Emotion semantic inconsistency is a ubiquitous challenge in multi-modal sentiment analysis (MSA). MSA involves analyzing sentiment expressed across various modalities like text, audio, and videos. Each modality may convey distinct aspects of sentiment, due to the subtle and nuanced expression of human beings, leading to inconsistency, which may hinder the prediction of artificial agents. In this work, we introduce a modality-conflicting test set and assess the performance of both traditional multi-modal sentiment analysis models and multi-modal large language models (MLLMs). Our findings reveal significant performance degradation across traditional models when confronted with semantically conflicting data and point out the drawbacks of MLLMs when handling multi-modal emotion analysis. Our research presents a new challenge and offers valuable insights for the future development of sentiment analysis systems.

In this paper we propose a framework for enterprise system design, which is based on Daniel Dennett's three stances for explaining and predicting the behaviour of an entity or system: the design stance, the physical stance, and the intentional stance. The framework uses the function-behaviour-structure (FBS) ontology of design to formally represent the three stances. It is illustrated by applying it to different approaches to modelling enterprise behaviour: Subject-oriented Business Process Management (S-BPM) and Systemic Enterprise Architecture Methodology (SEAM). The commonalities and differences between the two approaches are identified based on the framework, thus demonstrating its applicability and usefulness.

This preliminary study explores the potential of Google Artificial Intelligence based Natural Language (GNL-AI) sentiment analysis (SA) as a novel and complementary tool for comparing literary translations at the sentiment level. This study investigates how effectively GNL-AI can assess the emotional fidelity of each translation by analyzing the author's emotional sentiment conveyed in the text. It seeks to move beyond traditional methods often driven by subjectivity or literalness and instead explore a different perspective capable of assessing the emotional fidelity of each translation toward the source text (ST). Ahmed Toufiq's Arabic novel, "Abu Musa's Women Neighbors", is the ST that serves as a case study. This research analyzes the sentiment of two translations: English (TT1) by Roger Allen and French (TT2) by Philippe Vigreux. Analyzing the sentiment of 18 ST paragraphs and their corresponding segments in both translations TT1 and TT2 using GNL-AI revealed promising results. Most segments exhibited consistent sentiment patterns, highlighting the potential of this tool for identifying broad emotional trends in literary translations. Three paragraphs showed deviations in sentiment scores, highlighting challenges in achieving perfect alignment between the source text and the translations. Interestingly, the English translation captures well the Arabic author's intended emotional impact, showcasing the potential of GNL-AI SA in evaluating literary translation quality. In contrast, the French translation tends slightly towards neutrality, highlighting both the promise and the limitations of this approach. Future research will involve expanding the dataset and exploring how GNL-AI can be integrated with human expertise for a more comprehensive analysis.

The presence of diacritics plays a crucial role in representing the meaning and pronunciation of Arabic words and sentences accurately. Over the years, researchers have dedicated considerable efforts to enhance automated diacritization systems. However, to our knowledge, Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) models were not yet investigated for the full diacritization approach. This study introduces a novel approach that utilizes transfer learning and BERT for diacritizing Arabic sentences. To show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, this research paper utilizes the Arabic Diacritization (AD) benchmark dataset to compare the constructed BERT model with the most recent research using error metrics. The research findings demonstrate the significance of the proposed approach in improving the accuracy of diacritization. The trained model outperformed all previous techniques and achieved state-of-the-art (SOTA) results in all error metrics. The resulting syntactic DER and WER are 1.14% and 3.35%, respectively. In morphological diacritization, the best results showed a DER of 0.92% and a WER of 1.91%. These results represent a significant relative error reduction of 35% on average compared to previous research.

Fostering students' science identity through games and immersive technology is one approach to encouraging student interest in STEM subjects and careers. In this study, we used the Projective Reflection framework to analyze WaterWays, highlighting features that facilitate science identity exploration. Features including augmented reality, interactive mini-games, automated text read-aloud, and a chat function exemplify aspects of this framework. We examined qualitative interview data obtained from teachers who piloted WaterWays in their classrooms to clarify how students responded to these features in classroom settings. Through this analysis, we discuss how the design features available on digital platforms can promote students' identity exploration. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on designing and evaluating interactive game-based learning environments guided by the Projective Reflection framework.

