In recent years, the manufacturing industry has sought to adapt its strategy by including services in its offerings, known as servitization. In this context, service design can be seen as a competitive advantage in the market, as it is considered an agent of transformation and innovation whose objective is to create efficient and effective experiences that meet the needs of users and organizations. However, the intangible nature of services can be a limitation when it comes to visualizing how design, which normally works with tangible aspects, can help in the development of services. Therefore, this article proposes to advance the understanding of service design and its pillars to show and discuss how this topic is currently treated in the servitization literature. Our findings point to a misalignment in service design, identifying a paradoxical understanding of its pillars, which limits its growth in the servitization literature. Finally, we propose questions that could guide future research to deepen the study of service design.

technology development practices in many low-income countries result in less-than-optimal outcomes for their intended beneficiaries. information and communication Technologies for Development projects aim to mitigate such inefficiencies and inequities. One means is through knowledge sharing, and its encompassing functions: knowledge transfer and knowledge translation. The practices may have unintended detrimental consequences, which we scrutinize through the lens of information ethics. We present examples from an Emergency Medicine project in the Democratic Republic of Congo to explore the ethical imperatives associated with enabling access to information and the need for knowledge translation. Findings from three focus group discussions are presented that draw attention to moral obligations of agents engaging in knowledge sharing, and the importance of addressing information ethics in related initiatives.

This study explores the adoption of blockchain for FinTech applications in the banking industry in developing countries to understand the perceptions and identify use cases and factors affecting the adoption. Thematic analysis was performed on data collected through semi-structured interviews across four banking-related firms. Results suggest a lack of understanding and FinTech perceptions negatively associated with Bitcoin. It is proposed that through further education and implementation of working production-grade use cases, the perception will improve. Several use cases were identified, with Real-Time Gross Settlement as the most prevalent. Based on the technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) model particularised, 13 factors were found to affect the adoption positively or negatively. Theoretical insights gained about TOE suggest the issue of similar factors designated using different terminologies across different related studies.

The additive manufacturing (AM) applications using collaborative robots (cobot) are rapidly increasing in the manufacturing field. The integration of AM with a cobot abilities can help prototyping and manufacturing custom-made parts in a more efficient way. This paper relies on manufacturing cell that combines a fused deposition modeling (FDM) extruder with a 6-axis cobot controlled by IoT edge computing devices. The production processes are designed in a robot simulation software, where digital twin (DT) of the manufacturing cell is available. Direct and reverse communication between the simulation software and the physical manufacturing cell allows for implementing the real industrial cases. The manufacturing cell has been tested to demonstrate the viability of replacing traditional 3D printers in the industrial sector while taking advantage of working in a complex and dynamic environment. According to this approach this paper promotes the enlargement of the set of robot-abilities by adding additive manufacturing capabilities.

Subtractive manufacturing systems, specifically, computer numerical control machines, have revolutionized the manufacturing industry. Computer numerical control machining is the preferred method for producing finished parts due to its efficiency, speed and suitability for high-volume production. Securing computer numerical control machines is a priority. Compromises or disruptions of these machines can result in significant downtime, loss of productivity and financial loss. This study examines the vulnerabilities and risks associated with computer numerical control machines, in particular, systems utilizing the LBP16 protocol for controller-machine communications. The study reveals that an adversary can execute cyber-physical attacks such as sabotage and denial of service. The potential security threats emphasize the importance of implementing robust security measures to mitigate the cyber risks to computer numerical control machines.

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the comprehensive project management field is revolutionizing the landscape of nowadays organizations. This paper explores the transformative role of AI in reshaping the responsibilities and functions of project managers. Pharmaceutical industries play an integral role in our society as their primary purpose is to provide products that enhance human health and well-being. Due to its intrinsic activities, the impact of the healthcare sector on the environment is consequent. However, the preservation of our environment is a prerequisite to ensure human health resilience. The circular economy (CE) is a model of production and consumption aimed to preserve the environment. The CE principles, such as "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" [1, 2] are required in an expanding world where resources are limited [3], and the generation of waste increases each year. Considering the size of the pharmaceutical sector in the global economy and the fact that less than 10% of our economy is circular [4], it is essential to implement the concept of circularity to limit the tremendous resource consumption. Nevertheless, most of the work that has been done in this area focuses on a few specific steps of drug and medical device development processes [5, 6], creating room for implementation opportunities. The goal of this paper is to provide a mapping of the research that has been done in the field of CE, related to the pharmaceutical sector. As circularity is driven by design, this paper focuses on the whole value chain of pharmaceutical products, from raw material extraction to the end of life. The findings of this study are categorized regarding product life-cycle steps. This allows the identification of current research trends and opportunities for future research and potential circular solutions.

Studies show that despite the abundance of research to inform clinical practice, many patients do not receive Evidence-based healthcare, especially in Low-income countries. This study assessed factors that doctors consider important with respect to therapeutical information and medical knowledge when making decisions about patient treatment in the context of Evidence-based medicine (EBM). EBM emphasizes the importance of integrating patients' values and current research findings when formulating care strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce medical errors. Following an interpretive paradigm through information behavior lens, the study utilized interviews and examination of artifacts to gather data from purposively selected participants at a tertiary public hospital in Malawi. Findings revealed significant challenges, including;absence of Hospital-wide information systems, lack of time, high disease burden, insufficient tools, and political factors. There are opportunities however, such as online medical libraries and state-of-the-art medical schools that can contribute to the development and implementation of EBM.

Despite the availability of detection tools and the automation of cyber security tasks, analysts are in demand because they can perform complex security investigations to identify and assess threats. Due to the shortage of expert analysts, it is necessary to employ systems that simplify and speed up security tasks. A promising solution is to employ recommender systems such as those used to enable shoppers to navigate enormous amounts of heterogeneous data in online marketplaces. This chapter describes a recommender system for incident response. The system recognizes seven analyst intentions during the investigative process and provides appropriate recommendations for an analyst's next actions based on his/her most probable objectives. The recommender system is evaluated using four experiments and five datasets. The results demonstrate the validity of the model and the relevance of the recommendations, an important first step towards recommendations based on analyst intention recognition during incident response.

This paper presents the AI-driven Contradiction Navigator (AICON), a tool engineered to address the inherent limitations of the traditional TRIZ Contradiction Matrix. By integrating advanced AI technologies, AICON enhances the identification, mapping, and resolution of contradictions with advanced precision and context sensitivity. Central to its architecture is the incorporation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) AI, enabling the system to access and utilize diverse knowledge domains dynamically. This capability allows AICON to identify new inventive principles and effectively cover previously unaddressed areas within the TRIZ matrix. The system's architecture is designed to facilitate AI-driven data enrichment, adaptive contradiction mapping, and tailored solution generation, all within an iterative learning framework that continuously refines its problem-solving efficacy. Preliminary research outcomes highlight AICON's success in discovering novel inventive principles and expanding the TRIZ matrix's applicability with contextually relevant solutions. These advancements underline AICON's potential to improve inventive problem-solving methodologies.
