Multiplane estimation from three-dimensional (3D) point clouds is a necessary step in the negative obstacle detection. In recent years, different Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) based methods have been proposed for this purpose. In this paper, we propose a multi-stage algorithm based on RANSAC plane estimation and KMeans clustering, and apply it to the negative stairs detection. This method contains two steps: first, it clusters the point clouds and downsamples them;second, it estimates the planes by iteratively using RANSAC algorithm with the downsampled data. Finally, according to the relationship between regions to determine whether there is an obstacle in front of the autonomous vehicle. Our experimental results show that this method has satisfactory performance.

This study proposes a methodology to support the decision making to improve the efficiency of the technological standard in the sanitary industry facilities considering the climate change effects. Nowadays, the population necessities in terms of environment, quality and continuity of service are constantly increasing. In this regard, the sanitary industry is adopting new technologies for its processes, with the purpose that be a factor for service improvement. At present time, the Chilean sanitary industry is concern about the degree of automation and the infrastructure requirements, since they are the main critical factors for future investment planning. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the current level of the telecontrol system facilities and generate actions to make improvements in those processes that show a poor quality of service. The research methodology is based on case study, integrating planning processes, data analysis, scoring method interactingwith multicriteria approach. This paper emphasis on developing a decision model by the use of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), to identify the priority facilities that should improve their technological standard. A case study incorporating climate change factors is pursued in a metropolitan sanitary company in Chile, accomplishing the automation degree of a telecontrol system for the real case. These results give place to elaborate an investment plan that can be converted into action plans for a sanitary company.

The continual research of electronic embedded system platforms for teaching and learning is of paramount importance. This is to increase the impact on a universities' ability to lead in technological advancement with goals to enhance innovation and accelerate the concept-to-deployment process. Technological progress in the fields of electronics, wireless communication, cognitive computing, and robotics has caused almost everything which connects to electricity to have a small processor and sensor embedded with itself [1]. Cognitive or intelligent embedded systems are the 'core' of trends such as: reduced energy consumption, deep learning applications, improved security for embedded devices, cloud connectivity and mesh networking, and visualization tools with real time data. This paper is aimed at stimulating design and innovation in electronics education through the rapid prototyping of configurable embedded systems. It also covers remote access functionality is also shown using cloud services. Divided into two parts, this paper gives design examples for both an elevator controller and a Data Acquisition (DAQ) system design. Focus was on the Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) 6 based kit, PSoC Creator software, and Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) as rapid prototyping and learning platforms for digital and analog system designs. The Universal Digital Block (UDB) editor in PSoC Creator software was used to configure PSoC chip digital blocks and design a Finite State Machine (FSM) based elevator controller, which acquired digital signals and gave corresponding output. LabVIEW was used as a signal analysis tool and was also used to send results for online access and display. The PSoC and LabVIEW ecosystems are utilized here to bring an innovative paradigm into the embedded system design. These two platforms, especially combined with the virtual instrumentation concept, offer configurability and monetary value. This paper shows that the

The paper presents some preliminary results in engineering a context-aware assistive system for manual assembly tasks. It employs context-based predictors to suggest the next steps during the manufacturing process and is based on data collected from experiments with trainees in assembling a tablet. We were interested in finding correlations between the characteristics of the workers and the way they prefer to assemble the tablet. A certain predictor is then trained with correct assembly styles extracted from the collected data and assessed against the whole dataset. Thus, we found the predictor that best matches the assembly preferences.

As cycling becomes increasingly important in sustainable mobility policies, there is also an urge for new digital applications and services for urban cycling. This new generation of cycling applications should be able to connect cyclists with their local cycling ecosystem, promote cycling, and empower cyclists to become active agents of urban mobility. In this work, we aim to explore the new opportunity space of digital tools and applications designed specifically for urban cycling. We pursue this goal by trying to uncover current practices associated with digital tools that are already available and also by trying to uncover new information needs, even those that cyclists are not yet able to fully express. To explore these topics, we conducted 2 focus group sessions and 10 interviews with cyclists. The result is a set of design opportunities for the development of new applications, tools and methods for improving the cycling experience in the context of urban mobility. We expect this contribution might help to better define the design space of innovative digital tools for urban cyclists.

