In many engineering and biological applications, the data sets such as wave direction, orientations of animal are circular. This type of data refers as circular data and cannot be analyzed using linear statistical methods. The most common distributions for analyzing circular data are the von Mises (vM) and wrapped Cauchy (wC) distributions. In the present chapter, we consider a two-component circular mixture model of the vM and wC distributions. In order to obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the parameters of the circularmixture model, we consider four optimization methods as the Newton-Raphson, Nelder-Mead, simulated annealing and the proposed genetic algorithm (GA). Here, GAs are a class of evolutionary algorithms and based on the principles of biological systems. The search space in GA addresses for the circular mixture model. To compare the performance of four optimization methods, we present the simulation study and phase data examples. The results indicate that the proposed GA seems to perform well in terms of parameter estimations as seen in simulated and phase data examples.

The arrival of the IoT has benefited multiple industrial sectors;one of them is the electrical industry. It makes the IoT an attractive platform for the smart grid, because it improves the monitoring, analysis, availability, autonomy, and control of grid systems, from distribution to transmission. In this work, it is proposed the Electrical Internet of Things - EIoT, a platform for the data management in electrical systems. The EIoT platform relies on the LPWAN technologies to connect electrical things geographically distributed. This approach attempts to cover Fire Protection systems in Substations, Control and Monitoring for the Demand Management, Electrical Asset Management, and intelligent Power Management and Monitoring in Refrigerators applications, but other smart grid applications fit as well. The EIoT platform implemented LoRa, a LPWAN technology, and its LoRaWAN protocol to connect electrical elements remotely in a first stage. The prototyping phase of the EIoT platform was developed using Mbed-enabled LoRa nodes coupled to electrical elements with the corresponding instrumentation, a LoRaWAN network, and a custom application server;then, all the components of an IoT network were considered. Some results of the implementation are presented, which demonstrate the suitability of the EIoT platform to address several applications of the electrical industry. The results also expose promising opportunities to deal with data processing and analytics, integrate more IoT protocols, and consolidate a complete IoT ecosystem in the electrical industry and the smart grids in further researches.

A case study of Szczecin Metropolitan Railway Infrastructure Space is an opportunity to discuss concepts of Transit Oriented Development and ideas of urban mobility. The model of nested infrastructure system was presented, where adaptive Regenerative Infrastructure, characterized as a whole living systems support, plays a crucial role in new forms of glocal community building and a networked mobility ecosystem creation. Only "grey", technical infrastructure modernization is not enough to support Regenerative Development and to enhance the city resilience. Emergent, hybrid infrastructure and the concept of "urban glocal village" ad hoc implementation will contribute to social, ecological and economic activities revival of local communities and culture of glocalization spread. Therefore the joint development program should be implemented to integrate elements of techno sphere with natural ecosystems constituents, taking responsibility for our present and future society of biosphere.

The provision of chemical, biological, radiation, and fire safety for people, property, infrastructure facilities, and natural environment is the focus of attention of the UN specialized agencies, national governments, managers, and specialists of industrial complexes that manufacture and operate hazardous facilities. According to the analysis, during transportation of dangerous goods by all modes of transport does not ensure an adequate level of risk, as a result of which abnormal situations, various breakdowns, incidents, and emergencies continue to occur. The manifestation of risk causes considerable damage to the transport workers, transportation infrastructure, transported goods and freight units, natural environment, residents of neighboring communities, and people who happened to be in a dangerous zone. The topicality of research is dictated by the necessity of further improving the methods for protection and damage prevention, reduction in social and economic costs and environmental damage. The purpose of research is to develop elements of an integrated security system for zone of dangerous goods by federal railway transport with the possibility to employ them on international scale and in other modes of transport. Improving the concept of dangerous zone during transportation of dangerous goods stands in as the first-priority work stage of the development process. Solving the main tasks of the research was based on such proven and fruitful theoretical and experimental methods as computer modeling, comparative typology and circular expert estimations, statistical analysis, probability theory, theory of similarity, and others. The most meaningful results of the development are both of theoretical and practical importance. The theoretical result consists in development of a new approach to the concept of dangerous zone during transportation of dangerous goods by rail. In today's competitive environment, the role of innovation is getting more popularity in organizations. Innovation and Supply chain management (SCM) play very important role for getting a competitive position in global environment. The study aims to investigate the impact of SCM practices on organizational performance through the moderating role of role of innovation culture. Data for investigation were collected through field survey from Pakistani textile industries and total response rate was 86% (236/275). Current study employed the SmartPLS Analysis technique for data analysis. The results showed that SCM practices have significant impact on organization performance. However, the moderator makes the relationship stronger among SSP, CR, LIS, LIQ, ILP and organizational performance. While the innovation culture significantly moderates the relationship between SCM Practices and organization performance. In the era of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) the findings of current study provide insights into Mangers regarding how to improve the SCM projects for getting more benefits from ongoing projects. Further research can formulate additional measurements for practices of internal supply chain like quality management, supply integration and competitive advantage as a moderator.

