In this paper, a system for automated analysis of retinal images is proposed. This system segments blood vessels in retinal images and recognizes the main features of the fundus on digital color images. The recognized features were defined as blood vessels, optic disc, and fovea. An algorithm called 2D matched filters response has been proposed for the detection of blood vessels. Also, automatic recognition and localization methods for optic disc and fovea have been introduced and discussed. Moreover, a method for detecting left and right retinal fundus images has been presented.

This paper introduces a new approach to modeling of e-Ordering and e-Invoicing solutions. Today, electronic means to conduct purchases and sales are essential activities for companies operations, and they need to decide how to implement e-Ordering and e-Invoicing, what software solutions to use, and how to integrate them successfully with their current software. The nature and application field of electronic services such as e-Ordering and e-Invoicing dictates increased interoperability between different platforms. EU-introduced Pan-European Public Procurement Online project, presents an effort for unifying the large variety of procurement solutions from various EU and non-EU countries, and uses CEN/BII profiles to introduce interoperability between them. This paper presents the summary of our analysis of the CEN/BII profiles, and introduces modifications and improvements to this model, to help the flexibility and ease of further modification of the model.

We present an approach for integrated decision making of vehicle agents in urban traffic systems. The planning process for a vehicle agent is broken down into two stages: strategic planning for selection of the optimal route and tactical planning for passing the current street in the most optimal manner. Vehicle routing is considered as a stochastic shortest path problem with imperfect knowledge about network conditions. Tactical planning is considered as a problem of collaborative learning with neighbor vehicles. We present planning algorithms for both stages and demonstrate interconnections between them;as well, an example illustrates how the proposed approach may reduce travel time of vehicle agents in urban traffic.

The support vector machine (SVM) classifier is currently one of the most powerful techniques for solving binary classification problems. To further increase the accuracy of an individual SVM we use an ensemble of SVMs, composed of classifiers that are as accurate and divergent as possible. We investigate the usefulness of SVM ensembles in which the classifiers differ among themselves in both the feature set and the SVM parameter value they use, which might increase the diversity among the classifiers and therefore the ensemble accuracy. We propose a novel method for building an accurate SVM ensemble. First we perform complementary feature selection methods to generate a set of feature subsets, and then for each feature subset we build a SVM classifier which uses tuned SVM parameters. The experiments show that this method achieved a higher estimated prediction accuracy in comparison to well-established approaches for building SVM ensembles, namely using a Genetic Algorithm based search to vary the classifier feature sets and using a predefined set of SVM parameter values to vary the classifier parameters. We work in a context of real-world industrial machine fault diagnosis, using 2000 examples of vibrational signals obtained from operating faulty motor pumps installed on oil platforms.

This paper proposes a clustering algorithm based on concept of rough computing and Entropy information to cluster objects into manageable smaller groups with similar characteristics or equivalence classes. The concept of rough computing is utilized for handling uncertainty associated with information ambiguity in clustering process. The Entropy information algorithm is employed to transform continuous data into categorical data. The proposed algorithm is capable to cluster different data types;different sources for both numerical and categorical data. The proposed algorithm is implemented and tested for a pharmaceutical company data set as a real case study. The clusters purity is used as a performance measure to evaluate the performance of clusters quality of the proposed algorithm. The comparison study verified that the proposed rough clustering algorithm based on entropy information has the highest clustering quality according to the purity and overall purity evaluation criteria.
