Innovations in educational technology coupled with the integration of pre- and post-COVID-19 practices prompted the prevalence of online internships. Yet, facilitating online internships is still in its infancy and warrants further understanding of how the online portals' design can bridge issues on training interactions and outcomes. A regression analysis is conducted to examine the effect of an online internship portal's features to predict training interactions and outcomes. Findings reveal that all three factors affect the interns' training outcomes and interactions. As such, practitioners and internship advisers are advised to enhance and supplement interactions outside of the internship portals.

Instrumental variable regression quantifies causal effects between a possibly confounded treatment variable X-2 and a response variable X-3 by leveraging an instrument X-1. Our work considers the setting where some prior information of the joint distribution of X-123 is given, potentially through an initial dataset. However, further samples must be gathered to improve the accuracy of the estimation. We show that under specific parameter configurations in a Gaussian graphical model, taking partial samples from, e.g., X-12 can reduce the asymptotic variance of a consistent estimator. This idea is developed by adding a budget constraint over the cost per (partial) sample. The optimization problem is analytically solvable over the real numbers and gives the optimal number of requested partial and complete samples. We provide significance level, power, and sample-size calculations for detecting a non-zero causal effect under optimal budget allocation. Our method can considerably reduce the necessary budget and the number of complete samples. Finally, we showcase the advantages and applicability of adaptive causal effect estimation for automotive analytics and pharmaceutical research.

The article highlights the importance of beta convergence and generative artificial intelligence in facilitating the transition to a more generative paradigm. A panel data of 120 countries between 2007 and 2022 is used to estimate the effect of the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) on economic growth, along with other variables such as human capital, physical capital and employment. The results show that the most significant LPI indices are Customs, Infrastructure and competitive international shipping prices, and that logistics has facilitated convergence in the growth of less developed countries. It is concluded that conditional beta convergence has allowed for an inverse relationship between the growth trend and the income level of each starting country, indicating that conditional convergence exists and that logistics has played a key role in facilitating economic convergence between less developed and developed countries. Overall, the results of the study provide valuable information for policy makers in formulating appropriate strategies to promote global economic growth. In summary, beta convergence and technologies such as generative artificial intelligence are important tools to facilitate the transition to a more generative paradigm in logistics performance in countries around the world.

Real-time data from diverse Internet of Things (IoT) sensors (such as cameras, temperature, light, and air quality sensors) is essential for monitoring smart manufacturing environments. However, efficiently perceiving, integrating, and interpreting this data remains a challenge, as it involves dealing with heterogeneous data formats, ensuring data accuracy, and providing real-time analytics. This paper proposes a semantic-enhanced Digital Twin (DT) to address these complexities and aims to offer a comprehensive view of industrial working environments. The paper first presents a conceptual overview of the semantic-enhanced DT architecture, followed by a detailed description of the system architecture, encompassing edge, cloud, and interface modules. Additionally, the implementation of the entire system is presented. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed DT, showing its potential for deployment in real-world scenarios.

This paper addresses an information design problem in a non-atomic network congestion game, where agents seek to move from their origins to their destinations through the fastest path. The information designer, who observes the true state of the world, sends signals to the agents to minimize the expected total travel time (ETTT). We explore two types of signaling policies: public policies and private i.i.d. policies. A public policy provides the same signal to all agents, while private i.i.d. policies can assign different signals to each agent, drawn from the pre-committed distribution. While the best i.i.d. policy consistently archives the lower ETTT, the best public policy is much easier to compute, utilizing a convexification approach. When each cost function is a sum of (i) an affine function of its share and (ii) state-dependent terms, perfect disclosure of the true state proves optimal among all public policies, achieving ETTT at most 4/3 times that of the best private i.i.d. policy. Finally, we introduce a deep neural network model to approximate the optimal private i.i.d. policy.

This study seeks to identify effective evaluation methods according to the use of artificial intelligence. It addresses the extent to which artificial intelligence tools and functionalities are used in secondary education, mainly in students and teachers. The scientific literature on the use of artificial intelligence in academic assessment has been reviewed within the methodological framework. In addition, a survey was conducted with students and teachers to gather information on the influence of artificial intelligence, its ethical use, and its application in different academic activities. It is concluded that artificial intelligence is used in various educational activities, allows for the optimization of the work of teachers, and evaluates, improves, and personalizes the teaching-learning process of students. Notably, students who use artificial intelligence tools prefer to be assessed by human teachers. However, these resources should be used as an aid and adequate follow-up. Finally, this work proposes methods of practical evaluation using artificial intelligence.

Particle swarm optimization (PSO), a classic swarm intelligence algorithm with excellent performance in solving various optimization problems, has widespread applications in UAV path planning. However, PSO often suffers from slow convergence. To address the slow convergence and local optima issues of traditional PSO, a hybrid approach that combines deep deterministic policy gradient algorithms with PSO is proposed, which uses neural networks to assess the particle swarm's state. This led to the development of the Fusion of DDPG and the Particle Swarm Optimization (FDPSO) algorithm. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed FDPSO algorithm, three experiments were carried out within a Python simulation environment, evaluating the convergence speed and flight cost for both individual and multiple UAVs across various obstacle environments. The results indicate that the FDPSO algorithm achieves faster convergence and lower flight cost than to traditional PSO dose.

Ultimately, the modern patient plays an active and empowered role in their healthcare journey. Understanding their specific requirements becomes crucial in amplifying the value of tools such as social networking services. These platforms serve as vehicles to enhance apomediation, facilitating the exchange of health-related information and support among patients. The purpose of this study was to understand the requirements of individuals with autoimmune disease in respect of apomediation. By comprehensively examining these requirements, the study aimed to contribute to a better understanding of how the needs of individuals with autoimmune disease can best be served in a disintermediated setting using technology-based interactions.

Obtaining an optimized path for the direction of harvesting is crucial in agriculture. A variety of agricultural tools, equipment, and resources are used in harvesting, leading to significant consumption of time and energy. In order to make the harvesting efficient, it is necessary to optimize the path of harvesting to achieve maximum profit and minimum energy consumption. Usually, the farm can have damaged crops which occur due to weather extremities, pest attacks, misuse of chemicals, and poor irrigation techniques. Therefore, it is important to avoid damaged crops while harvesting. However, avoiding the damaged crops may not be efficient until the shortest path can be achieved to perform the harvesting. The shortest path to follow for harvesting can be obtained by applying path optimization algorithms. Therefore, this study proposes the application of the A* algorithm to find the optimized path for the direction of harvesting. As a result, productive and efficient harvesting can be achieved by avoiding unnecessary wastage of time and energy.
