Accountability has long been the subject of discussion within public administration. Especially given the potential privacy and security risks arising from rapidly changing usage of informationtechnology (IT), it can be useful to apply this notion also in the commercial world, relating to the actions of private organisations. However, accountability may be neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for trust. In order to provide an improved basis for trustworthiness via enhancing accountability, certain conditions need to be met. In this paper we elucidate what these conditions are and explain the related notion and importance of strong accountability. Further, we ground this analysis within the wider context of organisational ethical decision making. As a topical case in point we focus on the data protection area and the protection of personal data.

Influenced by the high dynamic of the markets and the steadily increasing demand for short delivery times the importance of supply chain optimization is growing. In particular, the order process plays a central role in achieving short delivery times and constantly needs to evaluate the trade-off between high inventory and the risk of stock-outs. However, analyzing different order strategies and the influence of various production parameters is difficult to achieve in industrial practice. Therefore, simulations of supply chains are used in order to improve processes in the whole value chain. The objective of this research is to evaluate two different order strategies (t, q, t, S) in a four-stage supply chain. In order to measure the performance of the supply chain the quantity of the backlog will be considered. A Design of Experiments approach is supposed to enhance the significance of the simulation results.

The paper aims to analyze multi-agent management structures in Small-Mid Enterprises (SME), such to investigate how collaborations among agents could be improved. A SME manager has generally to face with three issues: data management, organization of the production phases, interactions with mid-level management (denoted by "agents"). Data management is necessary in order to have a clear representation of the many types of data about products, orders and resources of the company. The organization of production phases consists on the management of the production process phases from design up to recycling. Based on a clear representation of the product life cycle, the manager will be able to organize the interactions between these agents (each one dedicated to handle a process phase) so as to facilitate the collaboration, and to make effective each mid-level management as far as it is concerned with controlling the operations to be carried out in each process phase. A model of the mid-layer multi-agent management negotiation, according to the "game theory" viewpoint, is proposed, and its main characters are analyzed, in view of its application.

Due to increasingly required flexibility in manufacturing systems, adaptation of monitoring and control to changing context such as reconfiguration of devices becomes more important. Referring to the usage of structured information on the Web, digital twin models of manufacturing data can be seen as knowledge graphs that constantly need to be aligned with the physical environment. With a growing number of smart devices participating in production processes, handling these alignments manually is no longer feasible. Yet, the growing availability of data coming from operations (e.g. process events) and contextual sources (e.g. equipment configurations) enables machine learning to synchronize data models with physical reality. Common knowledge graph learning approaches, however, are not designed to deal with both, static and time-dependent data. In order to overcome this, we introduce a representation learning model that shows promising results for the synchronization of semantics from existing manufacturing knowledge graphs and operational data.

Binary code fingerprinting is a challenging problem that requires an in-depth analysis of binary components for deriving identifiable signatures. Fingerprints are useful in automating reverse engineering tasks including clone detection, library identification, authorship attribution, cyber forensics, patch analysis, malware clustering, binary auditing, etc. In this paper, we present BINSIGN, a binary function fingerprinting framework. The main objective of BINSIGN is providing an accurate and scalable solution to binary code fingerprinting by computing and matching structural and syntactic code profiles for disassemblies. We describe our methodology and evaluate its performance in several use cases, including function reuse, malware analysis, and indexing scalability. Additionally, we emphasize the scalability aspect of BINSIGN. We perform experiments on a database of 6 million functions. The indexing process requires an average time of 0.0072 s per function. We find that BINSIGN achieves higher accuracy compared to existing tools.

To foster this transition an accurate simulation of energy production from renewable sources, such as Photovoltaic Panels (PV), is necessary to evaluate the impact on the grid. In this paper, we present a distributed infrastructure that simulates the PV production and evaluates the integration of such systems in the grid considering data provided by smart-meters. The proposed solution is able to model the behaviour of PV systems solution exploiting GIS representation of rooftops and real meteorological data. The purpose of this work is to envision the future of maintenance without forgetting the past and present of maintenance practices. Indeed, there is a big potential for maintenance, fostered by the promises of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. At the same time, there is still a widespread evidence of the state of practices leading to assert that maintenance is not yet advanced as it would be expected. Thus, comparing the vision supported by advanced maintenance systems, through the concepts of E-maintenance, Internet of Things and Cyber Physical Systems, with the evidences on the state of practices collected based on a sample of more than 300 industrial plants, we come up with a reflection on the advancement of maintenance management towards Smart Maintenance.
