Smart city environments follow different technological management strategies (such as resource management, data management, and so on) between end-users to city planners and technological devices (e.g., sensor, camera surveillance, etc.) to enhance citizens' quality of life through the variety of the smart services. Data management is one of the most critical issues in smart cities because data is a core resource in the smart city. Without proper data, no smart services in the smart cities exist to make a connection between end-users and technological devices. A few numbers of distributed-to-centralize data management architectures have been proposed. In addition, there are several different distributed schema by several technological options exist (e.g., cloudlet, fog, etc.) but almost all of the studies used a distributed-to-centralized data management architecture based on fog to cloud technologies. Therefore, the fogto-cloud data management architecture can use both potentials of fog and cloud technologies, including the decrease in communication latencies, organizing distinct policies (e.g., data filtering, data compression, etc.) and so on. In this paper, first, previous studies of distributed-to-centralized data management architectures through two different smart city scenarios have been revisited. Afterward, the easy use and adaptation of the distributed-to-centralized data management architecture to any smart city scenario has been shown. In addition, the advantages of this data management architecture have been highlighted including efficiency rates for the data collection and data storage, and reducing data and network traffic. Finally, a number of the lesson learned from previous case studies has been addressed.

Through this paper, we aim at investigating the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on cultural heritage promotion and long-term preservation in terms of digitization effectiveness, attractiveness of the assets, and value empowering. Digital tools have been validated to yield sustainable and yet effective preservation for multiple types of content. For cultural data, however, there are multiple challenges in order to achieve sustainable preservation using these digital tools due to the specificities and the high-quality requirements imposed by cultural institutions. With the rise of machine learning and data science technologies, many researchers and heritage organizations are nowadays searching for techniques and methods to value and increase the reliability of cultural heritage digitization through machine learning. The present study investigates some of these initiatives highlighting their added value and potential future improvements. We mostly cover the aspects related to our context which is the long-term cost-effective digital preservation of the Qatari cultural heritage through the CEPROQHA project.

Nowadays, dealing with big data is a major challenge for application developers and researchers in several domains like storage, processing, indexing, integration, governance and semantic search. For decision-making and analysis purpose, semantic retrieval of information from big data is gaining more attention with the need of extracting accurate, meaningful and relevant results. Several semantic information retrieval techniques alternatively have been developed by researchers for retrieval of valuable information in big data environment. This article classifies literature and presents an analysis of five recent semantic information retrieval systems in terms of their methodologies, strengths and limitations. In addition, we evaluate these schemes on the basis of specific datasets and performance measures such as precision, recall and f-measure metrics. A comparative analysis of performance measures shows that IBRI-CASONTO achieves best f-measure value of 97.6 over other information retrieval systems.

Synthesizing three-dimensional objects from single or multiple two-dimensional views has been a challenging task. To combat this, several techniques involving Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTMs), and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) have been proposed. Since its advent in 2014, there has been a tremendous amount of research done in the area of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). Among the various applications of GANs, image synthesis has shown great potential due to the power of two deep neural networks-generator and discriminator, trained in a competitive way, which are able to produce reasonably realistic images. Formulation of 3D-GANs-which are able to generate three-dimensional objects from multiple two-dimensional views with impressive accuracy-has emerged as a promising solution to the aforementioned issue. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of deep learning methods used in generating three-dimensional objects, reviews the different models and frameworks for three-dimensional object generation, and discusses some evaluation metrics and future research direction in using GANs as an alternative for simultaneous localization and environment mapping as well as leveraging the power of GANs to revolutionize the field of education and medicine.

The aim of the work was a characteristic of anisotropic mechanical properties of a pig's aorta. The isolated ascending, descending and thoracic aortas were taken. The longitudinal and transversal orientations of specimens taken were considered. Tissue strips were cut in the longitudinal orientation and in the transversal orientation as rings. Part of the rings was cut and indicated as the transversal strip samples, the second part in the form of rings was indicated as the transversal ring samples. The prepared samples were tested in an uniaxial tensile test. The values of the maximal force, the elongation, the ultimate tensile strength and strain at the UTS, Young's moduli and energy of destruction were estimated. The influence of orientation of samples taking was estimated. The highest values of the maximal force and the UTS were determined for the transversal ring samples and the lowest for the longitudinal strip samples.

