We study a large-scale dial-a-ride system considering around 300, 000 dynamic requests. An efficient routing algorithm is crucial to guaranteeing the viability of the system. Large-scale requests are assumed to be dominated by daily commuting needs and thus should exhibit similar mobility patterns from one day to another. Consequently, daily vehicle trajectories should also be recurring if similar requests can be served in the same manner. We introduce a greedy insertion algorithm integrating a Guided Insertion Mechanism that learns insertion patterns from reference resolution to enhance the operational efficiency of the underlined systems while maintaining high-quality solutions.

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) play a critical role in the economic growth and innovation of any nation. Despite their importance, SMEs often face significant challenges that hinder their innovation processes, including financial limitations and restricted access to information and technology. Additionally, understanding how open innovation practices can sustain competitive advantages in fast-evolving global markets is essential. This study investigates the innovation capabilities in South African SMEs, focusing on their relative importance in driving innovation, highlighting their multifaceted approach to drive innovation and remain competitive. A survey of 220 South African SMEs evaluated 19 innovation capabilities across 8 dimensions using a 5-point Likert scale. Principal component analysis identified five key factor groupings: risk management, customer acquisition, knowledge management, business networks, and innovation/product enhancement. The findings reveal that SMEs strategically manage risks, leverage customer insights, and cultivate networks to enhance their innovation capabilities, thereby positioning themselves as competitive players. By pinpointing the primary drivers of innovation, this study proposes strategies to strengthen these capabilities in the dynamic global economic landscape.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), with their remarkable capabilities in learning graph features, have achieved success in graph classification tasks. However, the Message Passing GNNs (MP-GNNs), sharing the feature aggregation mechanism with the 1-Weisfeiler-Leman (1-WL) graph isomorphism test, suffer from limited expressiveness in downstream tasks, such as graph classification. To enhance the expressive power of GNNs, we propose a substructure-aware and high expressive graph neural network model. Firstly, Ego substructures are extracted from a graph and fed into a MP-GNN to obtain substructure-level features. Then, a count-sensitive neighborhood hashing method is introduced to encode the structural characteristics of Ego substructures, which are then injected into the corresponding substructure-level features to enhance the model's expressiveness. Next, an Ego-substructure-aware Transformer is utilized to extract global features from the graph, which use a token to fuse the interaction information among graphs' nodes, thereby generating graph-level feature vector. Finally, we apply a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) followed by a softmax layer to classify graphs. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that the proposed SHGNN ismore powerful than 1-WL test. Experimental results show that, compared to the state-of-the-art graph deep learning methods, our model not only outperforms 1-WL in expressiveness, but also achieves higher classification accuracy.

The evolution of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) enabled the emergence of traffic management applications, with the aim to enhance the traffic flow and ease the congestion by monitoring the traffic. However, the efficiency of these applications resides on the accuracy of the shared traffic information. Accordingly, trust management models are applied to secure the Vehicular Ad-hoc NETwork (VANET) and to assess the reliability of the data shared within the vehicular network. In this paper, we propose a proof-of-concept of the trust framework proposed in [2]. The main objective is to observe the utility of applying trust management models to the intelligent transportation systems. The simulation results show that deploying trust-based Smart Road Signs (SRSs) helps to alleviate the traffic congestion around junctions by displaying the traffic state to users and offering them the opportunity to take alternative roads.

The present article performs short-term electricity demand prediction using deep learning tools for the Ecuadorian electrical system, specifically in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. The prediction was carried out using two neural network models: Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Fully Connected Neural Network (FCNN). Additionally, exogenous variables such as temperature and relative humidity were incorporated. Historical data of exogenous variables were obtained from the NASA POWER vertical bar DAVe website with the aim of exploring the relationship between these variables and energy consumption. Subsequently, data processing was conducted, and both neural networks were trained. The results indicate robustness in electricity demand prediction for both architectures;however, the LSTM network exhibits significantly higher accuracy, evidenced by a Coefficient of Determination (R-2) of 0.986 compared to FCNN. These findings suggest that LSTM has an enhanced capacity to model and anticipate electricity demand, as it considers the correlation with exogenous variables that affect electricity consumption.

