Cloud presence in optical satellite imagery poses significant challenges for various earth observation tasks. During training, this work utilized a mamba-based conditional GAN for optical satellite cloud removal by leveraging paired Sentinel-2 images (one containing clouds and the other cloud-free). State space model based mamba block helps in better pixel relation extraction. The proposed model exploits spatial and spectral correlations across multiple bands to reconstruct cloud-covered areas accurately. By utilizing cloud-unaffected spectral bands and optimizing loss functions for detail preservation, our approach achieves high-quality cloud-free reconstructions, outperforming traditional cloud-removal techniques. This method enhances optical data's temporal availability and quality, enabling more consistent and accurate analysis in various remote sensing applications. Our curated dataset can be shared for future research.

As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand rapidly, securing these interconnected devices and networks from cyber threats has become a critical challenge. This research investigates the application of machine learning techniques for accurately classifying IoT network traffic data to discriminate between benign activities and various types of cyber-attacks targeting IoT systems. We propose a program that employs multiple machine learning algorithms, including Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes, and Random Forest, trained on a comprehensive IoT network traffic dataset the CICIoTDataset2023. Through extensive experiments, we evaluate the performance of these classification models in detecting different IoT attack categories such as web-based attacks, spoofing, denial-of-service, Mirai, reconnaissance, distributed denial-of-service, and brute force attacks. Our results demonstrate the efficacy of machine learning approaches, with the Random Forest algorithm emerging as the top performer, achieving an overall accuracy of 98.41%. We also address challenges like class imbalance through hybrid sampling techniques and implement strategies like regularization and hyperparameter tuning to mitigate overfitting and enhance model generalization. Additionally, we conduct a performance analysis of the classification models on different IoT attack categories to gain insights into their specific strengths and weaknesses. By leveraging machine learning for accurate IoT attack classification, this research contributes to developing robust security solutions that can proactively identify and mitigate cyber threats, enabling a more secure IoT ecosystem. The findings pave the way for safeguarding interconnected devices, protecting user privacy, and fostering confidence in the widespread adoption of IoT technologies.

Multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) and path planning are crucial for optimizing the performance of multi-robot systems. Effective task assignment can enhance system efficiency and minimize conflicts during path planning. To address MRTAand path planning in complex environments, this paper introduces a method that combines an improved genetic algorithm (IGA) with conflict-based search (CBS). First, the MRTA problem is modeled as a multiple traveling salesman problem (MTSP). K-means clustering is then applied to partition the task points into clusters, transforming the MTSP into multiple TSPs to reduce the problem's dimensionality. Next, the IGA is used to solve each TSP, obtaining a high-quality traversal order without considering robot path conflicts. Finally, the CBS is used to solve the multi-agent path finding (MAPF) problem, obtaining conflict-free paths for multiple robots that satisfy the traversal sequence constraints. The simulation results demonstrate that the IGA-CBS effectively handles the MRTA and path planning problems in complex environments.

Children with visual impairment (VI) face significant challenges in experiencing inclusive play due to limited accessibility to games. This study explores how Voice User Interfaces (VUIs), specifically Amazon's Alexa, can facilitate inclusive play experiences among visually impaired and sighted children. We conducted contextual inquiry studies and a series of co-design workshops with special educators and students with mixed visual abilities, identifying key challenges and deriving opportunities for game design on VUI. We shared a game prototype demonstrating a dynamic and inclusive play experience with a VUI in a low-resource environment. Through evaluation and testing, design insights and challenges are shared with the game development community, which will help them to develop accessible games relevant to Indian schools.

Current pharmaceutical last-mile delivery systems often rely on outdated manual processes and paper-based documentation, leading to significant inefficiencies and security vulnerabilities. This paper proposes a comprehensive framework that leverages smart contracts, blockchain technology, and crowdsourcing to enhance the traceability and security of pharmaceutical deliveries. By utilizing blockchain, the framework automates order processing, tracking, and delivery, ensuring a transparent and tamper-proof record of each transaction. Additionally, the framework incorporates a flexible, crowd-sourced model for selecting carriers through a competitive bidding mechanism, improving efficiency and responsiveness. Our research includes a site visit to a drug distribution company to analyze the existing delivery process and identify critical issues. Based on these insights, we developed a solution that integrates digital and physical tracking measures, such as reusable drug packaging with sensors. The solution was tested locally in a simulated blockchain environment to validate its functionality. The paper emphasizes the need for tailored studies to address international regulatory differences and ethical implications in implementing a blockchain-based pharmaceutical delivery system. This approach not only simplifies the delivery process but also ensures enhanced visibility, reliability, and accountability across the supply chain.

