Mobile learning has huge potential for developing countries like India where mobile devices have greater penetration even in rural areas recently. There is a remarkable difference in the quality of education between urban and rural India. Rural Indian students being the first generation learners of English, they have poor facilities for learning English both inside and outside the class. Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) plays a vital role in India Proficiency in English is considered essential for employment and higher education opportunities for millions of rural youth. The present paper aims at studying how rural Indian students respond to MALL individually and as a group to different learning activities and benefit from the same. The study is based on the data collected through a questionnaire and focus group discussions and the assessment tests at the beginning and end of the study. Statistical analysis of the data indicates positive results for group learning activities like contests and debates using social media whereas individual activities like recording one minute speeches have shown mixed results. Some of the best collaborative learning activities based on flipped classroom methods have implications for the practitioners, course designers and future research.

Multidimensional scaling (MDS) is a prevalent method for presenting multidimensional data visually. MDS minimizes some stress function. We have proposed in [1] and [2] to consider the stress function and multidimensional scaling, in general, from the geometric point of view, and the so-called Geometric MDS has been developed. Geometric MDS allows finding the proper direction and step size forwards the minimum of the stress function analytically when coordinates of a separate point of the projected space are varied. In this paper, we examine the stress function theoretically and experimentally when simultaneously changing the position of all the points of the projected space in the directions, defined by the Geometric MDS strategy for a separate point. Several new properties and capabilities of the Geometric MDS have been discovered. The obtained results allow us to extend the understanding of properties and ideas of Geometric MDS for the future development of a class of new effective algorithms for multidimensional data visualization and its dimensionality reduction.

As of November 17, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has over 55 million reported cases, causing more than 1.3 million deaths. To prevent this pandemic, some countries placed severe resection in the form of full-scale lockdown, while others took a moderate approach, e.g., mass testing, prohibiting large-scale public gatherings, restricting travels. South America adopted primarily the lockdown strategies for not having a sophisticated public-health infrastructure. Since the social interactions between people are primarily affected by the lockdown;psychological distress, e.g., anxiety, stress, fear are supposedly affecting the South American population in a severe way. This paper aims to explore the impact of lockdown over the psychological aspect of the people of all the Spanish speaking South American capitals. We have utilized infodemiology approach by employing large-scale Twitter data-set over 33 million feeds in order to understand people's interaction over the months of this ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Our result is surprising: at the beginning of the pandemic, people demonstrated strong emotions (i.e. anxiety, worry, fear) that declined over time even though the actual pandemic is worsening by having more positive cases, and inflicting more deaths. Therefore, the result demonstrate that the South American population is adapting to this pandemic thus improving the overall psychological distress.

Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) continues to be an under-researched phenomenon and is a form of problematic use of the Internet (commonly mistaken for Internet addiction). FOMO is a behaviour connected with the avalanche of information and the development of new digital technologies. Young people in particular are exposed to FOMO. Age is a predictive factor for different types of problematic Internet use. Therefore, coverage by specific diagnostic and preventive activities is a special task for experts in media pedagogy. The aim of the research was to show the scale of the FOMO phenomenon among Polish adolescents. The research covered 979 adolescents aged 13-18 years. The research was conducted with the use of the questionnaire "Social Media Use and the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO)" throughout Poland in the school year 2018-2019. On the basis of the collected data it was noted that: 1) the most frequent symptom of FOMO is the use of social networking sites just before bedtime (about 70% of respondents) and just after waking up (about 50% of respondents);2) About 30% of respondents are classified as possessing strong FOMO characteristics, about 43.5% have an average FOMO level, 26.5% have a problem-free use of SNS;3) All FOMO factors coexist at medium or high levels;4) Girls have a slightly higher FOMO level than boys;5) Variables related to place of residence, type of school, grade average, and subjective sense of wealth are related to FOMO intensity. FOMO is an important challenge for education, the prevention of risky behaviour in cyberspace, and the development of the information society.

