Ontology-based semantic retrieval is a hotspot of current research. In order to achieve fuzzy semantic retrieval for university scientific research information in WWW, this paper proposes an approach using Resource Description Framework (RDF) and fuzzy ontology. First, we apply RDF data model to represent scientific research information. Then, introducing new data type referred as fuzzy linguistic variables to RDF data model, the semantic query expansion in SPARQL query language is constructed by order relation, equivalence relation and inclusion relation between fuzzy concepts defined in linguistic variable ontologies. Examples show that this work facilitates the semantic retrieval through fuzzy concepts for university scientific research management on the Semantic Web.

As software becomes more complex and its scope dynamically increases, the importance of research on developing methods for estimating software development efforts has perpetually increased. Such accurate estimation has a prominent impact on the success of projects. The proposed work uses Functional Link neural network (FLANN) based estimation, which is essentially a machine learning approach, is one of the most popular techniques. In this paper the author has proposed a 2 step process for software effort prediction. In first phase known as training phase the FLANN selects the matching class (datasets) for the given input, which is improved by optimizing the parameters of each individual dataset by Genetic algorithm. In second step known as testing phase, the prediction process is done by Functional Link Artificial Neural Networks. The proposed method uses COCOMO-II as base model. The experimental results show that our method could significantly improve prediction accuracy of conventional Functional Link Artificial Neural Networks (FLANN) and has potential to become an effective method for software cost estimation.

Evidence based design methodology can be applied to second language learning by introducing tools and methods based on human machine conversational agents such as restricted chatbots. General purpose chatbots have been used as English tutors, where the learner tries to maintain a generic conversation;on the contrary the proposed tools, obtained by an AIML chatbot generator, are aimed at having a restricted conversation with learners, specifically crafted for the second language training. In the first case study, the obtainable conversation is inspired by the exercises that typically are in a foreign language text book: the chatbot can corrects learners in real time whenever the learner produces incorrect sentences. On the other case, learners have to ask questions to a FAQ-chatbot about a fable that learners should have read to demonstrate the plot of the story has been understood.

All practical real-time scheduling algorithms in distributed systems present a trade-off between their computational complexity and performance. In real-time distributed systems, tasks have to be performed correctly, timely and most importantly in reliable manner. The research till date on task scheduling has primarily focused upon computation time, laxity, priority etc. Reliability of a task or task cluster is normally not considered, when it comes to task scheduling in distributed environment. Finding a reliable schedule in distributed systems with real-time constraints is shown to be NP-hard. The practical scheduling algorithms in real-time systems have not deterministic reliability. Deterministic reliable behavior is an important parameter for system robustness analysis. The intrinsic uncertainty in dynamic real-time systems increases the difficulties of scheduling problem. To alleviate these deficiencies, i have proposed a fuzzy scheduling approach to arrange real-time periodic and non-periodic tasks in systems considering reliability as the parameter for decision. In contrast, the approach balances task loads of the processors successfully while consider starvation prevention and fairness, which cause higher reliability tasks, have higher running probability. A simulation is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. Experimental results have shown that the proposed fuzzy scheduler creates feasible schedules for homogeneous and heterogeneous tasks.

The demand of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to monitor natural disasters extends its use to multiple civil missions. While the use of remotely control UAV reduces the human casualties' rates in hazardous environments, it is reported that most of UAV accidents are caused by human factor errors. In order to automate UAVs, several approaches to path planning have been proposed. However, none of the proposed paradigms optimally solve the path planning problem with contrasting objectives. We are proposing a Master-Slave Parallel Vector-Evaluated Genetic Algorithm (MSPVEGA) to solve the path planning problem. MSPVEGA takes advantage of the advanced computational capabilities to process multiple GAs concurrently. In our present experimental set-up, the MSPVEGA gives optimal results for UAV.

Kraft paper is the most popular raw material for based-paper packaging containers. Poisson's ratio is an important index to indicate the inherent property of materials. There were many difficulties to measure Poisson's ratio of kraft paper using the traditional contract methods, because of its micro deformation and anisotropy. A simple and efficient non-contract method had been proposed to solve this problem using DIC(Digital Image Correlation) method in this paper. Obtained the relative deformation of samples by calibrated CCD images, Poisson's ratio could be computed. The test results indicated that Poisson's ratios of corrugating medium in the MD(Machine Direction) and CD (Cross-machine Direction) were 0.275 and 0.119, and ones of linerboard were 0.275 and 0.119 in MD and CD. respectively. This study showed that DIC was a new approach to measure Poisson's ratio of kraft paper.