Development of automation and robotics causes a need for implementing an innovative approach towards teaching. It is especially important for vocational education, as for this an expensive equipment is needed to train within real-life setups. Thus, AR and VR technologies give an opportunity to decrease costs, while keeping a high level of course-taught skills and knowledge. The paper consists of an overview of possible applications of virtual and mixed realities for education purposes and a presentation of MILAN project. This involves a description of key ideas for skill-transfer based on e-learning platform using various ICT solutions;VR and AR among others. Also, already implemented VR methods in two robotics-training cases are presented.

This study aims to develop a model of multiple ways or processes in order to create a spiritual welfare of knowledge society 5.0. Society 5.0 is a human-centered society to renovate social resolution between virtual world and actual word through harmony. Society 5.0 requires a knowledge society that has a unique community of knowledge workers. Some research provides the best ways to form a knowledge society, but not many researches offer the measurement of spiritual welfare and the forming factors. Therefore, we need a model to create spiritual welfare in society 5.0 that focuses on human values and self-concept. The specific targets to be achieved in this research are understanding the application of knowledge society concept, dimensions, forming factors and its impact on spiritual well-being. The future research agenda is provided to address the validity of the proposed model.

One of the most recent and popular forms of technology in the consumer market is the virtual voice assistant (i.e., smart speaker) made by well-known companies such as Amazon Echo and Google Home. These devices allow users to perform voice interaction to perform a variety of tasks that can be beneficial to consumer groups such as high school students, college students, rural consumers, families, senior citizens, and disabled consumers. Thus, this study investigated the key elements of different consumer groups related to voice-activated smart home technology in order to understand how to educate and promote this technology to individual groups. In the study, there were 71 participants from six consumer groups including high school students, college students, rural consumers, consumers with disabilities, seniors, and families. Each group was surveyed prior and after a demonstrative smart home workshop to evaluate their knowledge, perceived usefulness, and preferential use of smart home technology. The results of the study showed that while the utilization of voice-activated smart home technology was not significantly different between consumer groups, the top-three benefits of using this technology were security, safety, and assurance. The major barriers that prevented consumer groups from implementing the technology was the cost of the system and concerns with user privacy.

This report is suggesting the beneficial effect of clustering micro bloggers tweets from 60 hash tags relating to the issue of Veganism. Going Vegan is a wellknown effect on health. We aimed to analyze tweets coming from casual Twitter users and twitter accounts representing the veganism society and industry. We cluster the group of discourse that coming from 60 and more hashtags. These tags include tweets that have tagged with #plantbaseddiet, #vegan food, #vegetarian, etc. We collected n = 50,634 tweets and analyzed n = 25,639 processed tweets. The result shows that sampled tweets, which includes 1) concerns about animal welfare;2) sustainability (environment) 3) ways to live a healthier lifestyle (Health), and 4) methods and options for Vegan (recipe). Although with 60+ hash tags, this grouping practice allows decision making processes more manageable. This work not only demonstrates the application of a clustering algorithm to collate micro blogs with different hash tags into groups of similar topics but also shown that it is possible to develop a platform for automatically assembling information on the same subject from a range of different micro blogs. The application can significantly assist others, including academic researchers, or businesses, to quickly and effectively find information and knowledge from these sources. This application is possible for society looking for a healthy life.

E-Learning is considered a new philosophy of education that is involved in all existing forms of education including full-time education. Presently, there is a variety of software to develop interactive content. This study is aimed to examine the possibility of employing STACK (the System for Teaching and Assessment using a Computer algebra Kernel) assignments in the mathematics classroom at a technical university, to compare the use of the STACK questions activity with traditional training, and to evaluate the effectiveness of this method. The experience of using STACK questions has shown that their application helps students of all forms of education in learning mathematics, and considerably facilitates the learning process of teachers, allows you to implement a point-rating (cumulative) system of assessment of knowledge, makes the learning results more visible and convenient for analysis. In addition, we note such advantages of STACK as: the STACK assignments allows you to check analytical solutions to complex types of problems and organize hints that help solve tasks, the STACK assignments saves the teacher time to check solutions and gives students individual options for tasks, tasks prepared in STACK can be used in various modes, such as training mode and monitoring one. In the course of the study, the STACK assignments were analyzed that revealed a greater number of advantages of this assessment compared to its disadvantages and demonstrated the possibility of its application in the educational process.
