Electronic contracting, mostly through software agents, led to an impressive growth in electronic transactions, but also in the number of disputes arising out of these transactions. Paper-based courts are however unable to efficiently deal with this increase in disputes. On the other hand, current Online Dispute Resolution methodologies are impersonal and cold, leaving aside important information such as the disputants' body language and emotions. In that sense, in this paper we propose the creation of environments for dispute resolution that can complement the existing tools with important context information. This, we believe, will lead to dispute resolution tools that will more efficiently achieve mutually satisfactory outcomes.

The main objectives are to allow the achievement of a variety of missions without an explicit writing of control schemes by the developer, and the possibility to augment the robot capacities without any major rewriting. The mobility models followed within metropolitan areas, mainly based on the massive use of the car instead of the public transportation, will soon become unsustainable unless there is a change of citizens' minds and transport policies. The main challenge related to urban mobility is that of getting free-flowing greener cities, which are provided with a smarter and accessible urban transport system. In this paper, we present an agent-based social simulation approach to tackle this kind of social-ecological systems. The Jason Multi-modal Agent Decision Making (J-MADeM) library enable us to model and implement the social decisions made by each habitant about how to get to work every day, e.g., by train, by car, sharing a car, etc. In this way, we focus on the decision making aspects of this problem at a micro level, instead of focussing on spatial or other macro issues. The first results show the different outcomes produced by societies of individualist and egalitarian agents, in terms of the average travel time, the use of the urban transportation and the amount of CO2 emitted to the environment.

Best practices for the publication of Semantic Web data currently place an unacceptably high burden on the end-user, who is supposed to locate and embrace third-party ontological structures prior to publishing any information. In this paper, I argue for a different publication paradigm where end-users are encouraged to publish potentially incomplete or conflicting information according to their own local context, and where heterogeneous data is consolidated a posteriori through bottom-up, decentralized processes. This approach simplifies both the publication and curation processes, while opening the door to pay-as-you-go knowledge integration and human-centered social semantics. However, it also profoundly alters the semantics of the overall resulting system.

This paper proposes the tuning of a class of fuzzy control systems to ensure a reduced parametric sensitivity on the basis of a new Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA). The GSA is employed to solve the optimization problems characterized by the minimization of objective functions defined as integral quadratic performance indices. The performance indices depend on the control error and on the squared output sensitivity functions of the sensitivity models with respect to the parametric variations of the controlled process. The controlled processes in the fuzzy control systems are benchmarks modeled by second-order linearized systems with an integral component and Takagi-Sugeno proportional-integral fuzzy controllers are designed and tuned for these processes.

Due to the importance of security within Semantic Web services, every interaction protocol embedded in dynamic behaviors of composed services should be formally modeled and verified for the satisfaction of some security requirement, such as the compliance of authentication, authorization and privacy policy. Our purpose is to model interactive behaviors and verifying security properties in the ontology-base semantic layer. Towards the aim, we present an OWL-based Past Linear Temporal Logic (Past-LTL) to describe temporal properties within interactions of Semantic Web services and refine some algorithms to reduce the validity of an OWL-based Past-LTL formula into the entailment relationship in OWL. With the help of the action theory on describing dynamic aspect of Semantic Web services, we propose an approach to transform the verification of the authenticity in interactive behaviors of Semantic Web services into the validity of the OWL-based Past-LTL formula corresponding.

Medical image classification based on the image modality is one of the most important and crucial tasks in the medical image analysis. Due to its importance, the aim of the paper is to investigate modality medical image classification problem by using a combination of several classification techniques and feature extraction algorithms over a set of medical images. Four feature extraction methods were used in this paper: LBP, GLDM, GLRLM, Haralick texture features. Additionally we concatenated all four features in one single feature to assess their joint performance. The feature extraction algorithms are tested over three classifiers: SVM extended for multiclass classification based on one against all strategy, k-nearest neighbor and C4.5 algorithm. This examination was conducted over a set of medical images provided by ImageCLEF. The dataset contains 18 classes of images, with a total of 988 images. The distribution of number of images per class is not uniform, so this additionally burdens the task. The best results were provided when the images were described with concatenated descriptors and classified with SVM classifier, with a classification accuracy of 73%.

This paper presents a survey of novel technologies for uncovering implicit knowledge through the analysis of user-contributed content in Web2.0 applications. The special features of emergent semantics are herein described, along with the various dimensions that the techniques should be able to handle. Consequently a series of application domains is given where the extracted information can be consumed. The relevant techniques are reviewed and categorised according to their capability for scaling, multi-modal analysis, social networks analysis, semantic representation, real-time and spatio-temporal processing. A showcase of such an emergent semantics extraction application, namely ClustTour, is also presented, and open issues and future challenges in this new field are discussed.
