The core idea behind combining knowledge graph-based AI and machine learning is to formalize explicit knowledge as a knowledge base, which does not need to be learned, and to consider it in machine learning. Interactive machine learning provides an alternative to explicit knowledge modeling to include feedback from human experts in order to adapt and improve learned models. For semantic process analysis, we have developed an explainable AI approach based on a specific knowledge graph that delivers interpretable results about weaknesses and improvement potentials in business processes. In the present paper we show how interactive machine learning can extend the knowledge graph with human implicit knowledge. The knowledge graph does not solely rely on the initially created knowledge elements and defined calculation formulas, but learns incrementally at the time of user feedback by making small adjustments in the graph.

The provision of public services (PS) is at the heart of public authority operations as it directly affects citizens' lives and the prosperity of society. Part of PS provision is publishing PS descriptions in online catalogues to inform citizens and promote transparency. The European Union has developed the Core Public Service Vocabulary Application Profile (CPSV-AP) as a PS data model to facilitate PS catalogue creation and promote semantic interoperability. The use of CPSV-AP is increasing within the European Union leading to a number of relevant PS descriptions that are also potentially beneficial for the implementation of the Single Digital Gateway (SDG) regulation. However, the use of heterogeneous, some times not very popular technologies (e.g. RDF) to provide access to such data hinders their further uniform exploitation. Towards this problem definition, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) can provide a uniform, easily-consumable way of serving such data hiding any heterogeneity of the underlying technologies. The aim of this paper is to design and implement an API to serve data based on CPSV-AP facilitating the implementation of the SDG and the further exploitation of data at added value services and tools e.g. chatbots. The paper describes the requirements, use cases, design choices and implementation details of the API. We anticipate that the proposed API will help towards the further adoption of CPSV-AP by facilitating and homogenizing the consumption of relevant data.

In recent years, hospitals and other care providers in the Netherlands are coping with a widespread nursing shortage and a directly related increase in nursing workload. This nursing shortage combined with the high nursing workload is associated with higher levels of burnout and reduced job satisfaction among nurses. However, not only the nurses, but also the patients are affected as an increasing nursing workload adversely affects patient safety and satisfaction. Therefore, the aim of this research is to predict the care acuity corresponding to an individual patient for the next admission day, by using the available structured hospital data of the previous admission days. For this purpose, we make use of an LSTM model that is able to predict the care acuity of the next day, based on the hospital data of all previous days of an admission. In this paper, we elaborate on the architecture of the LSTM model and we show that the prediction accuracy of the LSTM model increases with the increase of the available amount of historical event data. We also show that the model is able to identify care acuity differences in terms of the amount of support needed by the patient. Moreover, we discuss how the predictions can be used to identify which patient care related characteristics and different types of nursing activities potentially contribute to the care acuity of a patient.

Predictive process monitoring techniques leverage machine learning (ML) to predict future characteristics of a case, such as the process outcome or the remaining run time. Available techniques employ various models and different types of input data to produce accurate predictions. However, from a practical perspective, explainability is another important requirement besides accuracy since predictive process monitoring techniques frequently support decision-making in critical domains. Techniques from the area of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) aim to provide this capability and create transparency and interpretability for black-box ML models. While several explainable predictive process monitoring techniques exist, none of them leverages textual data. This is surprising since textual data can provide a rich context to a process that numerical features cannot capture. Recognizing this, we use this paper to investigate how the combination of textual and non-textual data can be used for explainable predictive process monitoring and analyze how the incorporation of textual data affects both the predictions and the explainability. Our experiments show that using textual data requires more computation time but can lead to a notable improvement in prediction quality with comparable results for explainability.

Models play a significant role in Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and metamodels are commonly transformed into code. Developers intensively rely on the generated code to build language services and tooling, such as editors and views which are also tested to ensure their behavior. The metamodel evolution between releases updates the generated code, and this may impact the developers' additional, client code. Accordingly, the impacted code must be co-evolved too, but there is no guarantee of preserving its behavior correctness. This paper envisions an automatic approach for ensuring code co-evolution correctness. It first aims to trace the tests impacted by the metamodel evolution before and after the code co-evolution, and then compares them to analyze the behavior of the code. Preliminary evaluation on two implementations of OCL and Modisco Eclipse projects. Showed that we can successfully traced the impacted tests automatically by selecting 738 and 412 tests, before and after co-evolution respectively, based on 303 metamodel changes. By running these impacted tests, we observed both behaviorally correct and incorrect code co-evolution.

Centralised warehouses are a widespread practice in the healthcare supply chain, as they allow for the storage of large quantities of products a short distance from hospitals and pharmacies, allowing both a reduction in warehouse costs and prompt replenishment in case of shortages. However, for this practice to lead to effective optimization, warehouses need to be equipped with efficient order fulfillment and picking strategies, as well as a storage policy that takes into account the specific procedures of the various types of items, necessary to preserve their quality. In this framework, we present a storage location assignment problem with product-cell incompatibility and isolation constraints, modeling goals and restrictions of a storage policy in a pharmaceutical warehouse. In this problem, the total distance that order pickers travel to retrieve all required items in a set of orders must be minimised. An Iterated Local Search algorithm is proposed to solve the problem, numerical experiments based on simulated data are presented, and a detailed procedure is provided on how to retrieve and structure the warehouse layout input data. The results show a dramatic improvement over a greedy full turnover procedure commonly adopted in real-life operations.

Blockchain governance has emerged as a research topic with the introduction of blockchain technology that allows for collaboration without a centralized actor. This offers a unique opportunity to examine alternative structures for platform governance and to develop a theory around governance structures for disruptive ecosystems. In the past years, we have been working on developing DECENT a domain specific language (DSL) that allows for designing decentralized governance from a conceptual modeling perspective. An important subset of the DSL is the DECENT meta model. In this paper, we explore if we can formalize the DECENT meta model from a mathematical perspective. The formalization of DECENT meta model will contribute to our long-term research goal to develop a graphical visualization of the DECENT meta model by using ADOxx and to work towards computational governance.

This study investigates how capability maps, an Enterprise Architecture artifact, can support digital transformation and for what purposes. Despite their potential, there is currently a lack of literature on the topic. The study uses the technique of a semi-structured interview in a case study to explore the role of capability mapping in planning and executing digital transformation. The results indicate that the practice of capability mapping can play a valuable role in different phases of digital transformation. The study also provides relevant insights for organizations looking to leverage capability maps as a tool for improving their digital transformation initiatives. This is realized by describing use cases derived from the case study.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its global actions have emphasized the importance of more detailed clinical data for studies of diseases and their effects. However, collecting and processing these data and publishing them according to rules defined by the responsible institutions is challenging. This paper addresses a modular, scalable, distributed, and flexible platform to promote such processing and publication in a FAIR manner. In addition, we describe approaches adopted to automate the FAIRification phase activities. A proposal for a FAIR Data Point on the cloud is also presented, aiming to improve the scalability of the metadata repository.

One of the salient features of Industry 4.0 is that machines and other actors involved in the manufacturing process provide Industrial APIs that allow to inquire their status. In order to provide resilience, the manufacturing process should be able to automatically adapt to new conditions, considering new actors for the fulfillment of the manufacturing goals. As a single manufacturing process may include several of these actors, and their interfaces are often complex, this task cannot be easily accomplished in a completely manual way. In this work, we focus on the orchestration of Industrial APIs using Markov Decision Processes (MDPs). We present a tool implementing stochastic composition of processes and we demonstrate it in an Industry 4.0 scenario.
