In January 2022, Ecuador experienced a peak in COVID-19 cases, with 890,541 confirmed cases and 35,658 deaths. During 2019-2020, influenza and pneumonia also ranked among the top causes of death. Traditional chest X-rays and chest CT scans are commonly used for diagnosing COVID-19, but studies by Wong et al. indicate that chest Xrays are less sensitive compared to CT scans unless artificial intelligence is utilized. Tahir et al. highlighted that AI models such as U-net and neural networks achieve high diagnostic accuracy, with U-Net++ and ResNet18 models showing sensitivities above 99% and perfect specificity using a large dataset of 33,920 chest X-ray images. The rapid detection of symptoms could have helped in prioritizing critical care, potentially reducing deaths. In the current study, it is demonstrated that combining AI with chest X-rays can achieve a binary accuracy above 98% for COVID-19 detection using transfer learning with Xception, VGG16, and VGG19 neural networks. Using 27,052 chest X-ray images, the VGG19 model achieved an excellent F1-score of 98.53% for COVID-19 and normal class classification. The VGG19 model also performed well in multiclass classification with an F1-score above 89%. The study concludes that AI-enhanced diagnostic tools, such as VGG19, are valuable for hospitals in diagnosing COVID-19 and future improvements might include larger datasets and enhanced segmentation techniques.

Binary generators are devices responsible for delivering random or pseudo-random binary sequences, very useful in different branches such as cryptography, simulation, mathematics. These random chains must have high periods and high linear complexity and must also pass statistical tests to ensure that they are effectively random. The generator design process must take the above into account and must be verified at each stage for the final result to be successful. Sometimes the simple combination of poorly designed cryptographic components can lead to a faulty generator. This work shows the steps to follow for the successful development of a good generator. For the generator proposed in this presentation, eight nonlinear feedback shift registers (NLFSR) were used, which are cryptographic components with nonlinear Boolean filtering functions, which were combined by using five multiplexers. Finally, with the device obtained and operating with different keys, pseudorandom binary sequences were obtained that passed the randomness tests to which they were subjected.

This article describes the importance of developing sustainability strategies and practices in society and organizations. The approaches necessary to promote sustainability at various levels are elucidated through the study of scientific articles. The welfare of migrant workers in Mauritius in terms of their health and wellbeing is the main topic of this research. The aim of this study is to understand the health and wellbeing of migrant workers from a social work perspective through the application of the grounded theory. A qualitative approach was used to gather the data. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with twenty-two migrant workers from Bangladesh, Madagascar, Nepal, South Africa and India who have been employed and reside in Mauritius for more than one year. The respondents are employed in a variety of industries, including vegetable plantations, supermarkets, hotels, building sites, ICT & BPO, Communication and textile factories. This study adds to the body of knowledge on migrant workers' well-being by utilizing the Grounded Theory in Mauritius. The main findings of this research emanate from the application of the Grounded Theory and through the application of the Theoretical Coding which is a qualitative research approach. The findings were presented in terms of initial coding then identifying relationship between the different codes that have been generated and finally developing a re-fined theoretical concept as follows: "The Vulnerability Cycle of Migrant workers": This refined code was generated from the findings of this research by application of the Grounded Theory. It comprises of the different elements such as precarious employment, substandard living conditions, and inadequate healthcare that affect negatively the health and wellbeing of migrant workers working in Mauritius.

Real-time monitoring of the operational status of mechanical equipment is crucial in industrial production. The scarcity of fault data, the predominance of unlabeled monitoring data, and the complex and variable operational conditions have gradually become prominent, which limit the accuracy of diagnostic models and affect their effectiveness in new operational conditions. To address these issues, a domain adaptation fault diagnosis method based on a multi-scale feature adaptive ConvNeXt is proposed in this paper. By integrating multi-scale feature fusion, multi-spectral attention mechanisms, and feature adaptive selection modules, the method enhances the ConvNeXt network's capability to capture fault characteristics. It combines conditional domain adversarial techniques to align the cross-domain feature marginal and conditional distributions. Comparative experiments conducted on two bearing datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in addressing the challenge of sparse labeling under target operating conditions, enabling accurate assessments of the health status of mechanical equipment in target conditions.

