The usability of smart homes applications is crucial to ensure their correct and pleasant use, thus contributing to the safety, comfort, and entertainment of the inhabitants of a smart home. Since heuristic evaluation is a widespread method for usability assessment, the objective of the study reported by the present paper was to verify the applicability of this method to assess the usability of smart homes applications. Therefore, an experience was conducted to apply the heuristic evaluation method to assess the usability of three different smart homes applications. This evaluation involved three evaluators and was based on the Heuristic Evaluation System Checklist (HESC). The results reveal that the application of the heuristic evaluation method using the HESC is a demanding and time consuming task, since 292 sub-heuristic should be considered. In turn, the results also show that heuristic evaluation is effective in the exhaustive identification of the concrete flaws of the interfaces of smart homes applications and generates a large quantity of objective information valuable for the improvement of the applications.

Today there are a considerable amount of algorithms that are used by scientists and developers to detect patterns in pictures. Due to the complexity of such analysis, with this paper, we want to understand and share the results of doing a model training based of a pool of pre-selected algorithms recurring to an accessible python library named ImageAI and the public cloud to perform such training. We used the Google platform Colaboraty to execute our tests.

Data is the basis for designing information. In the healthcare, the management of data can improve patients' treatment and contribute to better provide healthcare services. This study aims to explore how health data are treated in the national health system in Mozambique. The methodological strategy was based on a qualitative analysis, through a semi-structured interview made to the manager of the health information department, supported by a bibliographic search based on PRISMA. The keywords used were data, value, and healthcare, with a limitation of the articles researched. For the work, only articles referring to these terms and with access were included. After screening the articles, considering the criteria used, 49 articles were analyzed. 17 articles were then included in this study. The results of this article are important, as they offer information about the treatment of health data. Through the study it was possible to verify how essential the treatment of health data is, as it helps in decision making. It was also possible to conclude that it is necessary to computerize data and information on health, in Mozambique. The use of the health information system serves as a mechanism for the collection, processing, analysis, and transmission of information to plan, organize, operationalize, and evaluate health services. In this way, health data, when in computerized systems, assist in decision support, decreasing the hypothesis of errors and accelerating the decision-making process by health professionals.

This paper aims to obtain an accurate understanding of consumer acceptance behavior about m-shopping based on the factors that have been explored in the literature, and as determinant of satisfaction and repurchase intention. This paper selected 200 m-shopping customers in Indonesia and examines the regression relationship between the dimension of perceived m-shopping customer and online customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. The findings showed that all perceived m-shopping components (ease of use, usefulness, enjoyment, and value) determine online customer satisfaction and further lead to repurchase intention. By examining diverse literature about perceived m-shopping, online satisfaction, and repurchase intention, this paper offers a unique analysis of the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) theory and provides marketers with a greater appreciation for consumer attitudes and behavior.

As life expectancy grows and the population requirements for satisfactory health and wellness levels increases, there is a clear opportunity for the incorporation of alternative techniques and tools for promoting health and preventing disease. One of these tools, is the use of thermal water-based treatments, commonly known as thermalism, as tools to trigger patients' overall wellness. Despite the collective assumption of the effects of thermalism, there is little to no scientific evidence of these treatments, thus impairing the potential of this activity to become more widespread in society. Thus, with this paper, we present a conceptual model for a non-invasive sensing system based on wearables that can monitor a set of patients' biomarkers which will serve as the basis for the validation of the effects of thermalism. This system will also serve as a management and operation control tool for thermal SPA managers and technical directors.

Aim. Evaluation of the occurrence of the early error (overestimation of perception of mirror reflections) and its size in the selected groups of individuals, as well as the analysis of the relationship between the size of the error and spatial orientation, evaluation of one's own figure, time spent in front of the mirror and age. One hundred and ninety seven individuals were enrolled in the study, i.e. 46 school-going children, 30 hairdressers, 30 fine arts students, 30 medical students, 31 architecture students, and 30 individuals who were not related to any of the above activities aged 45-70 (Q group). An interview questionnaire was used with the early error evaluation test, a Standard Figural Stimuli Scale, and the WAIS-R block design subtest. The early error was made most frequently in the Q group. A significantly lower mean error was observed in the group of hairdressers, architecture students and individuals who declared themselves as having a scientific-oriented mind. The size of the error also sex-dependent - the error occurrence was significantly lower in males. A significant relationship was not found between the studied factors (age, error in the Standard Figural Stimuli Scale, subjective evaluation of one's geometric imagination, time spent in front of the mirror, acceptance of one's own body, and results of the WAIS-R block design subtest) and error size. The early error is made more frequently by middle-aged individuals and by females, regardless of their age. Its size was different for individual professional groups.

This paper is part of a PhD study. Parents and caregivers are the first teachers of young children;and therefore, play a crucial role in transforming education in the early years. The majority of South African parents are living in poverty, and because of their circumstances, they struggle to build relationships with their children. How to offer support programmes to parents living in poverty, at scale and in an affordable way, remains elusive. 'Design-with-the user' approach suggests building and developing programmes with the user throughout the project cycle. To answer the research question of who is the receiver of the message, I zoom into the life of one of the case study participants and specifically, what is the story encompassing her characteristics, needs and challenges. The results show that m-learning programmes designed and implemented in other countries cannot just be transferred into a new local context without adaptation and considering designing with the user.

This paper presents the process of transitioning lab procedures/ manuals from traditional procedural text to interactive text with additional videos explaining equipment operation. Simple tools have been used for this intervention, but the anticipated outcomes in terms of student learning are significant. Lab instructors should also benefit from a smoother-running lab with fewer requests for help which will facilitate increasing the difficulty level of the required experiments. The process for capturing the student perceptions on the effectiveness of this new approach, as well as their satisfaction level, their learning, and actual lab performance is detailed. It involves questionnaires to students and instructors, collection of lab performance grades, and investigation of the view patterns on the posted lab videos. It is believed that this plethora of data will paint a clear picture of the results of the new approach. Comparisons with the traditional lab delivery method can also be made, as only half of the experiments are converted to the new format.

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is education that encourages changes in knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to enable a more sustainable and just society for all. However, competence of educators is a major challenge in achieving ESD. The purposes of this study are to determine the awareness of the engineering academic staff on the goals of sustainable development (SDGs), evaluate their current competence, as well as to identify engineering academic staff educational needs in connection with the integration of sustainable development (SD) issues in the study courses led by them. The study includes components that characterize engineering academic staff educational needs: knowledge, skills, professional competence, motivation to work with SD issues, etc. The results of the survey show that a relatively small proportion of respondents are very familiar with the SDGs. Only in some cases, SDGs and environmental issues were integrated into all professional subjects and courses. Professional competence is mentioned as one of the most important competencies that should be developed by the academic staff. The engineering academic staff also needs to improve the didactic materials. At the same time engineering academic staff in Latvia have a deep understanding of the dimensions of sustainable development and its significance in engineering education.

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) is one of the components of ITS (intelligent Transportation System) where all nodes in the network are autonomously self-manageable and self-organizable. Its establishment depends on the coordination of vehicles and additionally roadside units by which data is spread in the system. Recent years show that VANET network has been taken into consideration by automotive industry. However, every coin has always two faces, therefore VANET security must be also taken into consideration. The paper presents the survey in topic of security solutions for Denial of Service (DoS) attack in VANET.
