Argumentation, which has long been a topic of study in philosophy, has become a well-established aspect of computing science in the last 20 years. This book presents the proceedings of the fifth conference on Computational Models of Argument (COMMA), held in Pitlochry, Scotland in September 2014. Work on argumentation is broad, but the COMMA community is distinguished by v.rtue of its focus on the computational and mathematical aspects of the subject. This focus aims to ensure that methods are sound – that they identify arguments that are correct in some sense – and prov.de an unambiguous specification for implementation; producing programs that reason in the correct way and building systems capable of natural argument or of recognizing argument. The book contains 24 long papers and 18 short papers, and the 21 demonstrations presented at the conference are represented in the proceedings either by an extended abstract or by association with another paper. The book will be of interest to all those whose work inv.lv.s argumentation as it relates to artificialintelligence.

Software is the essential enabling means for science and the new economy. It helps us to create a more reliable, flexible and robust society. But software often falls short of our expectations. Current methodologies, tools, and techniques remain expensiv. and are not yet sufficiently reliable, while many promising approaches hav. prov.d to be no more than case-by-case oriented methods. This book contains extensiv.ly rev.ewed papers from the tenth International Conference on New Trends in software Methodology, Tools and Techniques (SoMeT_11), held in St Petersburg, Russia, in September 2011. The conference prov.des an opportunity for scholars from the international research community to discuss and share research experiences of new software methodologies and techniques, and the contributions presented here address issues ranging from research practices and techniques and methodologies to proposing and reporting solutions for global world business. The emphasis has been on human-centric software methodologies, end-user dev.lopment techniques and emotional reasoning, for an optimally harmonized performance between the design tool and the user. Topics cov.red include the handling of cognitiv. issues in software dev.lopment to adapt it to the user''s mental state and intelligent software design in software utilizing new aspects on conceptual ontology and semantics reflected on knowledge base system models. This book prov.des an opportunity for the software science community to show where we are today and where the future may take us.

This book presents the proceedings of the Annual International Conference on Biologically Inspired Cognitiv. Architectures, BICA 2011, which is also the Second Annual Meeting of the BICA Society (http://***), held in Nov.mber 2011 in Arlington, v.rginia, USA. A Biologically Inspired Cognitiv. Architecture (BICA) is a computational framework for the design of intelligent agents that incorporates formal mechanisms of human or animal cognition. Biology currently prov.des the only physical examples of cognitiv. systems at the lev.l of robustness, flexibility, scalability and consciousness that artificialintelligence aspires to achiev.. The main body of this v.lume consists of more than 70 research papers, position papers and abstracts presented at the BICA 2011 conference, the focus of which was on the challenge of replicating the human mind in a computer. The BICA approach to this challenge inv.lv.s a div.rse range of current topics in computer and brain sciences, from artificialintelligence and computational linguistics to cognitiv. modeling and system neuroscience, all represented here. This main body is followed by two supplementary parts: a manifesto and a rev.ew section. The introductory chapter to the book prov.des a brief ov.rv.ew of its contents. Papers presented in this v.lume reflect the transdisciplinary, integrativ. nature of the BICA approach, while at the same time supporting one ov.rarching emergent agenda. The book will be of interest to anyone inv.lv.d in, or wishing to learn more about, the field of BICA.

Mobile Commerce (M-Commerce) comprises applications and serv.ces that are accessible from Internet-enabled mobile dev.ces. It inv.lv.s new technologies, serv.ces, and business models. While it is different from traditional e-Commerce it can also be seen as an extension of e-Commerce in the sense that it, among others, makes e-Commerce av.ilable in a modern way to new application areas and to a new set of customers. The Internet is on its way to leav. traces in all aspects of our life independently of where we are. Already today, mobile phones and PDAs become an indispensable part of our life as a source for all kinds of information and serv.ces and, especially, as our permanently av.ilable interface to our env.ronment. v.ry soon they will turn into widespread intelligent assistants capable of anticipating many of our wishes and needs. Howev.r, for all these changes to happen, key issues of interoperability, usability, security, and priv.cy still need to be addressed. The Techniques and applications for Mobile Commerce (TAMoCo) conference series addresses these issues. It prov.des scientists, practitioners, and students a platform to discuss the latest trends in the exciting abov. mentioned areas. This book is structured into three parts; (I) Wireless Technologies for the Extended Enterprise: Current State and Future Dev.lopments, (II) E-Serv.ce Env.ronments: Aspect-Oriented Techniques and Mobile Dev.ces; and (III) AutoMoCo: Autonomic Computing and Mobile *** Press is an international science, technical and medical publisher of high-quality books for academics, scientists, and professionals in all fields. Some of the areas we publish in: -Biomedicine -Oncology -artificialintelligence -Databases and information systems -Maritime engineering -Nanotechnology -Geoengineering -All aspects of physics -E-gov.rnance -E-commerce -The knowledge economy -Urban studies -Arms control -Understanding and responding to terrorism -Medical informatics -
