Nowadays, virtual reality (VR) systems gain popularity in various applications ranging from space to entertainment. Education took up this challenge thus promoting virtual reality into the learning environment, first of all, in teaching science and engineering. Courses in humanities, however, are often ignored, though they have a great potential of applying VR techniques to develop students' soft skills, intercultural communication among them. To bridge this gap, the paper aims at analyzing the demand for VR, the experience in virtual reality and readiness of Master's degree engineering students for taking courses with immersion into virtual reality, using the example of intercultural communication courses. The authors analyzed recent publications in research journals and conference proceedings on the use of VR tools in higher education paying special attention to engineering curricula. The authors also conducted a survey among 87 MSc students focusing on the degree to which students are familiar with VR and ready to study through immersion into VR. The overall analysis of the survey results revealed that the students have a limited experience of using VR in any applications but most of them are ready for this experience in education. Based on these interpretations of the survey results, the authors made an attempt to develop a draft course to introduce elements of VR into EFL teaching for engineering students. Further research can be done to disseminate the initial experience of VR applications and to update the course developed.

This paper describes a multimodal assistive technology, called NJOY, to help students with multiple disabilities or with some type of special needs in terms of mobility, communication, and learning impairments. The basis of the entire system is an App that runs on a Tablet with a multimodal interaction system that includes a joystick that was developed for this purpose, a symbol-based communication system that aims to increase or compensate for communication, language, and learning difficulties with audio feedback. The system also integrates with a home automation system, which can be controlled using the same App and the same interaction mechanisms, and an SMS module that allows the read, through text-to-speech technology, of the received SMS, and send predefined SMS messages to predefined users. The system was tested by a sixteen-year-old student with degenerative disease of the central nervous system including severe motor, articulation, visual impairment, and limitations at a cognitive level, which greatly compromises its functionality, depending on adults to carry out the basic tasks of daily life. The results were very promising with the user being able to use the system without any major difficulties.

In this paper, we present a mobile Audience Response System (ARS) that is aiming to improve the teaching process for both students and teachers. It was designed and created an app that students can download and use on their phones to answer Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) given by the teacher during class. Students can answer these questions by using their mobile phones, in real time, and the teacher can immediately get the results and see a graph distribution of their answers. This is a step towards encouraging the Active Learning Model and increasing student participation during class while also providing the teacher immediate feedback. A pilot testing has been conducted and results are discussed. Also, future actions are described.

The music industry has faced a tremendous change ever since the emergence of streaming. People now had access to unlimited music to listen to and share with others, which is a great concept. As companies started to invest in the future of streaming, many platforms were created, one of them being Spotify. Standing amidst a crowd of competitors, Spotify managed to climb to the top and comfortably remain there over the years (listed on the NYSE and having 120 employees;IPO share price (3rd April 2018) = 169.9 US Dollars and share price of 319.77 US dollars on 4th December 2020). However, it was not easy. Being one of the top streaming platforms in the industry requires effort, investment, adaptation and innovation, and exceptional management. This study analyses in-depth the aforementioned aspects, as well as the company's business models and its revenue, which combined, led Spotify to where it is today. A survey with 498 answers was performed regarding Spotify, and the results were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential (Chi-Square test) statistics. We thus conclude very confidently that there does seem to be an association (statistically significant at the 0.1% level) between age and the use of Spotify. Younger respondents (18-35 years) are more likely to use Spotify than older respondents (> 35 years). Overall, Spotify's business model is one of the best in its field and is constantly evolving, which is what is to be expected of a company that seeks the top spot on the podium.

A study conducted by the World Economic Forum revealed that about 75 million jobs will disappear because of the Artificial Intelligence (AI), but AI will bring with it more than 133 million new job. Therefore, for making a smooth transition to the next Industrial Revolution, the reskilling initiatives play a key role. In the information age, it is crucial to educate students to acquire the skills necessary for the new jobs that will be created thanks to AI. Because everything we touch and everything we do will be enhanced by AI in the near future, new ways of working will become increasingly popular. Therefore, this paper aims to define new learning methods based on AI to educate engineers for the jobs that will emerge in the following years. AI is the fusion of many fields of study. Electrical engineering and computer science are determining the hardware and software implementation of the systems based on AI. The teaching practice used in this study combines several fields of study and is based on using LabVIEW including the Deep Learning Toolkit (DeepLTK) and Python Node to teach engineers all the necessary steps for developing, validating and deploying machine learning-based systems. The approach is based on learning by examples and by comparisons with human intelligence, methodologies which have proven to be very efficient. The key anticipated outcome of this study is that students and engineers will gain relevant knowledge about the powerful machine learning algorithms.