The analysis of the sediment C-14 dating, grain sizes, sporopollen and micropaleontology in the BZK01 borehole in the Yangtze River Delta Plain was carried out. The sporopollen assemblages, the sedimentary environment evolution, the sedimentary facies and the paleoclimate characteristics revealed by the borehole since the Pliocene were discussed in combination with the gamma logging and the lithologic stratigraphy, and the quaternary multiple stratigraphic division of the borehole was established. The results show that the study area has undergone many environmental changes since Pliocene due to the influence of the primitive topography, the sea level changes, the land-sea changes, the paleoclimate changes and the Neotectonic movement. From bottom to top, the drilling holes reveal that the lithology and the strata are bedrock Changhe Formation, the Neogene-Quaternary sedimentary Jiaxing Formation, the Qiangang Formation, the Dongpu Formation, the Ningbo Formation and the Zhenhai Formation in turn. The sporopollen assemblage can be divided into 16 sporopollen belts. According to the periodic variation of the paleoclimate cycle during the warm, the humid and the cold and the dry periods, BZK01 drilling reflects that in the total area there are seven paleoclimatic cycles. The multi-stratigraphic division and correlation of the boreholes revealed that 151.9-278.0 m is the Pliocene-Early Pleistocene period of the alternating fluvial and lacustrine deposits, and there are two climatic cycles;83.5-151.9 m is the Middle Pleistocene of the fluvial-lacustrine-shallow lacustrine depositional environment, which includes two climatic cycles. 15.4-83.5 m is the Late Pleistocene and sinks. From bottom to top, the sedimentary environment is the estuarine-fluvial-tidal-flat-littoral-fluvial facies, corresponding to Wangdian-Hangzhou transgression period, including two climatic cycles. 0-15.4 m is Holocene of the estuarine-fluvial-lagoon facies sedimentary environment, corresponding

In distribution systems, more number of power quality problems are there;out of them, harmonics plays major role;these are caused by the nonlinear devices used in the distribution network. In distribution systems, it is around 75% problems which are caused due to especially harmonics. Harmonics exists due to nonlinear devices used in distribution system. These harmonics are compensated by a distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM). By using this injection or absorption of reactive power, voltage and current fluctuations, harmonics elimination can achieve. It is shunt connected device by using this, shunt current compensation can be performed. In this paper detailed explanation about DSTATCOM and the amount of injected current at source side, total harmonic distortion in injected currents are explain with total harmonic distortion values by using prosperous control technique of DSTATCOM is compared with conventional PI controller. Simulation results are obtained by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

Early school leaving is one of the most frequently mentioned reasons to social exclusion later in life. In order to reduce the risk of early school leaving, it is necessary to automate the process of entering unjustified lessons' delays in school management system. A person's re-identifying (Re-ID) is a complex automated process, where most studies use an approach to analyze the descriptors of clothing and appearance that are intended for the use of short-period Re-ID. In contrast, there is not much research in the real-time long-term Re-ID process, when images or videos are taken at intervals of several days or months in an uncontrolled environment. In this case descriptors characterizing a person's biometric identity based on unique features, such as a facial digital image, are required. The objective of this research is to develop a real-time person's long-term re-identification approach for accounting of non-attended lessons in educational institutions. The proposed Re-ID mechanism includes face identification and new method of using multiple face etalon versions and multiple versions of descriptors for a single person. This allows Re-ID of a person in different clothing and appearance from different camera angles in a long term.

Feature relevance is often investigated in classification problems to determine the contribution of each feature, especially when a dataset comprises of numerous features. Feature selection or variable selection aids in creating an accurate predictive model because fewer attributes tend to reduce computational complexity, thereby promising better performance. Machine learning, a preferred approach to intrusion detection, manifests on the appropriate usage of features to improve attack detection rate. A new benchmark dataset, UNSW NB-15, has been used in the study which comprises of five classes of features. This work attempts to demonstrate the relevance of each feature class along with the importance of various combinations of feature classes. During the course of this analysis, 31 possible combinations of features were taken into consideration and their relevance was examined. Empirical results pertaining to feature reduction have shown that an accuracy of 97% could be obtained by using only 23 features. The entire sequence of experimentation was conducted on Microsoft Azure machine learning studio (MAMLS), a scalable machine learning platform. Two-class neural network was used to perform the classification task. Since UNSW NB-15 is a contemporary dataset with modern attack vectors, the research community is still in the process of exploring various facets of this dataset. This article thus intends to offer valuable insights on the significance of features found in UNSW NB-15 dataset.

This paper presents an advanced method of graphical data protection. The novelty of the proposed method consists in the use of bits correspondence scheme, Huffman tree, and specific data encoding based on variable length of color hue code. The steganographic stability evaluation of the proposed method is presented and discussed in the paper. The application of the method to the technology of archive medical image processing is discussed as well.
