This study investigates the effects of generative AI on the knowledge comprehension of university students, focusing on the use of ChatGPT strategies. Data from 81 junior students who used the ChatGPT worksheet were collected and analyzed. Path analysis revealed complex interactions between ChatGPT strategy use, e-book reading behaviors, and students' prior perceived understanding of concepts. Students' prior perceived understanding and reading behaviors indirectly affected their final scores, mediated by the ChatGPT strategy use. The mediation effects indicated that reading behaviors significantly influenced final scores through ChatGPT strategies, indicating the importance of the interaction with learning materials. Further regression analysis identified the specific ChatGPT strategy related to verifying and comparing information sources as significantly influenced by reading behaviors and directly affecting students' final scores. The findings provide implications for practical strategic guidance for integrating ChatGPT in education.

In this paper, we present an update to Sheet2RDF, a system for lifting tabular data to RDF. Based on an updated comparison with related work, we highlight Sheet2RDF's combination of flexibility and usability, enabled by a powerful transformation language, now being coupled with a richer graphical wizard and heuristics/conventions that simplify the specification of the transformation. We then discuss the enhancements to Sheet2RDF: some of them, related to the expressiveness of the transformation, are motivated by new use cases, such as dataset update, transformation of relational databases, and processing multiple sheets (or tables). Other improvements are more related to usability and improving Sheet2RDF's combined approach;we highlight in this category the substantial improvements to the wizard: an explicit model allows saving, sharing, and reloading of wizard state, while scoped code fragments finally allow for combining the wizard and code editing, sidestepping the non-invertibility of the transformation code generation from the wizard through synced code fragments.

Online learning has brought about significant changes in the education since the COVID-19 pandemic. The cognitive processes involved in online learning have been debated for decades. Although many of the issues regarding instructional designs have been addressed, post pandemic challenges require us to take a more practical approach to prepare students with 21st-century skills. However, discussions on constructing an instructional design through online learning, particularly those related to active learning from a neuroscience perspective are still lacking. Asystematic literature reviewto synthesise empirical data on using or implementing neuroscience educational approaches in online learning is needed. This paper attempts to identify the trends in the neuroscience education in online learning to research sampling trends and the focus of the field of study. The study utilised the science Direct, Scopus, Pro Quest, and ERIC databases based on the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA), of 27 original articles published between 2014 and 2023. The findings reveal that the United States is be the dominant country in conducting neuroscience education approaches through online learning and related studies were mostly performed in 2023. The research samples were also more focused on higher education institutions (HEIs) with an emphasis on teaching and learning activities.

The primary objective of this paper was to find out how completing a task in the metaverse using VR technology, as opposed to doing it in the real world, affects students. In addition, they wanted to find out if there were any differences between the genders. For this purpose, a two group experiment with pre- and post study questionnaires was conducted with 33 students from the University of Innsbruck and the Management Center Innsbruck. The participants were divided into two groups and had 15 min to solve a Sudoku puzzle with VR glasses or a tablet. To measure the experience, several questionnaires were filled out. These were used to record the workload, which was calculated using the standardized NASA TLX score developed by Hart S. (1986). The dimensions of "Mental Demand", "Physical Demand", "Temporal Demand", "Performance", "Effort", and "Frustration" were assessed simultaneously. Subsequently, the results were differentiated between the two environments. It was found that the workload in both groups did not differ significantly. In the subscales, we can find a different situation. Particularly striking is the difference that emerged in physical exertion. With a significance of p < 0.001, this was much higher in virtual reality than in the real world. When looking at the genders separately, it became apparent that the males showed lower exertion than their female colleagues in almost all categories. This applies to four out of six dimensions in the tablet group, and in the other group, it applies to all categories.

Recommender Systems in Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) provide personalized suggestions to users based on preferences, interaction history, and behavior. They enhance learning by offering personalized content, increasing engagement, and improving teaching effectiveness. Challenges in VLEs include the cold start problem, data sparsity, and limited coverage. To address these, we propose G-Learn, a recommendation system operating in both supervised and unsupervised models. It utilizes graph machine learning, keyword mining, and similarity techniques to recommend educational materials tailored to each student's performance. We demonstrate G-Learn's effectiveness in a real scenario using data from Homero, a VLE for computer science education developed for the brazilian federal government. Validation shows an average f1-score of 0.64 in unsupervised model and 0.95 in supervised model.

