The global automotive industry, a thriving economic powerhouse and epicenter of research and development, is increasingly focused on advancing safety for both vehicle occupants and pedestrians. While the rising number of vehicles offers unprecedented mobility and convenience, it has also led to alarming urban air pollution levels. To combat this, many countries are actively promoting the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs). EVs are hailed for their remarkable efficiency in reducing oil consumption and gas emissions, positioning them as a promising solution for future road transportation. However, the EV landscape is marred by substantial diversity among manufacturers, particularly concerning battery capacities and types, range of vehicles and charger types. This lack of standardization has created a pressing need for advanced data and knowledge management methods. In response, this paper focuses on the development of an ontology tailored specifically to the domain of EVs. This ontology aims to enhance reusability and interoperability, fostering seamless information, integration and collaboration across various EV-related applications and systems. By doing so, it propels the EV industry toward greater improvement in the years ahead. The framework that was utilized for the development of the EV Ontology (EVO) was Protege, employing the Web Ontology Language (OWL) for standardized knowledge representation. The competence of the EVO is evaluated through SPARQL queries. Furthermore, the ontology is enriched by a Python script that scrapes data from web-based EV databases. Finally, a user interaction Python script is implemented that lets users interact with the ontology with personalized SPARQL queries.

X.509 Public Key Infrastructures (PKIs) are widely used for managing X.509 Public Key Certificates (PKCs) to allow for secure communications and authentication on the Internet. PKCs are issued by a trusted third-party Certification Authority (CA), which is responsible for verifying the certificate requester's information. Recent developments in web PKI show a high proliferation of Domain Validated (DV) certificates but a decline in Extended Validated (EV) certificates, indicating poor authentication of the entities behind web services. The ACME protocol facilitates the deployment of Web Certificates by automating their management. However, it is only limited to DV certificates. This paper proposes an enhancement to the ACME protocol for automating all types of Web X.509 PKCs by using W3C Verifiable Credentials (VCs) to assert a requester's claims. We argue that any CA's requirements for issuing a PKC can be expressed as a set of VCs, returned in a Verifiable Presentation (VP). We propose a generic communication workflow to request and present VPs, and provide proof-of-concept of the viability of our approach.

Voice assistants, alternatively mentioned as conversational agents or Digital Intelligent Assistants (DIA), represent a new form of interaction between humans and machines, providing fast, intuitive, and potentially hands-free access to systems through voice-based interaction in order to increase the efficiency of certain activities. While the literature has mainly focused on general applications of voice assistants in diverse industries, their potential in manufacturing remains mostly underexplored. This is despite the manufacturing sector is a key driver for employment and plays a critical role in economic growth. Furthermore, enabling human workers to interact with data analytics insights through voice interfaces is key to realize a human-system symbiosis in an Industry 5.0 context. However, there is limited literature regarding the data analytics potential integrated into voice assistants and related implementations due to, among others, the challenges of translating analytical results into easy-to-understand information for humans. In this paper, we face these topical issues for DIA by presenting a voice assistant equipped with data analytics functionalities to support human-machine interaction in the manufacturing sector when there are data analytics insights that are communicated to the user. We demonstrate this with a concrete instantiation in Electric Vehicle's (EV) battery testing use cases.

The Android operating system's dominance in the smartphone market cements its pivotal role in shaping contemporary connectivity and technological innovation, with the rate of application development increasing at an unprecedented rate. However, this rapid growth also presents challenges, as malicious actors exploit vulnerabilities to infiltrate systems with malware, posing substantial threats to individual users and organizations. Security experts continuously develop strategies and methods to address these challenges. However, the evolving nature of these attacks presents ongoing challenges to security measures aimed at detecting emerging malware. While deep learning methods offer promise by leveraging multi-level features for more adaptive malware detection, many existing approaches focus primarily on high-level features such as permissions and data flow, potentially limiting their longterm efficacy. To gain a deeper understanding of the nature of these attacks, it is crucial for existing approaches to pay more attention to the essential structural and semantic aspects of Android applications. We propose a multi-level technique utilizing graph-based representations to capture high-level structural information effectively. We extract detailed source-level information by integrating pre-trained large language models (LLMs), learning deeper syntax and semantic features. Combining both, we attribute the graph-based representation of Android applications with source-level features. Leveraging graph convolutional neural networks, we comprehensively process and analyze these graphs. Our proposed methods demonstrate superior results compared to existing and baseline approaches. This work offers an innovative approach to understanding malware at high structural, low source, and semantic levels, enhancing cybersecurity defenses against evolving threats in the dynamic landscape of Android security.

