The fabrication of human tissue-mimicking phantoms and the relative dielectric characterization within the 0.5-5 GHz frequency range is presented in this work. The phantoms are realized with easily available ingredients, while their permittivity behavior is validated through comparison with Cole-Cole reference models. The resulting phantoms are solid, thus electrically and mechanically stable over time, and suitable for the simulation of layered mediums. The provided preparation process is intended for repeatability and it represents a preliminary step to a series of applications, ranging from realization of realistic phantoms for microwave imaging scope, as well as experimental validation of wearable devices for off-body communication and bio-signals sensing. Specifically, the performance of a designed wearable antenna for blood-glucose monitoring is evaluated by considering a stratified tissue medium, including the dielectric properties of the realized phantoms.

As soon as they became aware of online search innovations, technologists began to design and develop tools to help users better understand this new search mode connected to massive data in constant evolution. To achieve the goal of online search, it is crucial to create a reliable environment where learners can find the information they are looking for and use it in a simpler way. In this context, we propose to design a Big Data tool that would support users in their search for information. Our main goal in this article is to provide an intelligent architecture that allows to process massive and unstructured data to provide the best result for the learner. For our study, we proposed conducting a sample survey of future system criteria that concerns the performance and the quality when using online search, through the submission of questionnaires for a set of students who represent future users of our online search platform. We have exposed the different factors that may impact the learner when using online search system, as well as the criteria for simplicity and usability of our future solution.

The paper is devoted to the study on how the reading format (on a computer screen and on paper) affects the effectiveness of tasks solved by students - future engineers of the IT sector. A research was held to study the impact of the reading format on composing concept maps following reading texts on paper or on computer screen. The results showed advantages in completing assignments when reading on paper.

The Sharing Economy is the basis for challenging existing business models and the creation of new cooperation's. The BMBF-funded project Open Digital Lab 4 You (DigiLab4U) promotes the sharing of laboratory (lab) infrastructures for Internet of Things (IoT)/Industry 4.0 (I4.0) related education. Through the digitalisation in education and research, new forms of cross-location networking of lab infrastructures arise. The paper illustrates innovation options for IoT/14.0 lab infrastructure, exemplary based on a RFID measuring chamber using (I) a Virtual Reality (VR) Mockup, (II) a Service Robot Arm and (III) VR with live data as combination of (I) + (II), to realise cross-location networking. Related IoT-/14.0-competences within lab education are raised and applied to the curriculum for educating undergraduate engineering. A matrix containing a competence evaluation system for digital labs is provided. Considerations for the evaluation of labs are presented to allow the classification of labs as well as to provide a quick orientation for users with regard to the learning objectives to be achieved. Researchers and participants of digital labs are invited to explore the use of clustering lab experiences according to the introduced method. Clustering real, remote and virtual labs in this way can help to find out which learning outcomes can be achieved in specific labs.

Padding is a process used for the border treatment of data before the convolution operation in Convolutional Neural Networks. This study proposes a new type of padding designated by roll padding, which is conceived for multivariate time series analysis when using convolutional layers. The Human Activity Recognition raw time distributed dataset is used to train, test and compare four Deep Learning architectures: Long Short-Term Memory, Convolutional Neural Networks with and without roll padding, and WaveNet with roll padding. Two main findings are obtained: on the one hand, the inclusion of roll padding improves the accuracy of the basic standard Convolutional Neural Network and, on the other hand, WaveNet extended with roll padding provides the best performance result.

The problem in this study is the inaccuracy of nurses' performance at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the influence of organizational communication and organizational learning on the performance of human resources by sharing knowledge as an intervening variable. The population of this study used 100 nurses as samples who used the Purposive Random Sampling technique assisted by SPSS 16.0 software. Research ratio data obtained from questionnaires and interviews. The results of this study are organizational communication and organizational learning have a positive and significant effect on knowledge sharing. Organizational communication and organizational learning have a positive and significant influence on the performance of human resources. Knowledge sharing is not able to be an intervening variable between organizational communication and nurse performance. However, Knowledge Sharing is able to be an intervening variable between organizational learning and nurse performance.

This paper proposes a way of using Augmented Reality to help students accomplish remote laboratory experiments and check their engagement while their activities are carried on. For this end, we used Experience API (xAPI) to track student's performances. First, students should access a remote laboratory. In this case, the Remote Microscope Experiment was accessed through a computer on RExLab's website and a smartphone was used to interact with augmented elements inserted in a specific context. The users' interactions with the elements inserted through the Augmania (TM) platform are withheld through xAPI and shown in the Learning Record Store of this same application. This made possible to acquire and analyze the students' performance and engagement through data visualization dashboards and charts. RExLab (Remote Experimentation Laboratory) is physically located at Ararangua, Brasil.

Robotics with state-of-the-art microcontrollers leads to plenty of unique opportunities for computer science education at school. This paper introduces an ESP32 extension to Ardublockly specifically designed for educational purposes. It discusses the advantages of blockbased programming for school education and presents the new key features within the IDE. To demonstrate the capabilities of the developed extension for computer science education in schools, an exercise in the field of swarm robotics was developed.

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) face several technical challenges in deployment and management due to poor scalability, flexibility, connectivity and lack of intelligence. The integration of Cloud, Fog and Edge computing in VANETs together with the use of Software Defined Networking (SDN) are seen as a way to cope with these communication challenges. In this work, we propose a fuzzy-based system for coordination and management of the cloud-fog-edge resources in SDN-VANETs. The proposed system called Fuzzy-based System for Resource Management (FSRM) decides the appropriate resources to be used by a vehicle in a cloud-fog-edge layered architecture. If a task requires computing resources that are beyond of those of the vehicle, based on the decision of FSRM, the vehicle can use the resources of its neighbors, fog or cloud servers. The decision is made by considering the task requirements in terms of latency constrains and complexity, and the available connections of the vehicle. We demonstrate by simulations the feasibility of FSRM to improve the management of the network resources.

Online scams, unsolicited advertisements, messages containing malicious files and other forms of spam continue to be a nuisance in today's internet, wasting users' time and causing financial damage to companies and organizations. There have been many proposals on how spam should be stopped, from various kinds of spam filters to legislative measures. One of the more extreme suggestions is fighting back by bombarding spammers' servers with a deluge of HTTP requests. In the current study, we revisit this idea "filters that fight back" originally proposed by Graham in 2003, and investigate why the approach has received little attention recently. We also showcase an example solution that automatically sends false information back to spammers by filling forms on their websites or replying to mail addresses they have provided. We offer a conceptualization and future agenda of filters that fight back, and discuss the ethical and technical challenges related to this solution.