This study delves into the impact of collaborative writing using Google Docs and Google Gemini on the critical writing skills of 35 Grade 11 students enrolled in a mandatory Thai Language course at a Demonstration School in Bangkok. Participants underwent a structured writing process within small groups, received training on the platforms, and were closely monitored to ensure the integrity of the collaborative process. The study strictly adhered to ethical principles throughout. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the findings suggest promising results, indicating significant improvements in overall critical writing skills. Thematic content analysis of qualitative responses reveals six common themes regarding participants' opinions on Google Gemini and collaborative online writing. These themes highlight Google Gemini's proficiency in assisting with word arrangement, information retrieval, collaboration, and enhancing critical writing. The tool's role in diversifying perspectives and improving the completeness of critical writing is also emphasized. The study provides valuable insights into the multifaceted contributions of Google Gemini to critical writing enhancement.

Blockchain-based access control mechanisms have the potential to significantly enhance the security and privacy of electronic health record systems. Electronic health data, vital for diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and medical accident investigation, must be protected to ensure its integrity and availability. This requires preserving the accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of this critical information within the healthcare ecosystem. Blockchain technology offers substantial potential for authenticating and preserving the integrity of access to electronic health data. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based access control framework for electronic health record systems. This framework allows individuals to manage their digital identities in accordance with Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) principles. It uses attribute-based access control (ABAC) to safeguard the privacy and security of electronic health data. The framework is designed to protect electronic health data during user access and employs Hyperledger Indy and Hyperledger Aries for sovereignty, with the Open Policy Agent (OPA) utilized for access control.

Data analytics personalize treatments and improve outcomes in a fast-changing digital world. The infusion of digital technologies into healthcare processes and workflows offers enhancements in areas such as flexibility, scalability, reliability, agility, cost-effectiveness, and the overall quality of healthcare services and operations. However, the heightened dependence on these digital advancements underscores the imperative for robust cybersecurity measures. Safeguarding patient data, healthcare systems, and infrastructure from potential cyber threats becomes paramount in ensuring the integrity and security of the healthcare ecosystem. This study addresses data security concerns in the health organization, a digital health system. This study aims to explore the connections between interdependence, uncertainty, knowledge, and security in the digital transformation of healthcare organizations. The data is collected from healthcare organization managers' responses based on a questionnaire. The gathered data is used to test six hypotheses. A comprehensive questionnaire with Likert-scale responses serves as our research instrument. Furthermore, SmartPLS is used for statistical analysis and validating structural and measurement frameworks. Path coefficients and boot-strap confidence intervals support the hypothesis that digital uncertainty understanding improves interdependence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. The findings indicate a strong positive relation between the healthcare organization's understanding of interdependence, uncertainty, and cybersecurity knowledge and its expenditures in cybersecurity solutions. This analysis shows that hypotheses H1, H3, and H4 significantly impact digital transformation security layers, with the greatest values (0.542), offering policymakers important information for improving digital resilience.

LLMs have demonstrated proficiency in contextualizing their outputs using human input, often matching or beating human-level performance on a variety of tasks. However, LLMs have not yet been used to characterize synergistic learning in students' collaborative discourse. In this exploratory work, we take a first step towards adopting a human-in-the-loop prompt engineering approach with GPT-4-Turbo to summarize and categorize students' synergistic learning during collaborative discourse. Our preliminary findings suggest GPT-4-Turbo may be able to characterize students' synergistic learning in a manner comparable to humans and that our approach warrants further investigation.

The phenomenon of compassion fatigue was not only encountered by healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, but was also experienced by students and teachers during online learning. Compassion fatigue refers to the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of helping others, which, if in excess, can result in burnout. Recent studies have indicated that online learning efficacy, in tandem with social and emotional learning, may mitigate the impact of compassion fatigue. Additionally, since pre-service teachers will be the future of education, it is essential for them to understand the underlying causes of compassion fatigue so that they can be better prepared for future situations. Anchoring on the social cognitive theory and motivation, data collected includes perceptions of social and emotional learning, online learning efficacy, optimism, pessimism, and resilience among pre-service teachers. Using a quantitative approach, a total of 356 pre-service teachers in Taiwan who studied online during the COVID-19 pandemic were surveyed. According to the findings, pre-service teachers experienced moderate to slight compassion fatigue throughout their online learning experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the findings also revealed moderate to high levels of social and emotional learning. Moreover, regression result shows that compassion fatigue is negatively related to pre-service teachers' resilience, while positively related to pessimism and online learning efficacy. The findings suggest that, contrary to expectations, higher levels of online learning efficacy were associated with increased compassion fatigue. As a consequence, it emphasizes the need for a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to compassion fatigue in online learning environment, encouraging educators and institutions to explore strategies that balance engagement without compromising well-being.