Autonomous vehicles have been announced as innovative solutions for transport with the potential for changes in the transport of cargo and passengers. The objective of this paper is to analyze the challenges of vehicle automation adoption to mitigate traffic accidents. To do so, a literature review was conducted, and the implications were verified in the light of the Brazilian case. The results suggest that the country has great potential to benefit from the implementation of autonomous vehicles since it has a large number of traffic accidents caused by human error, such as distraction, tiredness, and recklessness, among others. However, the literature indicated that the barriers to the implementation of autonomous cars refer to;the need for improvements in obstacle detection by autonomous vehicles;users' perception regarding the adoption of this technology;questions about the interaction between pedestrians and drivers;cost competitiveness of vehicles;as well as the need of improvement in road safety and reduction of accidents.

This paper combines the author's evaluative datasets with nascent literature on rural gambling, to come to a narrative about a worsening epidemic of online gambling disorders in the rural Global South. The paper posits that the rapid spread of mobile money enabled gambling companies to penetrate ever deeper into regions they could not previously access. This has generated a significant and growing flow of money from rural regions to distant companies, and a wave of gambling disorders among rural men. There is evidence that online gambling is increasingly affecting rural women as well. The offer is enormous and it is available 24/7, from the privacy of one's home. Regulation is rudimentary and restrictions are ineffective. In most rural regions harm-reduction support is not available. Online gambling is likely to be the next major silent killer in the rural Global South.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can be classified as a psychiatric condition which is characterised by persistent intrusive thoughts, to be called obsessions, and repetitive behaviours and mental acts, to be called compulsions. Recent studies have linked OCD to increased methylation of the oxytocin receptor (OXTR) gene which potentially impacts OCD-linked social and emotional behaviours. Options to treat OCD include cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). Challenges to these treatment options exist due to some individuals not responding well to SSRIs. The paper introduces a hypothetical treatment option to restore OXTR functionality. The research focuses on epigenetics in OCD and presents simulations involving DNA methylation changes. In the first presented scenario OCD development is shown triggered by childhood trauma. Scenario two introduces an epigenetic therapy to counteract the OCD symptoms by demethylating the OXTR gene. The simulated hypothetical therapy shows the potential to relieve OCD symptoms. Epigenetic drugs used in diseases like cancer, do indeed suggest potential for usage in other disorders like OCD.

The digital supply chain, a complex web of actors and interactions, is vital for reliable and efficient operations. This study examines the factors contributing to reliability within the digital supply chain ecosystem, focusing on actors in the electric power industry, their relationships, and cybersecurity considerations. Drawing on existing literature and 17 semi-structured interviews with key actors in the Norwegian power industry, this study identifies pivotal roles that shape this ecosystem. These roles include the Dominator, Orchestrator, Intermediary, First responder, Threat actor and Supervisor. This study highlights the significance of acknowledging both the influence and control exerted by Dominators and the diverse nature of Orchestrators who coordinate ecosystem activities. Additionally, this study underscores the importance of recognising the role of threat actors and the significant power held by suppliers, often acting as dominators, within the digital supply chain ecosystem. This understanding significantly enhances the reliability and security of the digital supply chain in the context of cybersecurity risks.

Slow HTTP DoS (SHD) is a type of DoS attack based on HTTP/HTTPS. SHD traffic at the application layer may be encrypted. Besides, the interval between packets can reach tens of seconds or more due to its slow sending rate. Therefore, SHD is concealed for detection. The methods for detecting high-speed DoS are not suitable for detecting the attack, making detection for SHD a challenging problem. Some existing SHD detection methods are complex and computationally intensive, making it hard to meet the demand for real-time in backbone networks. In addition, most of these methods are based on bidirectional traffic and do not consider the asymmetry of routing on the Internet. In this paper, based on the traffic characteristics of the most common types of SHD, we extract several representative features from unidirectional flows. These features can still work well under sampling and asymmetric routing scenarios. We also use Slow HTTP DoS Sketch to record the features quickly and accurately. In experiments that used public backbone datasets as background traffic, the results show that even with a large number of unidirectional flows and a sampling rate of 1/64, our method can still accurately detect SHD traffic within 2 min.

Playing a key role in the nation's infrastructure development, construction industry has been studied extensively for several decades. However, there is a need of systemizing knowledge on construction logistics - a crucial element in improving performance of the industry. Combining multiple case study and literature review methods, this research offers a comprehensive framework for construction logistics with construction logistics activities positioned throughout construction project phases. Additionally, it explores practical challenges in on-site and prefabricated construction logistics operation, through which offering valuable insights into areas to be further developed and suggesting improvement ideas for practitioners and policymakers in construction and similar Engineer-to-Order industries.