The digital age offers opportunities for the development of online information and communications technology (ICT) systems that emphasize the important role of digital literacy, including communication between people and the values necessary for working in an online environment, which greatly influences the processes and practices of learning and teaching. Especially in the field of mobile learning, digital and data-evaluating skills are of great importance, as this type of technologically extended learning is based on a comprehensive use of cloud and internet-based services. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the German version of a validated 54-item questionnaire and to assess the level of digital literacies and digital readiness of undergraduate and graduate students at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. An online questionnaire was developed based on the items designed by Kurtz and Peled [1]. The questionnaire included 54 items divided into seven areas: data research and retrieval;data validation;data management;data processing;teamwork;integrity awareness;and social responsibility. The items were translated into German language and their validity was evaluated with Cronbach's Alpha in a pre-study on 155 students. After improvement of some items, all students from the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences were asked to complete the questionnaire. The first key outcome of this study is the validation of the German version of a validated 54-item questionnaire. The second key outcome is the level of digital literacies and digital readiness of undergraduate and graduate students at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. Finally, we want to find out if there are differences in the digital competencies between the various degree programs of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. In the LEXIS project, a tsunami and earthquake large scale pilot is being deployed on top of an innovative HPC/Cloud orchestration layer, combining real-time deadlines, high performance simulations and cloud processing. To handle this, we have relied on a suitable model of computation oriented towards performance and real-time requirements, and used it to model, map and integrate the pilot workflow over the LEXIS orchestration and data exchanges technologies. This paper describes how the model of computation expresses real-time constraints over workflows, how such a model can be used to compute the necessary resources for a target latency and quality of service, and how the LEXIS orchestration layer is extended to offer the necessary features to implement this workflow.

The evaluation of engineering education interventions is important to gauge their impact and whether they achieve their intended objectives. Building Information Modelling (BIM) educational interventions are increasingly common at universities globally and their implementation is often accompanied by ad hoc evaluation practices and sometimes little evaluation at all. The aim of this study was to investigate existing evaluation practices among engineering educators, in particular technology mediated interventions and determine an appropriate evaluation methodology for BIM for Construction Education (BfCE) pilot initiatives. Academic articles and educational (non-research) guidance literature were reviewed to identify existing evaluation models. In addition, reported cases of BfCE were reviewed to identify specific approaches that have been applied to evaluate such initiatives. The study found that the use of evaluation models in engineering education is low. In addition, little evidence of the use of evaluation models in relation to BIM education interventions was found indicating a need to increase awareness among engineering educators on the importance of evaluation in promoting engineering education. An evaluation framework was derived to support engineering educators to more effectively evaluate their BfCE interventions.

Given the diversity of interactive instructional systems targeting higher engineering education, a systematic assessment of such systems is desirable in order to offer an overview on the existing landscape. Following a Systematic Mapping protocol (search, extraction, selection, mapping/visualization and discussion), 294 studies have been selected from a publication interval between 2010-2019 and discussed according to venue characterization and field applicability distribution. The resulting analysis demonstrated the various forms of research under which studies are conducted (from Validation Research, Experience Papers to Opinion Papers and Solution Proposal), while offering a specific depiction on the interactive technologies (Augmented/Virtual/Mixed/Simulated Reality, Game-based strategies, Simulation environments, Conversational tools/other bots) used in educational processes (teaching, learning, training, tutoring, practicing, supporting). The current study demonstrates the overall applicability of the Systematic Assessment frameworks to in-depth characterization of such a landscape, providing the preliminaries for a further statistical analysis.

With the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in providing newtools for interaction between citizens and government agents, public participation has been improved, allowing access to a more significant number of participants in the public policy process, and allowing faster and better monitoring of public servants' initiatives. These specific ICTs may be seen as generators of information systems, which promote processes and social values among citizens and public agents acting as users. This research is a descriptive one, that presents six cases of technologies for improvement of social participation, and which can be potentially useful for smart city development through institutions termed living labs. The paper describes real cases analyzed under the perspective of information systems, presenting challenges and results aligned to six models of use of ICTs for improvement of social participation, as proposed by [1]. The research collaborates to interpreting the design of smart cities under the perspective of information systems development.

Complications arise during automatic control of technological type control objects which are linked to their properties variations. They are caused by changes in raw material parameters, energy carriers, equipment degradation, etc. These changes have an influence on not only controlled variables but change the specifics of closed loop control system own motion. In mathematical models these changes are considered as parametric disturbances and often are represented by variable transition coefficient of the control object. The range of its change can reach and even exceed the value of ten. Common automatic control systems with constant controller parameters, in this case, loose stability and are switched to positional mode. Corresponding mathematical apparatus is proposed. Necessary data for computer experiments are prepared. Ways of Matlab/Simulink software Design Optimization module application are determined.
