When a robot has to interact with a person in a dynamic environment, it has to navigate to reach a close distance and to be in front of the person. This navigation has to be smooth and take care of the person's movements, the static obstacles and the motion of other people. In this paper, we present a new method to approach a person, that combines G(2)-Splines (G(2)S) paths with the Extended Social Force Model (ESFM) to allow the robot to move in dynamic environments avoiding static obstacles and other people. Moreover, we use the Bayesian human motion intentionally prediction (BMP) in combination with the Social Force Model (SFM) to be able to approach a moving person and also to avoid moving people in the environment. The method computes several paths using the G(2)S and taking into account the person's position and orientation. Then, the method selects the best path using several costs that consider distance, orientation, and interaction forces with static obstacles and moving people. Finally, the robot is controlled with the ESFM to follow the best path. The method was validated by a set of simulations and also by real-life experiments with a humanoid robot in a dynamic environment.

The paper reports an improvement of an unsupervised classification system for learner peculiarities of flat finishing motion of an iron file in skill training. The system classifies and visualizes peculiarities of learners' tool motion effectively by using a torus type Self-Organizing Maps (SOM). An automatic clustering based on codebook density of SOM helps skill trainers to grasp learners' peculiarities distribution easily. In this paper, we focus on the classification improvement of the SOM on the viewpoint of the clustering. Classification performance is improved by comparing different learning schedules of the SOM. Effectiveness of the improvement is evaluated with measured data of an expert and sixteen learners.

Contexts as diverse as control rooms, driving and picking in logistic systems provide the backdrop to the potential of attention guiding to improve human performance. Due to recent technological progress in the field of head-mounted displays for augmented reality, attention guiding in mobile and context-sensitive situations has become widely applicable. Accordingly, the gap in existent literature concerning design, development and in particular evaluation and comparison of attention guiding techniques is surprising. Our literature reviewed showed that most studies were conducted within specific use cases and accordingly were using a specific technique. In order to start building knowledge on the comparison of techniques, we review the literature and run a focus group. From both, we derive pointers for the design and development of a universal testing environment to evaluate attention guiding techniques. We build a prototype with selected evaluation methods and test both the environment and two combined attention guiding techniques.

Patients who lack upper and lower extremities have difficulties in carrying out their daily activities. The new technological advances have allowed the development of robotic applications to support people with disabilities, also, portable electroencephalographic (EEG) sensors are increasingly accessible and allow the development of new proposals which involve the mental control of electronic systems. This work presents the control by mental orders of an arm-hand prosthesis using low-cost devices, the objective is to command the arm using the user's attention and blinking, where the components are a brain signal sensor, a prosthesis, an Arduino board, six servomotors, and a computer. The developed program in Matlab allows controlling the arm by means of an attention level y blinking. The results show the functioning of the system through experimental tests and a usability test is applied, finally, the conclusions establish adequate coordination in the movements of the prosthesis and the patient indicate satisfaction with the proposal.

This paper proposes the application and implementation of the lean thinking methodology at a company dedicated to selling vehicles, spare parts, and post-sales services. For these purposes, tools such as process maps, flowcharts, indicators, system layout planning tools, and 5S implementation are used, supported by training sessions for process participants. As a result, customer complaints were reduced by 0.13% per month, and the number of work orders handled by the site increased by 0.38% per month. Moreover, a 0.32% increase in man/hour productivity was reported, leading to a 44.32% decrease in Duster vehicle delivery times.

The game engines are one of the essential and daily used applications on game development. These applications are designed to assist in the creation of games' contents. However, the games definition and specification is still complex. The mechanisms involved in the behaviour definition are not easy to standardise, given their dependency with the subjective game logic design and the selected programming language features. In this sense, this work presents the design and development of a game logic system for 2D video games. It draws from the study and analysis of the behaviour and game logic definition literature. From this, a game logic system has been developed from a first-order logic semantics and a reduced set of actions and conditions. The model has been tested with several games to determine its potential. Finally, one of these games is described with the proposed semantics, and further on it is also used as a reference for a user test against other game logic systems.