Modern societies are very rapidly changing in the context of complex and dynamic technological, economic and cultural environments. Admittedly, the latter environment is very vague and much less understood in terms of formal modelling of underlying processes. Evidently, in the era of globalization and radicalization, there is an urgent need to have some applicable models to simulate and foresee how particular cultural activities form social cohesion, dispersion, clusterization or radicalization in social groups or society in general. In this regard, presented multidisciplinary research paper is focused on modelling and simulation of stylized cultural events impact to social capital dynamics and distribution. Presented agent-based simulation approach rests upon conceptual model, which employs CIDOC-CRM methodology. OECD scheme is used to estimate social capital metrics - personal relationships, social network support, civic engagement, trust and cooperative norms. Agent-based simulation model is described using ODD standardized protocol. NetLogo MAS platform is used as a simulation environment. Obtained simulation results start from a well-known Axelrod agent-based physical neighbourhood interaction model, which we, following modern empirical observations, expanded for (i) the long-range interaction approach (broadcasted cultural events) and (ii) neighbourhood interaction in the social capital dimensions. Simulation results reveal some basic conditions under which cohesion, clustering or radicalization behavioural patterns can emerge in the simulated society.

The present research presents an improved recruitment and training model focused on increasing physician reputation and loyalty to retain good physicians in the provinces of Peru and thereby increase competitiveness and profitability of the health care organization. Consequently, a pilot test of the model was implemented in an assisted reproductive technology (ART) clinic based in Chiclayo and Piura using a recruitment process checklist. The data resulted after the implementation were analyzed using the success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments of the new physician and a structured engagement survey to determine retention by validation. In the new recruitment model, the new physician achieved a success rate of 46.15% in IVF pregnancies. The main physician participation was reduced from 69% to 48% without a decrease in total sales. The level of engagement achieved by the new physician was 96%, surpassing the average of the clinic's medical team of 79%.

Combinations of account identifier (e.g., username) and key phrase (i.e., password) are among the most utilized form of credentials for several types of authentication purposes, such as, user verification, connection to public and private networks, and access to digital resources. Typically, usernames are considered a method of account or user identification, whereas passwords are regarded as the crucial component that protects from attackers and prevents breaches. As a result, the level of security of a set of digital credentials is primarily associated with the strength of the key phase, and most of the attention focused on promoting initiatives for increasing password security. Unfortunately, account identifiers received less consideration. Consequently, users are aware of how to enforce the security of their password, though they might prefer more convenient options. Contrarily, several bad practices are caused by overlooking usernames as the first line of defense. In this paper, we highlight the increasing importance of account names and we overview the main username practices that impact account security. Furthermore, we present the results of a study that evaluated how human factors and individuals' awareness impact username security.

Preliminary evidence from a larger study is presented demonstrating that non-image-forming retinal processing takes place even through closed eyelids. The Z-bell(SM) test, which has been in clinical use for more than twenty years shows that these processing channels affect how we perceive context in the space around us when forming visual imagery. By using therapeutic eyeglasses and pitched bells, we can measure changes in a subject's spatial processing, and remediate deficiencies among non-image-forming neural channels that operate in even the low-light conditions produced by closed eyelids. Using what we know of both the top-down feedback filtering of retinal input triggered purely by aural signals and also the characteristic difficulties that brain-injured patients have in organizing visual scenes (which the Z-bell(SM) test links to difficulties with non-image-forming retinal processing), it is argued that the non-image-forming retinal channels demonstrated in this study may be critical in any human-centric model of computer vision. Spatial coding as a basis for human cognition is also briefly discussed.
