact of gender and "emotional quotient" (EQ) on leadership style, and the development of "hard" and "soft" skills. For a manager, there are no absolutely bad or good personal qualities, but their totality is a manageable resource. The gender factor here has a significant impact on management style and quality. Training programs based on students' personal characteristics and specific needs, a combination of coaching, training and individual classes guarantee the required level of managerial knowledge and skills. The emphasis is on the fact that training technologies and coaching methods are effective for the formation and development of managerial skills among students of engineering specialties. The authors believe that under current conditions, a greater emphasis in management practice should be placed on innovative principles and methods related to the formation and development of neuroplasticity, Neuro Science, EQ, etc. in engineering students.

Collaborative learning, by encouraging students to work together to maximize their learning, has great significance in the learning of software engineering, due to its marked teamwork character. Among the advantages of this type of learning is to promote critical thinking, by giving opportunities for its members to discuss the content of their learning. From a diagnosis made to the teaching and learning process of this discipline, in the third year of the degree in Informatics Science Engineering, were identified inadequacies in the learning of software analysis and modeling, which have caused, on occasion, errors in the modeling of the structure and behavior of a computer system. In order to minimize these difficulties, this paper presents a proposal to promote collaborative learning of software analysis and modeling, using the social network Facebook, based on a class system of the topic Analysis and software modeling of the materia Software Engineering I career Informatics Science Engineering. The results obtained show the potential of Facebook to promote the collaborative learning of Software Engineering, using as a sample a group of 30 students who actively used this social network.

This article describes the Blended Teaching and Learning methodologies and the pedagogical approaches that use Information and Communication Technologies in the field of Electrical and Computers Engineering (ECE) Education Programs. The paper also reflects the collaboration in the field of Online Engineering between the Technical University "Gh. Asachi" from Iasi, Romania and Menoufia University, Egypt, in the context of the Erasmus Plus Program of the European Union. In this paper, we have reviewed the recent documents of: European Society for Engineering Education, International Society for Engineering Education, Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, International Association of Online Engineering, and American Society for Engineering Education to identify the specific pedagogical characteristics used in the computerized training process. The integration of online laboratories in the engineering training process, the use of Virtual Learning Environments, the inclusion of Open Educational Resources are the strategies used in this project. The impact of using Massive Open Online Courses in Education Programs is also analyzed. The cooperation between our universities began in 2017 and have result in the publication of a number of articles in International Conferences Proceedings in 2018 and 2019: International Conference on Virtual Learning, eLearning and Software for Education, International Conference on Electromechanical and Energy systems. Between August 1, 2020 and July 31, 2021, an exchange of teachers and students will take place within an Erasmus Plus Action.

Impairment in postural control is prevalent in patients with schizophrenia, and often limit occupational performance. Virtual reality (VR) has proven its benefits for improving postural control and among schizophrenia population. Remarkably, the effectiveness of a VR game-based intervention on postural control in this population has never been evaluated. The primary aim of this study is to examine the effects and impact of VR on postural control parameters in patients with schizophrenia. This is a single-blinded, randomised controlled trial with two parallel groups. Thirty-four patients with schizophrenia are randomly assigned to the virtual reality group (VR) or the inactive control group (CG). The intervention consists of 3 30 min sessions for 4 weeks. Assessments are performed at baseline, post-intervention and 1-month follow-up. The primary outcome is postural control. The center of pressure (COP) displacement and velocity in anteroposterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) directions are measured by PhyisoSensing pressure platform. This study protocol comprises parameters that are thought to be crucial to the success of the intervention. There are used objective and quantitative measures to evaluate the outcomes for effectively plan postural control interventions in schizophrenia with more reliable and valid results. The results of the study will be useful to clarify the effect of VR on postural control in patients with schizophrenia and provide insight into the validity of this approach as an intervention technique. It is expected that the results confirm the positive findings supporting the therapeutic prospects of VR.

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of QR (Quick Response) codes in teaching and learning. More specifically, the study explores the extent to which, the use of QR codes, embedded in the learners' class material, can improve their linguistic performance in English and enhance their interest and participation in their specialty lessons. For the purposes of the study, a number of 132 secondary vocational randomly selected school learners from four schools and eight classes, aged between 17-21 years, and four teachers took part in the research process. The study was implemented in five stages and had duration of three months. The research employed a mixed method using a quantitative and qualitative approach. Learners' linguistic level before and after the intervention was measured with the help of the balanced state KPG test for foreign languages, while four focus groups, one per class, were also implemented. According to the results, it can be argued that the integration of the QR codes in the teaching material and process enhances both receptive English language skills but mainly reading. What is more, it seems that VET (Vocational and Technical Education) students found the use of QR codes interesting, innovative and helpful for their studies.

This research explored the serendipitous learning of mathematics in a group of Further Education students, after mathematics elements were embedded into the lessons. Data was gathered from students studying a Computer Games Design course. The data was gathered using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings indicated that students' view of mathematics had changed to a more positive one in a positive direction and some students learned mathematics during this process. The data analysis showed has shown that stealth embedding mathematics within a games design unit helped to deal with barriers to engaging and learning mathematics.

The Moore's law rigorously fulfilled and in 2021 the CMOS technology seems to reach its ultimate limit. What's next? All specialists anticipate that a circuit from 2031 will not keep the same performances offered by the last 2.5 nm CMOS from 2021. Proposals are multiple, alternative nano-devices are well-known, nanoscale technologies open amazing future facilities. Herein, we propose a sound source separation method using multi-channel non-negative matrix factorization (MNMF). MNMF uses an iterative update algorithm for decomposing observed signals into sound source components. However, the separation accuracy of MNMF considerably depends on the initial value of the iterative update algorithm. In the proposed method, cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling were conducted using the features of the matrix decomposed by multiple initial values. A plurality of separated signals was obtained using the initial values included in the largest cluster, which were weighted and averaged. The distance between the matrices obtained by the multidimensional scaling method was used as the weight. As a result of the experiment, we found that the separation signal obtained using the proposed method is less dependent on the initial value and that the separation accuracy is improved.
