This paper explores novel forms of technological and digital societal innovation putting the full potential of the Future of Internet into Web-based innovation, web-Entrepreneurship and Internationalization (IEI) of businesses. It introduces an approach to extend and complement existing incubation environments, which are no longer sufficient to deal with the dynamicity of the Web-Entrepreneur. Based on personal and professional relations, and new business models empowered by social media and the Web 2.0, together with a set of interoperable ICT services supporting virtual or agile enterprises, the authors propose a federation of open-source platforms for the to-be born and existing enterprise life-cycle management, instantiating the Unified Digital Enterprise concept. The novel approach ensures full reuse of existing solutions, developing targeted research to support web-entrepreneurship with cooperation between people, businesses, and assets, namely focusing on innovative methods and architectures for competitive intelligence;crowd-based market sensing;idea incubation and simulation;knowledge intensive team building;as well as interoperability to enable internal federation and external platform integration.

In this paper, we focus on demand side management in consumer collectives with community owned renewable energy generation and storage facilities for effective integration of renewable energy with the existing fossil fuel-based power supply system. The collective buys energy as a group through a central coordinator who also decides about the storage and usage of renewable energy produced by the collective. Our objective is to design coordination algorithms to minimize the cost of electricity consumption of the consumer collective while allowing the consumers to make their own consumption decisions based on their private consumption constraints and preferences. Minimizing the cost is not only of interest to the consumers but is also socially desirable because it reduces the consumption at times of peak demand. We develop an iterative coordination algorithm in which the coordinator makes the storage decision and shapes the demands of the consumers by designing a virtual price signal for the agents. We prove that our algorithm converges, and it achieves the optimal solution under realistic conditions. We also present simulation results based on real world consumption data to quantify the performance of our algorithm.

During the long-term period of a nuclear disaster, people living in contaminated territories need to gain knowledge in order to take protective actions. While existing representations of this knowledge are designed for experts, we propose a thesaurus of radiation safety built for the lay people. We present a methodology to extract such a thesaurus from a set of documents addressed to non-experts. Extension of the corpus and implementation of more automated processes are still required to improve the resulting thesaurus.

Relationship quality dimensions like trust or commitment have been proven to be crucial determinants for the success of outsourcing arrangements. Most previous empirical studies focus on the success of relationship quality dimensions within a specific contextual outsourcing arrangement. We argue that the importance and formation of each relationship quality dimension highly depend on the contextual background of the particular study. To substantiate this contingency argument, we conducted 16 interviews with managers in different types of outsourcing arrangements and questioned them about their understanding of relationship quality. Linking managers' statements with their outsourcing background, we found several configurational patterns that describe the different roles of relationship quality for successful outsourcing.

As the interest in DevOps continues to grow, there is an increasing need for software organizations to understand how to adopt it successfully. This study has as objective to clarify the concept and provide insight into existing challenges of adopting DevOps. First, the existing literature is reviewed. A definition of DevOps is then formed based on the literature by breaking down the concept into its defining characteristics. We interview 13 subjects in a software company adopting DevOps and, finally, we present 11 impediments for the company's DevOps adoption that were identified based on the interviews.

In recent years, mobile and web-based solutions for health and wellbeing have become popular. The topic that has been covered the most has been the promotion of physical health, although the importance of mental and social well-being has also been acknowledged recently. Studies have shown that mental health interventions can be successfully designed to be delivered via mobile channels. However, the role of mobile applications in disease prevention and self-management of health is not so well understood. The aim of this study is to explore the need for stress-management solutions by studying the prevalence of health complaints in an academic organization (n = 756). It also describes findings from a field study exploring the user experience of a mobile coaching application for stress-management among the three most prevalent complaint groups (n = 30). The findings show that the three most prevalent complaints are tiredness, depression, and neck problems. All of the 13 complaints were more common among women than men, except loneliness and problems in social life. User experience study showed that most participants found the application useful and they would recommend it to other people. Use activity of the mobile coaching application was highest among the tiredness group. The findings are especially useful in the design new solutions for disease prevention and self-management of health.

The main objective of this communication is to present and discuss the need, for partners, to suitable interoperability solution according to their expectations. High frequency trading (HFT) in micro or milliseconds has recently drawn attention of financial researches and engineers. In nowadays algorithmic trading and HFT account for a dominant part of overall trading volume. The main objective of this research is to test statistical arbitrage strategy in HFT natural gas futures market. The arbitrage strategy attempts to profit by exploiting price differences between successive futures contracts of the same underlying asset. It takes long/short positions when the spread between the contracts widens;hoping that the prices will converge back in the near future. In this study high frequency bid/ask and last trade records were collected from NYMEX exchange. The strategy was back tested applying MatLab software of technical computing. Statistical arbitrage and HFT has given positive results and refuted the efficient market hypothesis. The strategy can be interesting to financial engineers, market microstructure developers or market participants implementing high frequency trading strategies.

Elaboration and implementation of effective educational simulations systems requires a great effort in the field of multimedia, collaboration and communications components development, and thus significant funding. For this purpose, a relevant questionnaire was developed to measure the priority of proposed 19 factors in teaching simulations. The survey was conducted among 172 participants of business simulation project - Case Simulator. The results of questionnaire, presented in the second part of the article indicate which factors are the most important, such as teamwork during simulation realization supported with suitable communication tools, and competition based on rankings. They also highlight which components are optional and do not have a significant impact on simulations realization efficiency. Such knowledge is crucial during decision-making, which elements should be included in simulation system in the context of limited time and financial resources. Research results served as a starting point to develop presented in the third part of the paper, methodology for elaborating effective simulations with inclusion of components priority view. The solution has a form of a Model for Effective Simulation Development and Implementation (MESDI) with highlighted components priority that act as principles for choosing them during simulation development.

In context-aware service-based environments, fulfilling user's recommendations bring about several challenges that are mainly due to the dynamic nature and limited underlying resources of these environments. In this paper, we mainly focus on the transactional aspects of context-aware services. To cope with the aforementioned issues, we opt for a middleware-based solution (MiCATS). We therefore present our novel approach for managing context-aware transactions which allows for adaptation to the requirements of applications and mobile context in terms of transactional properties. Then, we introduce our context-aware transactional service model (CATSM) and a context-aware architecture based on adaptation policies. The proposed contributions are implemented within a middleware platform.
