The paper present the results of the research conducted in 2019 by Kids&Toys Observatory of Politecnico di Milano, which aims to understand the impacts of digital transformation on parents and children's behaviours and habits, with a particular focus on the processes of choosing and buying toys. Thanks to qualitative and quantitative analysis, the study focus on digital transformation's, social effects and user's emerging needs to analyze how much is changing in the dialogue between companies in toys sector and their customers (adults and children). The results open valuable discussions on the role of design in terms of tools, methods and approach in supporting companies in the Kids&Toys sector to develop hybrid scenario including new in-store experiences (ISE) and on-line experience both in line with traditional needs and the emerging behaviors of children, parents and care-givers.

Contemporary societies are undergoing significant transformations which correlate with the dynamic developments of the information and communication technologies (ICTs). Today these transformations are being catalyzed by the intensity of the media ecosystem, combining the traditional media with the potential of the blogosphere, social networks and mobile communications. Situated in the context of globalization processes, the media themselves are undergoing multi-layered transformations. Using PEST analysis, the article examines the political, economic, social and technological management practices in the Bulgarian media ecosystem.

Nowadays, the importance of non-physical goods in traditional production companies is steadily increasing. Accompanying this, companies are confronted with challenges in the area of knowledge transfer and employee support during production processes. Particularly affected are conservative industries such as the textile industry, which rely heavily on implicitly available experience-based (tacit) knowledge. A promising approach to tackle these challenges presents the concept of an "Internet of Production (IoP)". This contribution provides a framework on how the IoP can be conceived and incorporated within the textile industry. Focusing on five textile use-cases, it is described, how know-how transfer and support systems are imminent for the wide-spread introduction and perpetuation of the IoP.

The paper deals with the method of similarity for the decision making process. It was noted that there are two approaches to the systems similarity analysis - structural similarity and descriptive one. Structural similarity, which is based on theorems proven in algebraic systems and universal algebra theories, which are difficult to apply. The authors acknowledged that descriptive similarity is more relevant for assess two sets, which must consist of relevant statements. This study examines the application of descriptive similarity in the process of managing the development of urban transport systems in small towns in Estonia and Ukraine.

Diagnosis of dental diseases is a labor-intensive process for dentists with inaccurate information. Diagnostic depends on uncertainty information and using artificial intelligence is required by dentists. Dental diseases detection needs expert opinion and information in order to improve their perception. Accurate detection can define an approach which capable of processing observed data. This work offers a method based on fuzzy logic and neural network. It can operate with any type of data such as imprecise, inaccurate or noisy information and Fuzzy Logic systems is understandable. Fog computing is an emerging technology that offers high-quality cloud services by providing high bandwidth, low latency, and efficient computational power and storage capacity. Although cloud computing is an efficient solution so far to store and retrieve the huge data of IoT devices, it is expected to limit its performance due to low latency and storage capacity. Fog computing addresses these limitations by extending its services to the cloud at the edge of the network. In this paper, we use a fog computing network approach for efficiently retrieving the real-time patient data. An Attribute Matcher for Test-to-Code Traceability 1

Execution of test cases without considering the related source files makes test-to-code traceability difficult. Most of the current approaches depend on the idea of directly accessing from test relevant dataset or programs to source files. But the data needed to access source files is already generated and tracked as work items and change sets. Since in most of the software companies, development and testing teams and their processes are separated, the relevant data is also generated and tracked redundantly, without considering the test case-to-work item traceability. In this paper, we propose a matching method, AMT (Attribute Matcher for Traceability) for matching test cases and work items. The proposed method is based on mining the attributes and data of test and work item artifacts. AMT enables two-way matching;such as test to work item and work item to test matching. In this way, an estimated work item set can be generated for a test case. We apply the proposed method on the two sub-repositories of a proprietary collaborative lifecycle management software (PS). The results show that AMT can match test and work item objects with a level of high accuracy. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A series of works on fuzzy logic application in educational systems exist. Student’s performance is a basic attribute in this realm and it depends on level of education. Student’s performance evaluation includes analysis of skills and ability which are characterized by uncertainty. Always student’s results are evaluated by using linguistic terms instead of numerical values. This paper uses fuzzy logic-based approach to find a student with the highest performance. Starting from the analysis of the evolution of social research, this article intends to contribute to the design of some strategies of approximation and reciprocal recognition, between qualitative and quantitative methods, in order to leave the area of conflict that still characterises investigations in the field of social sciences. To this end, the rich experience of the Chicago School and its pioneering ethnographic studies based on methodological plurality are initially presented, and successively the rise of functionalism and empiricism and the rapid development of statistical science and research survey are illustrated. Next, Mills’ critical analysis of the Parsons’ Grand Theory and Lazarsfeld’s "Abstract Empiricism" is presented, then micro-social theories and qualitative research lines are discussed. Afterwards, the theoretical and methodological considerations of several authors, who worked to overcome the opposition between the two perspectives of the analysis of social reality, and launched the challenge of advancing methodological plurality, are discussed. To end the debate, a reflection by Santos about the challenge of building non-extractivist methodologies, consistent with his Epistemology of the South, is introduced. Finally, after the micro-macro debate, the text dedicates an attentive reflection to the potential of qualitative research for the development of science, and addresses the challenge of improving training in the field of qualitative methodologies. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
