Robust data privacy is crucial for mitigating financial, legal, and reputational risks in organizations. While legislative frameworks like the EU GDPR mandate comprehensive data protection measures, integrating these into information systems presents significant challenges. Privacy Patterns (PP) aim to bridge this gap by translating legal requirements into actionable data protection strategies, yet their effectiveness in practical scenarios is not well-documented. This study explores the applicability, effectiveness, and limitations of PP in the collaborative development and operation of an AI-driven ecosystem aimed at automating the handling of legal declarations to enforce consumer rights.

When one considers the journey from Operator 4.0 (O4.0) to Operator 5.0 (O5.0), given the current evolution of the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) investments in many manufacturing firms today, there appears to be no clear pathway towards O5.0. One therefore wonders if such a pathway is for example shorter, longer, faster, slower, etc. for workers in firms of different characteristics, e.g. size, resources, I4.0 maturity, etc. And if so, what does the operator's journey from O4.0 to O5.0 look like? This study therefore aimed to examine what the path to Industry 5.0 (I5.0) demands of an Operator 4.0 in the human-centered manufacturing environment. An in-depth case study was implemented to assess the antecedents, enablers, and barriers for shop floor workers in the transition from Operator 4.0 to Operator 5.0. The results showthat the motivation of operators to co-evolve their skills either under or over the I4.0 maturity level of the firm is enabled by the type of leadership style, and strategic orientation of the firm on one hand, or is inhibited by the leaders and organizational culture on the other hand. The study concludes that the development path of theworker from O4.0 to O5.0, especially the human-centricity dimension, is still greatly underdeveloped in both practice and theory.

To cope with market unpredictability and uncertainty, manufacturing industries should be able to rapidly adapt their manufacturing systems to be more responsive to market changes. Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS) offer an alternative to traditional manufacturing systems. They can rapidly reconfigure and readapt their capability and functionality to meet new requirements without the need to start from scratch. RMS are complex systems and a critical phase in their implementation involves their design. We propose a new constraint programming approach to minimize the total investment cost of a multi-part flow line configuration. The approach was implemented and tested on a literature case study. The results show the ability of the method to find an optimal solution in few seconds for a small instance.

In the realm of Trusted Computing for embedded systems, ensuring the integrity of both firmware and hardware presents a complex challenge. Traditional approaches have focused on detecting firmware and operating system (OS) software manipulations, leaving a gap in the identification of subtle hardware modifications and attacks. This paper extends previous work on hardware fingerprinting for remote attestation by conducting and analyzing comprehensive long-term hardware measurements. Building upon the established methodology, we examine the correlation between environmental parameters and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) values to gain suitable reference values for remote attestation procedures. Our work introduces significant contributions: the implementation of two distinct test setups for enhanced hardware fingerprinting, a rigorous evaluation of these measurements to identify strong correlations, the development of a standardized log format for hardware measurements aimed at adoption by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), and the application to Trusted Platform Module TPM based measured boot and remote attestation. In summary, we integrate hardware manipulation detection with the TPM, and lay the groundwork for a more secure and reliable computing environment in embedded systems.

Data transmission and interaction in a network can not be separated from the digital signatures. In recent years, Ed25519 algorithm has attracted extensive attention for its "High-speed and High-security" features. However, as shown by some test data, the performance of Ed25519, especially in terms of signature verification, remains unsatisfactory. Therefore, we improved the algorithm of Ed25519 batch verification in all three layers of elliptic curve arithmetic. We put forward a new point structure called PointPuff to accelerate the point-checking and point add processes, improve the traditional elliptic curve multi-scalar multiplication operation, and design a new finite-field large integer multiplication operation. In our test, the optimized batch verification performance was 50.04% higher than the existing algorithm, which was consistent with the theoretical analysis and within the error range.