Digital twins (DTs) facilitate today's product management and digitalized production. Throughout the design, engineering, manufacturing and operation of products, DTdata needs to be exchanged. The lack of interoperability, especially in the context of cross-company data exchange, is a major challenge that hinders the effective use of DT data, starting in the early lifecycle phases. To tackle this challenge, this paper presents an Asset Administration Shell (AAS) solution that enables the creation, provision, integration, and use of cross-company digital twin data throughout the entire product lifecycle, with a particular focus on the design and engineering phase. The exchange mechanism ensures interoperability of digital twin data, starting from the generation, design and engineering phase, and thus building the data basis for all subsequent lifecycle phases, such as manufacturing or operation. The AAS implementation lays ground for overarching all product lifecycle stages and thus meets semantic, technical and organizational interoperability challenges. This paper details the overarching research problem and the design science-based methodology, before providing insight into the results of the initial design cycle.

This paper summarizes the results of a master's thesis [1], which was written at the Technical University of Applied sciences in Cologne in cooperation with mgm technology partners. The goal of the thesis was to analyze the issues and benefits of BPMN and S-BPM and to determine the most suitable approach for business process modeling, especially in the context of low-code. Both notations were found to have limitations - BPMN is quite complex and hard to understand for domain experts, while S-BPM lacks tool support. Therefore, a third approach of combining both notations has been developed with the goal of transforming S-BPM models created by domain experts into BPMN for direct execution in a BPMN-based architecture. As this approach is also not the ideal solution, future work should focus on improving tool support for S-BPM. However, S-BPM has several advantages that make it suitable for modeling business processes where people and their knowledge play an important role.

Speech emotion recognition (SER) is crucial in human-computer interaction. In recent years, the transformer has been widely adopted for SER tasks due to its multi-head attention mechanism. However, not all input time frames are important for the emotion classifier, so it is essential to select the time frames rich in emotional information. In this paper, we proposed a Domain Adaptation (DA) network with K-Weight transFormer (KWFormer) for speech emotion recognition, which names DA-KWFormer. The key of KWFormer is the window-based sparse attention mechanism, which selects the top-k most essential features in the temporal dimension, effectively focusing on the emotion-relevant regions of the input features. Furthermore, DA is employed to learn domain-invariant emotion representations to alleviate domain shifts caused by speaker differences in speaker-independent tasks. Experimental results show that DA-KWFormer achieves the best performance with the weighted accuracy (WA) of 74.18%, 96.27%, and unweighted accuracy (UA) of 75.18%, 95.71% on the IEMOCAP and Emo-DB datasets.

Climate change poses an existential threat to our heritage and the way we live, yet its impacts are still often perceived as distant, which in turn acts as a barrier to achieving the behavioural and societal changes required to solve this emergency. This paper summarises impacts of climate change, psychological barriers to effective action, and how experiential climate learning can help overcome these challenges. Surveys of community perceptions of threats to cultural and natural heritage in Scotland's Western Isles, and the increasing engagement of heritage practitioners with this emergency point to the power of heritage as a positive actor in the climate crisis. A strategy for using virtual reality to extend experiential climate learning is proposed and evaluated through the creation and deployment of a climate heritage exhibit. The exhibit enables climate impacts and potential climate futures for the Western Isles to be experienced. The workflow used is then applied to global landscapes experiencing climate change. This demonstrates the way that virtual reality can represent the diversity of landscapes impacted by this crisis and enable immersive climate learning experiences.

This research examines the impact of innovation labs on productivity and sustainable process optimization by investigating space design and modification in different work environments - the lecture hall, the innovation lab and the modified innovation lab. While classic financial and business process optimizations can often be simulated or analyzed in process models with tools, the establishment of social and ecological process innovations often (still) requires interdisciplinary collaboration. Based on previous findings on the stimulation of creativity in innovation labs, it was expected that more ideas would be generated in such spaces. What is surprising, however, is the identical number of valid ideas generated in lecture halls and innovation labs. However, the innovation lab with a focus on sustainability is particularly noteworthy, as it generated significantly more ideas for sustainable process optimization.
