Reading comprehension and reading context are in mutual interaction and influenced by several factors, particularly the level of reading literacy and the level of individuals' reading strategies. Reading is part of communication applying the correct (de) coding of written information. An important factor in understanding the information is the set of knowledge and skills elements of a sociological, psychological, ethical and media nature. Language as a tool for the transmission of information and human thinking concurrently reflects the values of the individual and society. This study aims to characterise the level of reading strategies of secondary vocational school students in the Moravian-Silesian Region in connection with the findings of an international survey of reading literacy of 15-year-old students (PISA 2018), which pointed out that Czech students (especially boys) achieve a below-average level in analysed reading strategies. Fifteen-year-old pupils of the region are among the worst regional groups in the Czech Republic. The second goal of the research was to find out which factors influence the development of pupils' reading literacy, during and after working with the (e)text, reading comprehension and the effectiveness of reading comfort. An analysis of the responses of 488 students of three secondary schools of engineering showed that students who read for knowledge prefer a particular topic when reading and that students who ask questions while reading or after reading a text also look for new information to discover a context of information. Another important finding was that reading comfort and reading context are in mutual interaction. To develop an individual's language culture, it is significant to support reading not only as a part of school duties but as an integral part of everyday life.

UNESCO documents state that Action for Climate Empowerment is implemented through education which has a crucial role to play in climate change, building capacities and attitudes for climate change mitigation as well as stimulating and reinforcing understanding of, and attentiveness of climate change. A particular attention should be paid to engineering programmes as engineers contribute to building a sustainable society, present and future, use resources efficiently and effectively, seek multiple views to solve sustainability challenges and manage risk to minimise adverse impact on people or environment. In turn, mathematics is seen as an instrument for sustainable development. In the light of the above considerations the purpose of the study is to find out the ways how the United Nations SDGs are being pursued in engineering education, courses on sustainable development at different Baltic Network in Agrometrics universities and theoretical or specialty subject providing information about a sustainable approach to the environment. To implement Action for Climate Empowerment through education, the purpose of the study is to assess the ecological intelligence of emerging engineering professionals and to identify measures taken daily by students to reduce the impact of CO2 as well as to identify areas that should be given more attention in the intensive mathematics course to be developed by the universities of the Baltic Network in Agrometrics. Analysing students' personal contribution to emission reductions, they understand the harmful effects of CO2 emissions on the atmosphere, but not all of surveyed approve of their personal contribution to reducing them.

The aim of this study is to test the model of improving human resource performance through three main knowledge psychological work attitudes which are job satisfaction, procedural justice and organizational citizenship behavior. Data collected by distributing questionnaires to 60 respondents as employees in a manufacture company and analyzed by using path analysis. The result found that the three variables of knowledge psychological work attitudes which are procedural justice, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior are able to increase employee performance.

Distant education and online courses have recently become a part of a new reality, especially in the last four months as many institutes and universities all over the world had to shift most of their educational content online because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It appeared that some higher educational institutions and a certain part of their students were almost ready to go online as these institutions had been developing their online platforms thus integrating traditional face-to-face classes with computer-assisted learning as well as integrating massive open or shared online courses into their curricular. At the same time, many other universities and institutes proved to be absolutely unprepared to shift online as they and their students had neither their own educational environment and online resources developed by their teaching staff nor any experience of working in an external online environment and choosing courses appropriate for their educational purposes. It turned out that most existing online courses could not be successfully used for implementing into most universities curricula and for teaching a majority of technical students as they simply reproduced the traditional classroom learning process and missed all advantages and opportunities afforded by online learning environments. The authors objective for this research in progress is to identify the key features and describe structure, content and assessment specifics of an academical online course for technical students. This paper provides tips on how to organize the course content into a proper structure stressing what types of teaching materials could be uploaded to the educational platform and goes into its assessment specifics. In a long-term perspective the authors aim to design, develop and introduce a modern and progressive constructivist learning environment for teaching business English in technical universities.

