Amidst the growing popularity of platform engineering, promising improved productivity and enhanced developer experience through an engineering platform, e.g., an Internal Developer Platform (IDP), this paper addresses the prevalent challenge of a lack of a shared understanding in the field and the complications in defining effective, customized strategies. Introducing a definitive Platform Engineering Reference Model (PE-RM) based on the Reference Model for Open Distributed processing (RM-ODP) framework to provide a common understanding. This model offers a structured framework for software organizations to create tailored platform engineering strategies and realize the full potential of platform engineering. By facilitating a shared vocabulary and providing a roadmap for implementation, this paper aims to mitigate prevailing complexities and accelerate the adoption and effectiveness of platform engineering across organizations, showcasing the added value.

Climate change risks permeate all economic sectors [1]. As Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives expand and reporting obligations adapt to the dynamic evolution of ESG, several challenges arise. There is a pressing demand for tools that address these ESG-related deficiencies, data infrastructure challenges, and technical constraints while enhancing domain expertise engagement. In our research, we design top-down architecture and framework to serve and satisfy ESG user requirements among jurisdictions and guide bottom-up ESG data infrastructure. In addition, we define the nature of the ESG analytic data pipeline, embedding models and metrics. Our contribution will lay on three aspects. First, our research shed light on sustainable financial systems' framework and architecture development, especially ESG services for decision-making and disclosure. Second, our ESG analytics data pipeline design assists ESG data infrastructure development. Last but not least, our research mitigates misrepresenting the ESG concept and fragmentation of ESG terminology.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a disruptive technology that allows connecting physical objects with the digital world. This challenges organizations in adjusting their Enterprise Architecture (EA) for adopting the IoT technology to improve their operations andmaximize their value. Considering the complexity of such changes, a suitable modelling language must be used for EA design and documentation. ArchiMate, being a de facto standard for EA modelling, has already been used for modelling IoT systems, however, it is not used in a consistent manner and different extensions have been proposed to address limitations identified in specific domains. Based on the most common practices reported in the literature, we propose and evaluate a set of guidelines for modelling IoT elements in ArchiMate. The guidelines are evaluated by performing qualitative research based on case studies. The evaluation shows that ArchiMate is suitable for modelling IoT systems, but only at the conceptual level. When technical details are required, extensions to the standard may be needed. In addition, domain-specific limitations such as the lack of showing time-based communication and redundancy in an industry context are identified.

The rapid advancements in digital technologies have paved the way for the development and utilization of digital twins that allow bridging the gap between physical systems and their virtual representations. This digital twin concept is gaining importance especially in the design of complex IoT and Cyber-Physical systems. At design time a digital twin can in fact be used to represent the to-be system reflecting its characteristics in the digital world and especially to conduct simulations before the system is actually implemented. This paper reports about an approach for the design and implementation of a Digital Twin Prototype for a project involving an IoT life-saving system designed to support the rescue operation of people during a seismic event. The approach as well as the software tool can be adopted to other IoT or Cyber-Physical systems.

The rapid development of digital technology has made the hybrid teaching mode combining online learning and face-to-face teaching a new learning paradigm. In this paper, we firstly sort out the background of the hybrid teaching mode of strategic management. Then from the ecological view, it constructs a hybrid teaching model dominated by the concept of student-centered value co-creation with digital technology as the soft foundation and teachers' professionalism as the hard foundation. Thirdly, the paper takes strategic management course for undergraduate students in context of digital transformation of Chinese education as an example to analyze the course organization of hybrid teaching model. It provides reference for the implementation of hybrid teaching of strategic management and related business courses.

Ethical considerations in software requirements engineering are a critical but often overlooked aspect of the software development process. However, requests for transparency and autonomy in the way IT artefacts are designed, described, used, applied and integrated in the everyday life are getting more pressing within the society. In this research, the process of software engineering is taken as an illustrative model for the proactive incorporation of ethical principles in the system design within the design of a software artefact. Specifically, the phase of requirements elicitation and analysis are expanded with ethical aspects, since that is where the first steps of the software construction as an artefact are initiated and the first common ground of understanding is achieved. Being rooted in the security engineering, the SQUARE process is expanded to provide a basic structure for incorporating of ethical aspects into software design. By doing so, the social and moral values become central to the design and development of new technologies.

Methods are important in information system development (ISD), but skills and knowledge of the participants in the project matter as well. The paper focuses on projects in the business environment, and the part of ISD that bridges the gap between the social world of the business organisation and the formal world of software development. In the theoretical part, research is discussed from quite diverse disciplines. The common factor is that all theories are in some way related to the creating, presenting and developing of new structures that will change the social environment. A case is presented for an application and analysis of the theoretical concepts, paying special attention to the importance of managing differing worldviews and different kinds of knowledge in a project. The paper shows how a design process is a complex of multiple interdependent learning cycles (a concept from Soft Systems Methodology), where different knowledge domains and different kinds of knowledge are involved. Different kinds of artefacts are involved in the coordination between the different learning cycles. An important group of artefacts has a life cycle that start as an empty shell with a suggestive name, evolving in subsequent cycles into formally and fully specified IT concepts. In the transition from the social world of business to the formal world of IT, social skills and knowledge about human behaviour is crucial in information system development.

Process-aware information Systems support the enactment of business processes, and rely on a model that prescribes which executions are allowed. As a result, the model needs to be sound for the process to be carried out. Traditionally, soundness has been defined and studied by only focusing on the control-flow. Some works proposed techniques to repair the process model to ensure soundness, ignoring data and decision perspectives. This paper puts forward a technique to repair the data perspective of process models, keeping intact the control flow structure. Processes are modeled by acyclic Data Petri Nets. Our approach repairs the Constraint Graph, a finite symbolic abstraction of the infinite state-space of the underlying Data Petri Net. The changes in the Constraint Graph are then projected back onto the Data Petri Net.

The object-centric process paradigm is increasingly gaining popularity in academia and industry. According to this paradigm, the process delineates through the parallel execution of different execution flows, each referring to a different object involved in the process. Object interaction is present, and takes place through bridging events where these parallel executions synchronize and exchange data. However, the complex intricacy of instances of such processes relating to each other via many-to-many associations makes a direct application of predictive process analytics approaches designed for single-id event logs impossible. This paper reports on the experience of comparing the predictions of two techniques based on gradient boosting or the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network against two based on graph neural networks. The four techniques were empirically evaluated on event logs related to two real object-centric processes, and more than 20 different KPI definitions. The results show that graph-based neural networks generally perform worse than techniques based on Gradient Boosting. Considering that graph-based neural networks have training times that are 8-10 times larger, the conclusion is that their use does not seem to be justified.

Amidst growing competition on evolving online health platforms, enhancing patient choice and doctor performance is increasingly crucial. This paper aims to explore the influence of service diversity and differentiation in doctor services on patient choice. After collecting data from the platform "HaoDF" and processing the data to screen for outliers, negative binomial regression was utilized for stepwise regression analysis, in which the moderating effects of the degrees of internal and external competition are also considered. The results show that service diversity, service differentiation and their interaction term all have a significant effect on patient's choice positively, with the degrees of internal and external competition enhancing their impacts. This study highlights that for doctors on online platforms, diversifying and differentiating services is key to attracting patients and outperforming in competitive settings, providing an important practical reference for doctors and online health platforms to attract more patients and maximize economic benefits.
