This research aimed to examine and analyze the impact of factors affecting tax compliance of individual taxpayers. The populations in this research were individual taxpayers who are registered in KPP (taxpayer office) Pratama, Semarang. The results of this study showed that tax knowledge has a positive effect on tax willingness. Meanwhile tax transparency, trust in government system and law have no effect on tax willingness. Tax knowledge, tax transparency, trust in government and legal systems have no effect on tax compliance. Tax willingness has a positive effect on tax compliance.

Failure anticipation is one of the key industrial research objectives with the advent of Industry 4.0. This paper presents an approach to predict high importance errors using log data emitted by machine tools. It uses the concept of bag to summarize events provided by remote machines, available within log files. The idea of bag is inspired by the Multiple Instance Learning paradigm. However, our proposal follows a different strategy to label bags, that we wanted as simple as possible. Three main setting parameters are defined to build the training set allowing the model to fine-tune the trade-off between early warning, historic informativeness and forecast accuracy. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated using a real industrial application where critical errors can be predicted up to seven days in advance thanks to a classification model.

The paper discusses various methods for the Educational Data Mining (EDM), including curricula, based on interdisciplinary teaching. Their advantages and disadvantages are being discussed. The problem of interdisciplinary teaching in engineering and pedagogical education has its own specifics, which is due to the fact that, in essence, this education is complex interdisciplinary, and the training of future teachers of vocational institutions has been implemented at the border of pedagogical and engineering sciences. The authors propose a method for optimizing the curricula of engineering and pedagogical specialties based on the algorithm of phased construction model for structuring interdisciplinary relations. This method is based on the graph theory. The result of the method has been presented as a graph of interdisciplinary relations in tierparallel form. The construction of the graph and solving the problem of interdisciplinary integration has been implemented using software developed by the authors, the description of which is given in the paper. The paper also discusses the results of optimization.

Relational databases are getting bigger and more complex. Also, current Database Management systems (DBMSs) need to respond efficiently to operations on their data. In this context, database optimization is evident as a process of refining database systems, aiming to improve their throughput and performance. This paper evaluates and compares the performance of Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems with the TPC-H benchmark, following a strategy of adding column-based indexes to optimize query execution. Ten TPC-H queries are performed on tables without any restrictions, with primary and foreign keys and with index constraints. The performance in each set of executions is analyzed. The results allow inferring a positive impact when using constraints with a significant speedup as well as better throughput. Oracle has shown stability and robustness for queries, with best results in scenarios with poor performance conditions. However, PostgreSQL showed shorter execution times after the optimizations made and proved to be more sensitive. Global performance results show that Oracle can improve 7% performance with indexes and PostgreSQL 91%. When comparing the results of Oracle with PostgreSQL, no indexes, Oracle/PostgreSQL is 64% faster, and with indexes, PostgreSQL/Oracle is 75% faster.

Currently, communication in a foreign language is considered one of eight key competences. Within higher education, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Special Purposes (ESP) mostly play this role. Despite the fact that smart devices are widely spread among young population and often work as a strong motivator to learning, problems may occur when the process of instruction is enhanced by smart didactic means. Logically, the question appears whether the smart instruction suits learners of all motivation types, i.e. whether they all are able to successfully acquire the learning content. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to find out whether smart instruction of EAP and ESP can be applied on learners of all motivation types. Two hypotheses were set and the quasi-experiment and ex-post-facto method were applied. Learners' motivation types were detected via the standardized Motivation Type Inventory (MTI) by Plaminek which distinguishes learners of four types: Directors, Coordinators, Explorers, Accurators. Didactic tests were exploited to monitor learners' entrance and final knowledge. The test scores were statistically processed and results considered from the view of motivation types - significant differences were not detected between motivation types. The results prove that smart instruction is entitled to be exploited in EAP and ESP as it suits learners of all motivation types.

Exponential growth of innovations and the penetration of information technology into all spheres of life are actively increasing the demand for IT sector engineers and competences of graduates from university IT-courses. Key educational innovations in ICT include open educational resources (OER). It is important for IT sector engineers to master the skills of working with OER, which are a powerful tool for increasing learning possibilities and further education and training. However, little attention has been paid to using OER in faceto-face university courses. The paper presents the findings form a research that was aimed at using OER in one-semester Psychology and Pedagogy course by undergraduate full-time students in Computer Science and Computer Engineering and System Analysis and Management at Kazan National Research Technological University.

The EOLES (Electronics and Optics e-Learning for Embedded systems) course consists of a 3rd year Bachelor degree that relies exclusively on e-learning and remote laboratories, developed as the result of an EU funded ERASMUS+ project, involving 15 institutions from four European and three North African countries and concluded in 2015. This paper presents an overview and overall results for this initial period and a more detailed analysis of the Digital systems Teaching Unit contents, pedagogical approach, grading methodology and results. The focus is on the unit specific characteristics and features, student and teacher experiences and the methodologies that were applied to enhance learning success. The Teaching Unit expositive material is provided as the student progresses, with progressive unlocking of content depending timeline and automatic quizzes results. Grading is divided between weekly assignments, an online exam at the end of each TU and a final exam at the end of the academic year. In short, students are allowed and encouraged to adjust their learning rhythm within the limits allowed by time restraints and evaluation criteria. The developed course was accredited as a specialization year in most partner institutions and has been running non-stop since then, mainly with students from North African institutions. Although no longer supported by an EU project, the course is a good example of sustainability as it already had 4 effective editions with successful approval rates and always with many more candidates than available vacancies.

The paper proposes an active-learning strategy aimed to increase class engagement and enhance student learning through the use of a Classroom Response System (CRS). A list of the commercially available CRS is reviewed. The motivation for designing an in-house CRS that addresses the limitations of the commercial CRS and solves specific needs of several automotive engineering courses is provided. The design and development of a mobile-based CRS at McMaster University in the School of Engineering Practice and Technology (SEPT) is presented. The CRS includes several modules that deal with the instructor and student interfaces, and with the infrastructure needed for a client-server application. The modules of developed CRS are described in detail. The paper presents the challenges that had to be mitigated during the development of the web-based applications and during its integration with the university's Learning Management System. The benefits compared with commercial CRS justify the efforts to develop an in-house mobile web-based CRS software package.

In this paper we show how we can utilize human-guided machine learning techniques coupled with a learning science practitioner interface (DataShop) to identify potential improvements to existing educational technology. Specifically, we provide an interface for the classification of underlying Knowledge Components (KCs) to better model student learning. The configurable interface allows users to quickly and accurately identify areas of improvement based on the analysis of learning curves. We present two cases where the interface and accompanying methods have been applied in the domains of geometry and psychology to improve upon existing student models. Both cases present outcomes of better models that more closely model student learning. We reflect on how to iterate upon the educational technology used for the respective courses based on these better models and further opportunities for utilizing the system to other domains, such as computing principles.

The paper discusses the implementation of a research project funded by the Russian Science and Higher Education Ministry during which 20 blended faculty continuing education programs were designed and delivered at IDPO KNITU in November - December 2019. Two surveys of faculty members were conducted within 15 months, the first in October 2018 and the second in March 2020. The paper focuses on the impact that participation of the faculty in the IDPO KNITU project has had on instructors' assessment of factors that impede and motivate participation in online learning as well as their assumptions about the conditions for effective online delivery and its best practices.