Amblyopia or lazy eyes is a unilateral or bilateral Disorder and reduction of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) which affected approximately 3% of the world's population. To improve the visual deficits caused by Amblyopia, the traditional treatments have to be implemented before the termination of the critical visual development period which is within the age of 612 years. Despite traditional opinions that amblyopia treatment is only effective for children through treatment such as eye patching, video games could be highly engaging and improve vision and attention in the adult with amblyopia. In this study, after examining the factors influencing amblyopia treatment, we used different experimental approaches that have been used to enhance visual function in adults with amblyopia including video game play and dichotic training. A Contrast based game has been developed for clinical trials used for that purpose to enhance visual function in adults suffering from amblyopia. The therapeutic procedure at first includes a clinical visit for assessing the patient's visual related parameters and the second is using a proposed 3D video game and a game-set comprise a VR mobile-set and android device. This study represents that the proposed 3D video game might be useful as an effective treatment for amblyopia in adults.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, and it is defined as the persistent difficulty in maturing the socialization process. By applying different therapies, health professionals have made advances that promise to improve patients' conditions. Taking advantage of technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, improvements in therapies have been obtained. This article proposes creating a smart mirror to recognize five basic emotions: Angry, Fear, Sad, Happy, and neutral. The above is based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), which can support therapies performed by health professionals to children with ASD.

The blended model of foreign language instruction in professional higher education has increased rapidly and amounts of research studies have proved that it can enhance the quality of learning English for Specific Purposes (ESP). However, not much has been discovered on how the blended model affects learning outcomes in higher education, of medical staff in particular. Therefore, the main objective of this pilot study is to analyze and consider students' perception of blended model compared to the face-to-face course delivery, and their learning outcomes achievement. The research was conducted at the Tertiary school for medical staff in Olomouc, Czech Republic, within the ESP course. Totally, the research sample included 86 first year students of various medical study programmes. Both forms of instruction, face-to-face and blended model, were implemented for 16 weeks, i.e. one semester. Data were collected via two written didactic tests. Students' feedback on the blended learning mode was monitored by the questionnaire. They expressed higher motivation and appreciated traditional strengths, i.e. the possibility of individual pace and independence of study. They also demonstrated better learning outcomes in the test scores, despite no significant differences were discovered. However, the students with lower level of English performed slightly better in the group taught in the blended mode.

Mobile mediated learning is becoming more popular among small children with the advancement of technology. In early days learning process was completely teacher centric. Once the technology is coupled with learning processes, enhanced teaching-learning activities based on mobile or tablet can be presented even outside the classroom. This helps small children to get hands-on experience on various educational activities in learner-centered educational environment which allow them to become active learners. Hence, development of mobile learning systems which will be able to use both within the classroom environment as well as outside that would be more useful for deeper learning. Due to existing research, usability issues take prominence in today's mobile mediated applications that targeting small children. Small children put more effort on interactions rather than achieving intended objectives of the application. This leads to a reduction of performance of those applications. Hence, the proposed research aims to develop a framework which incorporates usability aspects with digital didactical design for mobile mediated learning in preprimary education. The framework would provide a set of guidelines for incorporating usability aspects with digital didactical design in mobile based learning applications.

Investigating efficiently the data collected from a system's activity can help to detect malicious attempts and better understand the context behind past incident occurrences. Nowadays, several solutions can be used to monitor system activities to detect probable abnormalities and malfunctions. However, most of these systems overwhelm their users with vast amounts of information, making it harder for them to perceive incident occurrences and their context. Our approach combines a dynamic and intuitive user interface with Machine Learning forecasts to provide an intelligent investigation tool that facilitates the security operator's work. Our system can also act as an enhanced and fully automated decision support mechanism that provides suggestions about possible incident occurrences.

In an interconnected world, the systems-of-systems (SoS) paradigm is prevalent in various domains, particularly in large-scale environments as being found in the area of critical infrastructures. Due to the characteristics of SoS and those of critical infrastructures, the realization of high level services for Operational Technology Monitoring (OTM), such as failure cause reasoning, is challenging, whereas interoperability and evolvability are most pressing. In this realm, the contribution of this paper is twofold: Firstly, we conduct a systematic literature review focusing on semantic technologies in areas like (i) semantic annotations, (ii) event log focused work in the IoT, (iii) organizational process mining, and (iv) complex event processing. Based thereupon, we elaborate towards a hybrid (semi)-automatic ontology population approach in the context of OTM by combining inductive and deductive methods.