Most of the existing destination prediction methods are based on historical travel trajectory data. There is rarely method to predict users' travel destination only depending on departure time and the coordinates of departure point. In this paper, we use a real-world travel dataset, which only contains time and the coordinate of users' travel location, and no trajectories, we propose a new destination prediction algorithm, which is composed of three modules, including candidate destinations supplement, feature extraction and classifier training. For some users who have rarely travel records, according to a supplement rule, we choose tens of candidate destinations from millions of data. We extract statistical feature, temporal feature, spatial neighbor feature and graph feature from the perspective of the user group, time and geographical location. Finally, the performance of our proposed algorithm in terms of score and running time is demonstrated by experiments.

Project activities are an important component of the innovative development trend. Skillful project team building influences the efficiency of all work, so it is critical to understand roles of team members. This understanding will help put together an efficient group and improve the quality of decisionmaking on group management. Roles can be defined through a number of tests, but actual practical activities represent a more reliable source of information. A WebQuest is an umbrella term for various online and offline events in this format based on game mechanics. A number of solutions within the WebQuest allow defining students' roles in the team in the course of practical activities with a high level of engagement in the game. This approach has been studied in this article. The article presents assessments of roles with the help of the following indicators: the player's speed of response as compared with other team members;differences between answers within the group;the order of answers given, etc. Additionally, the project allows testing during the game, and that makes it possible to find out the participants' (players') opinions about the current distribution of roles in the team. Aside from studying the results of the event and collecting data on the aforementioned hypotheses, it is planned to compare the obtained results with other generally accepted team role tests, and the actual results of student team project activities in the framework of a special university course - Introduction to Project Management. Therefore, the main focus of the study is to check the hypothesis that roles of participants in university project teams can be selected through student games in a specially arranged short-term playing environment at the university.

The computing devices in cloud or fog data centers remain in the continuous running cycle to provide services. The long execution state of large number of computing devices consumes significant amount of power which emit equivalent amount of heat. The high powered cooling systems are installed for data centers to avoid reduced performance of the devices due to heat. In cloud based infrastructure, the longer response time between service provider and end-users is challenging for efficient power utilization in smart grid. In this paper, fog based model is proposed for a community to ensure real time energy management service provision with minimal network latency and efficient resource allocation technique. Moreover, a mechanism is proposed to calculate the energy demand for computing devices and cooling system for fog data center. In this paper, two scenarios are proposed to analyze the energy cost for a community and fog data center by integrating green power supply. The simulations show that green community with green fog is 15.09% more cost efficient as compared to the community with utility's power supply only.

The major problem engineering instructors have when they wish to effectively integrate any educational technology such as virtual laboratories is the lack of comprehensive guidelines. This paper discusses the design and development of the experiment design guidelines, which enable engineering instructors to design effective virtual laboratory experiments. The instructors follow a step-by-step process for the scientific design of various virtual laboratory experiments and the online SDVIcE tool provides scaffolds with description of various aspects of the experiment design. The effectiveness of the SDVIcE tool is established with the help of a quasi-experimental study carried out with 39 UG engineering students. The students were divided into two groups. The control group students perform the experiment in virtual lab using the traditional experiment design and the students from the experiment group perform experiments designed using the SDVIcE tool. The results of the study indicate that the laboratory learning outcomes and skills developed are improved when they perform experiment in the virtual laboratory with experiment designs carried out using the SDVIcE tool. So it can be claimed that the SDVIcE tool is effective in improving the quality of the virtual laboratory experiment designs.

Although there is a growing interest in engaging children in the design of interactive learning technology, young learners are mostly asked to co-design features and apps that lie on the peripheral of the learning processes, such as websites, e-portfolios or assessment applications. In this article, we will try to investigate whether experienced elementary students can offer useful insights about the design of the content of an educational app, its learning representations and its learning interactions. For this purpose, we have developed a collaborative board design game called We!Design!Fractions, for designing apps about fractions. Fractions constitute a demanding learning domain in elementary education and, hence, an appropriate testbed for our research aims. The design game consists of a game board, cards, dice and pawns and it was developed by exploiting theories about board games, collaborative design games and idea generation. A study was conducted with 27 6th grade students who participated in 7 design sessions of three to four students. Each session lasted for about 3 h. By playing the game, students proposed a total of 199 ideas about the educational app that were later evaluated by themselves regarding their learning usefulness and their innovation. Students claimed that the board game stimulated their idea generation process, offered an enjoyable experience and that their proposals could enable designers develop an educational application about fractions that would fulfil better their needs and preferences.
