We propose a novel and effective method for segmentation of connected convex objects. In this method, we find the convex hull of the regions of the connected objects and then extract the convex deficient regions i.e., convex deficiencies which are then used for segmenting the connected objects at appropriate places. It is found that the shortest pairs of tips of different convex deficient regions are the appropriate places for segmentation. This method does not introduce any problem of over and under segmentation issues usually faced in many homogeneous region image segmentation methods such as Watershed segmentation. The proposed method has been applied in segmenting connected soyabeans grains and the connected grains are segmented at appropriate places as expected.

Detailed user electricity information is crucial for promoting energy conservation, emission reduction, and implementing energy optimization. To address the issue of power line interference in the precise data acquisition process, a novel electricity metering system based on electricity identification has been proposed and designed. The metering system consists of two main parts: the electricity identification end and the collection metering end. At the electricity identification end, each electrical appliance's electricity information is independently encoded through ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) digital modulation and coupled to the power line via capacitive coupling. Through power line carrier communication, the collection metering end collects and analyzes the independently encoded information to achieve electricity metering. By constructing an SSA-ELM load recognition model, the accuracy of load recognition has been improved, corresponding to fine-grained electricity consumption of various electrical appliances, thereby providing users with more detailed and intuitive electricity usage data.

Recognized for its significant environmental impact, the textile industry stands to benefit greatly from sustainable practices. This study investigates the development of an innovative algorithm aimed at promoting Industrial Symbiosis (IS) within the Circular Economy (CE), particularly focusing on the textile industry. The project is part of the BE@T initiative, led by CITEVE, which seeks to enhance waste-to-resource exchanges through smart technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Focus Group Discussion played a crucial role in defining the variables for the algorithm. By involving experts in research, technology, and waste management, were identified twenty-six key variables: 14 weighting variables and 12 filter variables. The initial focus group round established these variables, while the second round assigned weights, prioritizing sustainability, and IS. This research emphasises the critical role of intelligent algorithms in optimising waste management, transforming waste into reusable resources and facilitating the cost-effective raw materials acquisition, significantly reducing the amount of waste deposited in landfill. Ultimately, this study showcases the potential of technology-driven sustainability in reducing environmental impact and promoting efficient resource use within one of the world's most polluting industries.

Non-linear systems of differential equations are vital in fields like biology, finance, ecology, and engineering for modeling dynamic systems. This paper explores two advanced function approximation techniques Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) and Gaussian Processes (GPs) combined with Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC) for solving Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) that represent complex physical phenomena. The proposed approach integrates PINNs and GP-HMC, demonstrated through two synthetic models (Lotka Volterra and Fitzhugh Nagumo) and a real dataset (COVID-19 SIR model). The results show that the methodology effectively estimates parameters with low Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). For example, in the Lotka-Volterra model, GP-HMC achieved an RMSE of 0.044 and MAE of 0.041 for one state variable, while PINNs yielded an RMSE of 0.106 and MAE of 0.081. These results highlight the robustness of the methodology in accurately reconstructing system states across varying levels of variability.

This study applies Wi-Fi Channel State information (CSI) technology using ESP32 modules to detect intruders in horticulture areas. The ESP32-based horticulture field intruder detection system utilises the ESP32 microcontroller to gather Wi-Fi Channel State information data, allowing for cost-effective detection of intruders without the need for further sensors. The system incorporates a Li-ion battery and a step-up voltage module in the transmitter and receiver components. The study utilises the Butterworth low-pass filter and median filter to pre-process CSI data, then employs the standard deviation technique to analyse the fluctuations in CSI data to determine the presence of humans. This system aims to offer effective human intrusion detection to prevent the theft of fruits or crops in horticultural areas.

Proper management of parking spaces is essential in urban environments. This study proposes an approach for parking space segmentation using the K-means algorithm and the OpenCV library. The main objective is to determine the trapezoid describing the parking area by analyzing data previously collected from multiple photographs. These images contain several vehicles parked in different dispositions and moments in time. For this, the coordinates of the four leading edges that compose each car were considered. The previously obtained data were used to estimate the trapezoid defining each photograph's parking zone. This approach combines segmentation and image processing techniques to delimit parking spaces in urban environments.

In the era of rapid digitization and extensive data exchange, security of transmitted data has become a significant concern. To overcome this issue, this paper proposes an image encryption scheme comprising of the integration of multiple chaotic maps including Logistic Sine-Cosine Map, Logistic Sine-Tent Cosine Map and Tent-Sine Map to increase the chaotic range of inducing noise, Lifting Wavelet Transform to extract LL band from it since the encoding is carried out on LL band, permutation to rearrange pixel values of plain-text image, and dynamic substitution technique by using three S-boxes to replace the pixel values, and SHA-512 to generate hash functions. These components result in the extreme confusion and diffusion into the plain-text image for securing transmission of multimedia data. The proposed encryption algorithm has been verified by computing different security parameters, which ensure high quality of image encryption by ideal results.

The effectiveness of bearish Japanese candlestick patterns in an uptrend of the NASDAQ-100 index is evaluated using genetic algorithms and based on the theory of contrarian thinking. The objective is to identify optimal entry points during reversals of the prevailing trend by leveraging bearish Japanese candlestick patterns. Twenty-six bearish patterns were analyzed on daily price charts of the NASDAQ-100 from 2011 to 2023. Genetic algorithms optimize trading strategies by simulating and evaluating these patterns, using simple moving averages of 20 and 200 periods to confirm trends and corrections. The main findings highlight the effectiveness of the "Bearish Marubozu" and the combination of "Three Inside Down" with "Inverted Hammer." The "Bear-ish Marubozu" showed a profit factor of 14.21 and an annual return of 10.47%, while the combined strategy achieved a profit factor of 10.18 and an annual return of 5.51%. These results, validated through backtesting and Monte Carlo analysis, demonstrate robustness and accuracy in predicting market movements. Future lines of research in this field are also presented.

This research investigates multilingual sentiment analysis through the lens of a hybrid deep learning model, combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with Gated Recurrent Units (GRU). Our study encompasses datasets in English, Portuguese, Tamil, and French, sourced from diverse online platforms and encompassing various sentiment labels. Methodologically, we detail data collection, preprocessing tailored to each language, model architecture, training techniques, and performance evaluation metrics. Results indicate superior performance of our proposed model across all languages, surpassing established benchmarks in terms of F1 score, recall, precision, and accuracy. Visual representations including confusion matrices and ROC curves further elucidate the model's efficacy. This study underscores the significance of hybrid deep learning approaches in advancing multilingual sentiment analysis, offering insights for future research and practical applications in natural language processing.
