Many ontologies and WordNet type dictionaries have been created with different interactive tools using specalists semantic knowledge to model complicated relational structures. All that type man-machine systems have usually many inconsistencies which are not easy to find. In our article we present a formal methodology which analyzes and tests any given relational table and hands out with a high probability erroneus subpatterns. The final testing and estimating will again be made by a specialist. While looking for structural and lexicographic errors we present the three most known substructures that point to possible errors in wordnet hierarchical structure. An additional substructure to the group of three is a new relative structure called heart-shaped substructure. The nature of the errors for those four substructures has been described. A program written by authors is finding all such substructures in Princeton WordNet (PrWN, version 3.1) and Estonian WordNet (EstWN, version 65). The central type of error in the new substructure have been described only for PrincetonWordNet.

The aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of combining two methods Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and adaptive filtering for identifying the slow waves propagation from cutaneous multichannel electrogastrographical signal (EGG). The 3 cycle per minute (3 cpm) gastric pacesetter potential so-called slow wave is fundamental electrical phenomenon of stomach. Slow waves determine the propagation and maximum frequency of stomach contractions. Appropriate spread of gastric contractions is a key for the correct stomach emptying whereas delay this action causes various gastric disorders, such as bloating, vomiting or unexplained nausea. Parameters depict EGG properties mostly based on spectral analysis and information about slow waves spread and coupling are totaly lost, so new methods for studying slow wave propagation are really desired.

We consider a constrained finite-impulse response (FIR) filter design with time-and frequency-domain piece-wise linear constraints. This type of constrained FIR filter design usually employs the least-squares error criterion and can be generally reformulated as quadratic programming (QP) problem. This paper presents a new algorithm for the design of constrained low-pass FIR filters describing the design problem in terms of the epsilon-insensitive learning derived from AI methods. This approach is based on a dedicated new method for solution of an over-determined system of linear equations. This method tolerates very well the increase of the number of filter coefficients and/or the number of constraints. The proposed method is also characterized by rapid convergence and is suitable for high order filter design.

This paper investigates the role of co-occurrence of low frequent terms in patent classification. A comparison is made between indexing, weighting single term features and multi-term features based on low frequent terms. Three datasets are used for experimentation. An increase of almost 21 percent in classification accuracy is observed through experimentation when multi-term features based on low frequent terms in patents are considered as compared to when all word types are considered.

The aim of the study was to develop a data analysis strategy capable of discovering the genetic background of radiosensitivity. Radiosensitivity is the relative susceptibility of cells, tissues, organs or organisms to the harmful effect of radiation. Effects of radiation include the mutation of DNA specialy in genes responsible for DNA repair. Identification of polymorphisms and genes responsible for an organisms' radiosensitivity increases the knowledge about the cell cycle and the mechanism of radiosensitivity, possibly providing the researchers with a better understanding of the process of carcinogenesis. This article deals with the synthesis and analysis of the air quality (AQ) model in the selected localities of the Czech Republic (CR). The model is aimed at dust particles and weather character. Dust particles were selected, because they create an important part of AQ and then they also carry the risk of respiration diseases. The model is created on the basis of hybridization of rough set theory (RST) and fuzzy sets (FSs) theory. Next, it will be called as a rough-fuzzy approach (RFA). The classification results were compared with classifier based on RST, decision trees (DTs) and neural networks (NNs).

While testing suspicious transactions that cause performance problems in a production database it is helpful to use a specialized tool that can simulate an increased workload. In the paper, we show the model and architecture of the DBPerfTester@UMAP stress testing application that allows the controlled execution of various SQL scripts from many workstations. It thus provides the possibility to test how the specified database behaves under a large pressure from concurrent transactions. DBPerfTester@UMAP is based on the UMAP multi-agent system, which allows the dynamic scalability and extensibility of the testing system. As an addition, we present sample tests of the chosen database management system while running a long transaction.