This article introduces a conceptual model that integrates multilayered agility into Production Planning and Control (PPC), addressing the urgent need for manufacturing firms to adapt to the unpredictable challenges of the 21st-century marketplace. Grounded in the dynamic capabilities theory, our model synergizes organizational, operational, and personal-workforce agility layers within the PPC framework to enhance manufacturing efficiency in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Through a comprehensive literature review, we identify gaps in the operationalization of agility in PPC and propose a structured approach to its integration. Our model offers a novel perspective on embedding agility into PPC, aiming to provide a roadmap for manufacturing firms to achieve operational excellence and a sustainable competitive advantage. The anticipated benefits of this model include improved responsiveness to market changes, enhanced operational flexibility, and a stronger innovation capability, paving the way for future empirical research in agile manufacturing.

This paper presents an evaluation of the red team automation tool Lore in two live-fire cyber defense exercises (CDX). During the CDXs, Lore and manual "red" teams subjected 72 network security analysts (i.e., defenders;the "blue" side) to various threats such as software exploits and shell commands. Ten hypotheses related to how the actions by manual red teams and Lore are perceived and managed by the security analysts are examined. Evaluations were made by studying the subjective judgements of the analysts and by comparing the objective ground truth to their submitted incident reports. The results show that none of the null hypotheses could be rejected. In other words, the security analysts could not tell the difference between the actions made by the manual red team and those made by Lore, and their performance was similar regardless of the source of the threats.

In Search and Rescue (SAR) missions, the integration of multiple sources of information may enhance operational efficiency and increase responsiveness significantly, improving situation awareness and aiding decision-making to save lives and mitigate incident impact. Ontologies are crucial for integrating and reasoning with data from diverse sources. Engineering a domain ontology for SAR can be better supported from an agile, collaborative, and iterative ontology engineering methodology (OEM), incorporating the interests of several stakeholders. Large Language Models (LLMs) can play a significant role in completing OEM processes. The goal of thiswork is to identify howontology engineering (OE) tasks can be completed with the collaboration of LLMs and humans. The objectives of this paper are, a) to present preliminary exploration of LLMs to generate domain ontologies for the modeling of SAR missions in wildfire incidents b) to propose and evaluate an LLM-enhanced OE approach. In overall, the main contribution of the work presented in this paper is the analysis of LLMs capabilities to ontology engineering, and the evaluation of the synergy between humans and machines to efficiently represent knowledge, with specific focus in the SAR domain.

In production planning and control, discrete-event simulation (DES) is commonly used to address optimization challenges. DES using simgen generally begins with data preprocessing, parameterization, and experiment design. However, due to the complexity of manufacturing environments, DES models require careful parameterization, with empirical experiments designed to ensure efficient execution. This parameterization involves optimizing parameter settings for different materials based on routing, bill-of-materials complexity, and other production process-related features. To achieve optimized parameterization within expected timeframes, reducing variant diversity to eliminate redundant materials is necessary by using data-driven approaches. In this study, to identify representative materials, a network-based approach with five community-detection algorithms is compared for their efficiency in execution time and efficient module detection by constructing bipartite networks of material and routing features for identifying similar material groups and representative materials. The results show that communities and subcommunities identify representative materials by significantly reducing the initial number of materials with a faster approach that can be used for DES parameterization.

This paper aims to present a decision-making support system for the efficient management of measuring equipment in Manufacturing plants, providing support for condition analysis and calibration interval definition, a missing functionality in current computerized systems. For the same equipment, existing methods for defining the calibration/verification interval give very different results. The proposed solution for management of measuring equipment includes a developed approach for the selection of the method that best suits the equipment, considering its characteristics and condition of use. Since unpredictable situations, such as falls, shocks or misuse can change the behavior of measuring equipment, an additional approach for unpredictable behavior identification is included, using EWMA and I-MR charts. The approaches were developed and tested with data of measuring equipment of a cork company. This solution brings cost savings to companies since, by helping to adjust calibration or verification intervals, allows avoiding the use of inapt equipment for quality control of manufactured products.
