The Internet of Things is going to digitize traditional manufacturing plants. Apart from being as functional and robust as ever, products required to run these plants will need to be smart and connected. They will have software inside. Producing companies monitor their manufacturing excellence related to these products by evaluating manufacturing performance figures such as delivery time and yield. However, for the time being, no figures for the software inside are measured with similar means. Software performance figures have been investigated a lot in software research and in the IT industry. However, as they are software domain-oriented they are difficult to understand for leading managing minds of producing companies. This article demonstrates that it is reasonable to apply manufacturing performance figures to measure software development excellence. This is a valuable element ensuring future business success of producing companies by enabling their managers to control excellence in software development processes.

This paper describes our exploratory approach to enable and sustain the environments-oriented creation of services as common goods. We first discuss the characteristics of services, which allow them to be envisaged as engines of innovation and we study the role of economy of contribution in this innovative development. Second, we present an approach supporting the collaborative innovation-oriented work of actors from multiple domains, which facilitates concretizing services. This is achieved by virtue of "Tiers-Lieu", collaborative environments of service innovation, where services are envisaged as common goods. To illustrate the organization of Tiers-Lieu, we present its conceptual framework, and discuss an example from the domain of mHealth. The paper is concluded with the perspectives of the ongoing work for contributive development within service society.

Commercially provided electronic services commonly operate on top of a complex, highly-interconnected infrastructure, which provides a multitude of entry points for attackers. Providers of e-services also operate in dynamic, highly competitive markets, which provides fertile ground for fraud. Before a business idea to provide commercial e-services is implemented in practice, it should therefore be analysed on its fraud potential. This analysis is a risk assessment process, in which risks are ordered on severity and the unacceptable ones are mitigated. Mitigations may consist of changes in the e-service network to reduce the attractiveness of fraud for the fraudster, or changes in coordination process steps or IT architecture elements to make fraud harder or better detectable. We propose to use e(3) value business value models for the identification and quantification of risks associated with e-service packages. This allows for impact estimation as well as understanding the attacker's business cases. We show how the e(3) value ontology - with minimal extensions can be used to analyse known telecommunication fraud scenarios. We also show how the approach can be used to quantify infrastructure risks. Based on the results, as well as feedback from practitioners, we discuss the scope and limits of generalizability of our approach.

This paper focuses on how different aspects of social capital facilitate or prevent clan control in two related inter-organizational system (IOS) projects during the projects' four years life span. We observed the building of social ties in the projects and tried to understand how trust is build or destroyed in large teams, which are organizationally and physically separated, but need to work together for an extended period of time. The data for this qualitative study was collected from two large IOS projects. We analyzed how the social capital helps us to interpret the process of building clan control in an IOS project. We found out that clan control is difficult to achieve and the organizations need to be aware of ways of building social capital and be able to build and maintain social capital across organizational borders to succeed in such projects.

The purpose of this research is to understand consumer participation on companies' brand microblogs. We propose a research model to explain that such participation may be a positive consequence of consumers' brand attachment process. That is, consumers' perceived self-congruence and partner quality may influence their trust and commitment toward brands. Trust and commitment further affect participation on brand microblogs. We empirically examine our research hypotheses using an online survey. The results show that self-congruence and partner quality positively affect trust and commitment. Trust has significant effects on commitment and participation, while commitment also affects participation. Our findings provide insights on user participation behavior in a social computing context, while practitioners may apply our findings for brand building and to understand consumer participation in similar contexts.

In this position paper we argue against the application of universal quality criteria for the visual notation of modeling languages. Instead, we make a point that (1) the cognitive capabilities that modelers have, and (2) the different cognitive requirements placed on them while modeling specific aspects (e.g., processes, goals, regulations) mean that a visual notation should be optimal for a specific modeling effort, and not a best-for-everyone solution. We clarify this point by giving an example of a modeling effort where this comes into play, and propose a research agenda that can set out to deal with these issues.

Approximately 60 % of the world's workforce is currently employed by either public or private branches of the Service Sector and this value rises to 80 % in developed countries. There is also a tendency towards constant growth in the Service Sector at an international level, with people working in a broad spectrum of areas such as tourism, commerce, logistics, finance, insurance and community, social and personal services. However, and in spite of the fact that society increasingly needs more professionals who are oriented towards this sector, there are hardly any specific training plans for service professionals. This paper presents a comparative analysis about training programs in Service Science Management and Engineering (SSME). This comparative analysis was made during the definition and creation of a new curriculum for training of professionals in SSME which will be taught at the Rey Juan Carlos University, in Madrid, Spain, from the next academic year onwards. The degree is briefly described in this paper and analyzed in the comparative analysis.

Research collaboration in a globalized world has become one of the most important challenges for higher-education today. Collaboration between researchers all over the world is still an intricate and difficult challenge, which is the motive for this study that aims at filling this gap in the field of social science research. Based on the review of the literature, we propose a conceptual framework for designing a cyberinfrastructure to promote the collaboration among researchers across institutions. We present an example to illustrate the application of the framework that supports international collaboration between a research laboratory in a developed country and its partners in developing countries. Future work and research directions are also suggested in order to apply and extend the framework at a broader scale.

Enterprises are complex live organisms of humans and networked machines including diverse types of computational devices. Enterprise interoperability promotes the interaction between companies based in the interoperability between such companies and between devices and services inside the company. Knowledge management is another important aspect that is extensively observed in the dynamic enterprise ecosystem. It is understandable that studies make different types of assessment for machines and people. In this sense we can ask on the interest of studying humans along machines in the chain of collaboration inside the Enterprise Interoperability Ecosystem. What we propose is to establish measures that promote interoperability between computational devices and humans, at the same time that we can promote interoperability between humans using computational devices to interact between each other.