Algorithm parameter tuning is an often neglected step in the optimization process. This study shows that constrained multiobjective optimization can benefit significantly from tuning, in both the specialized (for an individual problem) and generalized (over a number of problems) parameter setting approaches. Numerical experiments conducted with three multiobjective optimization algorithms on 139 test problems from 13 benchmark suites quantify the algorithm performance improvement on individual problems. Additionally, regarding the generalized approach, alternative default parameter settings are identified. The study also identifies Bayesian optimization as an adequate method for tuning multiobjective evolutionary algorithms with constraint handling. Overall, it is concluded that, given sufficient computational resources to apply to a problem, parameter tuning, using an approach such as Bayesian optimization, should be conducted. If computational resources do not allow such tuning, then the proposed default parameters are applicable.

In the context of smart grid security, this paper explores the integration of Federated Learning (FL) with eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques to address the dual challenges of data privacy and model interpretability. We employ a federated learning framework with a 3-hidden-layer neural network, trained on diverse smart grid datasets. Our approach includes comprehensive data preprocessing strategies, such as the removal of duplicates and handling of missing values, as well as the application of mutual information for rigorous feature selection. To tackle the opacity of complex machine learning models, we incorporate SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to elucidate the decision-making processes, enhancing transparency and trust. The model's effectiveness is validated through improved performance metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores, across different data distributions. Our results underscore the potential of combining FL with SHAP to enhance the interpretability and reliability of AI applications in energy systems, highlighting significant implications for real-world deployments where both security and privacy are paramount.

Algebraic interpolation method is widely used in almost all CAE tools because of its high computing efficiency and well meshing uniformity. Firstly, the advantages and disadvantages of transfinite mapping method are given, according to the disadvantages, a segmental-based transfinite mapping method is prompted, which is of great value for engineering analysis. Secondly, the computing methods of node in Parametric Domain and Physical Domain are described, Finally the reliability and quality of the prompted method are confirmed by comparing with other CAE toos. This method has been applied in thermo-structural coupling analysis for axis-symmetrical components of aero-engine, Results show that the prompted method is effective, reliable and fully meets the needs of FEM.

Since supply chains have become complex and tracking a product's journey, from raw materials to the end of it's life has become more difficult. Consumers are demanding greater transparency about the materials origins and environmental impact of the products they buy. These new requirements, togeher with European Commission Green Deal strategy, lead to the concept of digital product passport (DPP). DPP could be seen as an instrument to boost circularity, however the DPP architecture and governance model still undefined and unclear. Data Governance in the context of the DPP acts as the backbone for ensuring accurate and reliable data within these "passports" or data models, leading to flawless traceability. This article approaches the DPPs and it's governance challenges, explaining how they function as digital repositories for a product's life cycle information and the concept of Data Governance. By understanding how these two concepts work together, we will explore a short use case within the footwear industry to show how DPP governance architecture might work in a distributed environment.

Accurate navigation capabilities can help escort robots interact better with *** navigation algorithms are usually used in static environments. When dynamic objects appear in indoor environments, the matching of dynamic points on the object can interfere with the camera pose and leave stains on the map. Although semantic segmentation methods can remove potential dynamic objects, dynamic objects will not be detected for some movable objects, such as books held by humans. In this regard,a Dynamic SLAM framework based on human Contact Experience (CE-DSLAM) is proposed for escort robots. This framework effectively adapts to indoor dynamic settings and can predict the actual status of certain movable objects based on contact experience. We assume that the movement of movable objects is caused by humans, and propose an adaptive frame strategy for detecting human masks. For information from multiple consecutive frames, we use effective contact to update the prior level of indoor movable objects. This article first assigns an initial level to all indoor objects based on human experience, and enters the adaptive frame thread based on whether a person's mask is detected or not. Then, the dynamic level of indoor movable objects is updated based on the experience of contact between humans and movable objects. When the next frame of the image arrives, the high dynamic level feature points will be removed, and the remaining static points will be used for localization. We evaluated CE-DSLAM on the TUM RGB-D dataset and compared it with the DynaSLAM system in a dynamic environment. The experimental results indicate that CE-DSLAM can operate stably in dynamic environments and can be well applied in indoor environments.