Based on the financial data of domestic A-share listed firms from 2000 to 2022, this paper aims to explore the effectiveness of machine learning in identifying the financial risk of Chinese A-share listed manufacturing firms. To this end, a variety of machine learning models, including logistic regression, decision tree, random forest, XGBoost, SVM, and LSTM, are used to assess the financial risk of enterprises, and the key attributes of enterprise financial risk are extracted through the interpretability exploration and importance coefficient measurement. From this paper, the following conclusions are drawn: (i) XGBoost model performs the best on all attributes, showing its strong ability in dealing with complex financial datasets, and LSTM, which adds time-series factors, performs poorly, which is speculated that it may be related to the incompatibility of the characteristics of the financial data, the reliance on the time-series features, and the need for financial fine features. (ii) Audit opinion, Net Profit and ROA are key influencing factors.

UAVs are nodes that can fly autonomously or can be operated remotely. The clustering of UAVs forms what is known as a FANET network. In a FANET the nodes mobility is much higher than in a MANET which results in more frequently changes in the network topology. Consequently, the broadcasting of packets are also expected to be executed more frequently which can cause redundancy, contention, and collision of packets, also known as the Broadcast Storm Problem (BSP). In this work, we propose the integration of artificial intelligence techniques to the analysis of the retransmission packets in a FANET. In this regard, various models commonly used in telecommunications networks were trained. As a result, an AI-based protocol that reduces the BSP problem is presented. Specifically, the AI-based protocol selects between two hybrid BSP reduction models. The results show that the proposal is meaningful in achieving greater efficiency in the retransmissions savings and thus in the energy consumption.

This work presents a bibliographic review on sustainability indicators for tourist destinations, using the Scopus database to identify pertinent papers. A comprehensive statistical analysis is carried out using the Scopus online analysis tool and the VOSviewer software. The analysis includes 321 scientific papers published from 2001 to 2024. A citation analysis reveals the temporal evolution of publications and subject areas studied over this period, identifying distinct time periods and a noteworthy surge in relevant publications in recent years. Additionally, co-citation analysis unveil the organizational structure of the scientific field, highlighting networks and groupings that constitute the knowledge base in tourism sustainability. Moreover, a co-occurrence term analysis determines the conceptual structure and anticipates future cognitive trends in this discipline.

While Industrial Edge AI applications are deployed at different devices, such as local clusters of computers, gateways, IoT devices and fog nodes, Embedded AI focuses on the deployment of AI algorithms in embedded units with limited computing resources, such as microcontrollers (MCUs). The increase of computational power, the decrease of the cost of the hardware, and the development of less computation intensive AI models is fostering new opportunities to integrate embedded devices into Industrial Edge AI applications. This paper proposes an MCU based architecture and network for a low-cost monitoring of non-critical industrial environments. These MCUs both (1) monitor and perform a preliminary analysis of collected data with embedded AI, and (2) send data to edge devices with more computational power executing AI algorithms. The paper proposes an architecture for this MCU based network to lay the foundation of extensive industrial environmental monitoring where AI algorithms could for example, enhance workers safety, optimize processes, and improve maintenance operations. The technological viability of the network has been validated with a testbed where different MCUs (based on Arduino and ESP32) capture temperature and humidity data and send it to a more powerful edge device. Successful results prove the viability of the approach and foster further validations within real industrial scenarios.

Humans with cognitive ability are able to identify pertinent characteristics in other people's discussions easily and respond to conversations containing characteristics that already belong to a certain person. However, utilizing personality information for personalized response generation remains a non-trivial task. The system must consider both the user's conversation history and personality description, posing challenges for coherent model training. In this work, we meticulously design a feature-prompted learning-based dialog generator. This innovative tool primarily harnesses personality description data and dialog history to generate responses. FPLGen uses a clustering mechanism to organize personality description texts into distinct, sparsely populated categories. These categories are merged with historical contextual information and transformed via conditional variational autoencoders. The system incorporates our unique information enhancement and feature-prompted learning strategies, enabling comprehensive dialog synthesis. To validate our model's efficacy, we conducted experiments on the Chinese persona chat dataset. The results, compared to baseline models, provide irrefutable evidence that our FPLGen model excels at producing richer, more engaging personalized responses.
