The article is devoted to the study of the readiness of teachers and students of an engineering university to implement distance learning in modern conditions. The study of the phenomenon of preparedness involves focusing on a number of problems, which are simultaneously factors that impede the formation of readiness. In schools and universities, there is currently a lack of interest in the STEM subjects (mathematics, informatics, natural sciences and technology) and well-trained teachers for these subjects in Austria and Slovakia. Particularly women are underrepresented in the STEM fields, which further leads to bottlenecks in the job market, although there is an increasing demand for STEM staff in both countries. Educational Robotics has proven to be a valuable tool for practical learning, not only for robotics itself but for STEM topics in general. The project RoboCoop encourages and engages 1800 pupils from secondary schools in Austria and Slovakia to serve as a positive example of more extensive use of educational robotics at the national level in the two countries. The robotic workshops introduce the world of robots and foster creativity and collaboration skills. A comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluation of all workshop activities should allow the identification of best practice activities for teachers in order to ensure systematic and long-term implementation of the robotic activities. The corresponding evaluation tool is introduced in this paper and results with 352 secondary school pupils are presented.

As the climate debate engages ever more high school students to take to the streets, the objective of this research is to combine environmentally conscious thinking with entrepreneurial ambition. By teaching business concepts in a way that is both captivating and immediately applicable, the serious gaming approach is implemented. The game developed during this project follows the story of a young student who initially rents his own bike and later identifies a business opportunity for building a large bike rental company. This paper explains the game and the corresponding lesson, arguing that positive learning outcomes can be achieved through a playful IT tool.

UNESCO is concerned about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on 1.5 billion learners worldwide. Future movers and shakers of our world are losing their valuable time due to the disruptions caused by this pandemic. Cannot they continue their learning activities from wherever they are? Technology provides teachers and students with several means to access a variety of educational resources. There has also been considerable growth in the adoption of technology within educational institutions in recent years. The world is standing on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution, which is based on information and communication technologies. In keeping with this modern trend, data collection was done through the distribution of an online questionnaire among first-year undergraduates of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Moratuwa (UoM) in Sri Lanka during 2017, 2018 and 2019. When preparing the online questionnaire, questions were taken from the Kirk-wood & Price TEL Handbook. Results indicated that all the respondents were computer literate and of them, 80% owned computers at home. Therefore, higher educational institutions can arrange to take advantage of these capabilities to enhance the students' learning by encouraging them to adopt collaborative learning methods. Further, this study shows that more than 95% of them access the Internet by using a smartphone, and as such, higher education institutions can arrange to exploit mobile technologies for engineering education, thereby delivering the maximum benefits to students. Based on the findings of this study, it does make sense to conclude that adopting meaningful technological interventions could result in significant and positive changes in the teaching and learning practices at UoM.

In many universities, a continuum and a variety of startup pre-accelerators, startup accelerators;entrepreneurs, investors, and other support actors, are in place to facilitate entrepreneurship and that student startups emerge. In this paper, we describe how the entrepreneurial ecosystem in and Aalto University works. We describe how Aalto's students explore and develop ideas that exhibit "radical creativity";how faculty and staff at Aalto nurture a "platform of trust" whereby such ideas are not only allowed but also expected;and how "outside entrepreneurs and investors" from the outside come in to work with the best ideas and startups thus developed. The paper proposes implications for policy and management practice in terms of possible import of this model into entrepreneurial ecosystems in and around other universities and other kinds of contexts, and makes a call for further research.

A level shifter is a circuit that translates logic signals from one level to another. Here, we present a level shifter with wide range of conversion. The proposed design comprises of a modified Wilson Level Shifter and a Cross Coupled Level Shifter. The Wilson Level Shifter boosts the input voltage to a desired level with some leakage. The Cross Coupled Level Shifter is implemented at the second stage to achieve the full output swing. To achieve the low power and an efficient level shifting, the proposed design is employed with a hybrid model integrated with power gated Multi-Threshold CMOS (MTCMOS) approach. This results in reduced power consumption to a greater extent. The proposed work is simulated using 45nm CMOS fabrication technology using Cadence Virtuoso simulation software and it consumes about 90% lesser power than that of the conventional hybrid structure and 78.6% lesser power than that of Existing modified Wilson current mirror-based level shifter. © 2023 IEEE.

Automatic text generation is used extensively for various purposes such as creating content for websites, generating reports, articles etc. Automatic Text summarization uses several strategies to summarize the text and can save time and effort. Significant works are done regarding the text summarization process, but achieving automatic accurate text summarization without losing the meaning and context of the words is a challenge. Abstractive and Extractive methods are used in Text summarization and various researchers have investigated and contributed to the text summarization process in the form algorithms. In this paper we intend to present the text summarization methods and procedures suggested in various research papers along with their pros, and future scope. The study of various text summarization methods helps the researchers in understanding the considerations, applicability, and accuracy of these methods and suggest the need for an improved text summarization model. © 2023 IEEE.

Integration of renewable energy resources in power grid may provide technical and economic benefits but their potential impact on the voltage, current quality in grid takes a major role. The integration of RES to power grid results in power quality disturbances (PQD). Identifying these PQD's in real time has become considerably more challenging. Due to electronic system maintenance, PQDs may cause security difficulties and loss. To minimizing PQ events, the events must be identified and classified so that appropriate preventative action may be taken. This paper focus on most commonly occurring voltage quantity events, which have severe impact on equipment connected to the grid in comparison with all other power quality events. In this paper a novel technique has been used for classifying voltage changes into six distinct PQ occurrences. The voltage data is transformed to SPM data, which has separated into sub bands using 2D DTCWT and are analysed by the 2D CNN model at the same time to categorize PQ events. When compared to previously published PQ event classification algorithms, the suggested approach achieves improved accuracy in event classification while maintaining a simpler architecture. © 2023 IEEE.

The interpretation and detection of human emotions are crucial functions of the center-nervous system. Physiological signals are used widely to develop emotion recognition systems in recent years. Detection of emotions using electroencephalogram is a challenging task since they exhibit nonlinear nature. In this paper, three popular machine-learning models are implemented on an acquired database using a Novel approach. The EEG signals are acquired by showing Virtual Reality Video clips for eight discrete emotions. Thirty-four features are extracted in time and frequency domains. The frequency bands decomposition is carried out using 4-level Discrete-Wavelet-Transforms. The generated feature vectors are used on KNN, SVM, and ANN algorithm-based classifiers to classify the data into four, three, and two emotion states. The overall accuracy using ANN, SVM, and KNN classifiers is 85.50%, 73.50%, and 66.75% respectively for 4 classes. The performance of ANN classifiers gave a better accuracy compared to other models. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have gained popularity in recent years due to several benefits, including reduced emissions, reduced fuel cost, and reduced maintenance needs. For this trend to continue, infrastructure related to them, like charging stations, must be widely available. However, the current charging station network is still in its infancy and is frustrating for many prospective electric vehicles (EV) customers. One common issue is "Range anxiety,"which refers to EV users being concerned about depleting their battery during a trip. Therefore, expanding the charging network is vital to advance EV sales. The Government of India targets 30% electric vehicles by 2030. For the overall social cost to be minimized, it makes sense to place them logically. This paper examines multiple parking lots and grades them based on nearby high-crowding areas and the investment required to install charging stations. The placement of a charging station could be affected by factors such as the number of highly crowded places (HCP) nearby, like shopping malls and universities, and the number of charging stations already present. Ultimately, the paper presents a novel study to provide the most suitable location for future electric vehicle charging stations in Bangalore. © 2023 IEEE.