More and more emphasis is allocated to production job scheduling by the modern organizations in order to preserve their performance indicators stable. This research addresses the dynamic scheduling of jobs in a production system with a single input queue and parallelmachines. The processing times and the times between job arrivals are assumed probabilistic. Jobs belong to different classes and a due date is assigned to each job at the time of its arrival. A machine needs to be setup every time it switches production from some job class to another. In this article, is considered a set of alternative priority rules for dynamic job scheduling using discrete-event simulation. The priority heuristics are compared in respect to several performance metrics in a series of simulation experiments. The behaviour of the scheduling heuristics is assessed under the influence of various parameters. Moreover, are offered managerial insights for scheduling decisions in industry based on the numerical results.

This research analyzes the textual content of emergency calls that arrive at command and control centers to classify them according to their priority. The aim is to respond promptly and make appropriate decisions in situations that require immediate attention. Text mining techniques construct a computational model with preprocessing techniques such as tokenization, case folding, and stop words removal. The calls are then represented using Word Embeddings with the Skip-Gram architecture to obtain word vectorization, and the Clustering algorithm is applied for classification. The results show an improvement in classification accuracy, achieving 95% precision in classification tests using high and low-priority categories and 81% in classification tests using four alert categories. These techniques enhance the syntactic and semantic understanding of emergency calls and reduce the risk of loss of human life.

The security ensured by cryptographic protocols, in use today, would no longer be enough to thwart the malicious intentions of adversaries due to the advancement of quantum computers. Quantum algorithms like Shor's algorithm [1] and Grover's algorithm [2] have already been implemented, albeit on a much smaller scale system, to demonstrate their effects on currently used cryptographic standards. This has led to the development of post-quantum cryptographic schemes which can be categorised into one of lattice-based, code-based, hash-based, multivariate, or supersingular elliptic curve isogeny. Apart from classical adversaries, these cryptographic schemes needs to be robust against quantum adversaries. Hence, various standardization bodies (NIST [3], ETSI [4], etc.) have initiated research towards the development, implementation and deployment of post-quantum cryptographic standards. However, each of the standards considered individually has only a discrete set of criteria that do not help evaluate the post-quantum cryptographic algorithm from all perspectives. This motivated us to design an exhaustive, comprehensive and complete framework for quantum-attack resistance evaluation of a cryptographic algorithms. In this paper, we provide an ameliorated framework for standardizing post-quantum cryptographic algorithms comprised of an exhaustive, comprehensive, and complete set of criteria. These criteria have been complied with from the available standardization work. The framework is exhaustive because it comprises criteria corresponding to all the security notions. It is comprehensive because the framework includes criteria pertaining to both theoretical and implementation aspects. Since the framework put forth the criteria required for evaluating symmetric and asymmetric algorithms, it is considered to be complete. This ameliorated framework is the research contribution of this paper.

Code-mixed text is often used in multi-lingual countries, where people mix more than one language in a single statement to express their thoughts freely on online media platforms. However, the existing code-mixed datasets that are available are small in size and highly skewed towards the non-sarcastic class. The imbalanced data leads to poor predictive performance such as low F1 score when they are trained on machine-learning models. Thus, in this research, we make an attempt to correctly handle imbalanced Hindi-English (Hi-Eng) code-mixed data to detect sarcasm. The proposed approach uses hybrid oversampling technique (SMOTE-ENN) during 10 fold stratified cross validation. We experimented and performed comparative analysis on our proposed approach with five machine-learning models say Multinomial Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, Random Forest Tree and Extreme Gradient Boosting. The F1-score of the proposed approach was compared with the baseline approach. We observed that our proposed approach shows new insight into handling the imbalanced data.

The Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) paradigm has received considerable attention in the research and business community over the past fewyears. MaaS provides manufacturing resources and capabilities as service, available for utilization by organizations via a digital thread, allowing them to concentrate in their significant competencies. This literature review enriched with bibliometrics, aims to examine the current state of MaaS by analyzing selected and contemporary references from Scopus database. The analysis was conducted with the help of specialized bibliometrics software, and the quantitative results include annual trends, leading publications, journals and organizations, citation distributions, co-occurrence of keywords, and journal co-citations. In addition, the publications have been classified according to the methodologies implemented for the data collection and analysis, their objectives, the results obtained, as well as their contribution to the field of manufacturing. This study sheds light on the status and trends in the field ofMaaS and has the potential to aid researchers in forming their research agenda and advancing their work on this topic.
