The demand of automating mundane user tasks in business processes has been accelerated recently. There's a growing interest in making Robotic Process Automation more intelligent by embedding richer explicit knowledge in robotic reasoning and User Experience procedural knowledge can become a key enabler for this. The paper reports on a Design Science Research project introducing Knowledge Graphs to connect User Experience processes with contextual resources from enterprise repositories in order to feed procedural bots. This paper addresses a need to manage procedural knowledge pertaining to the User Experience that must be mimicked in RPA projects. It does this by capturing and exploiting semantic links of front-end usage processes across a semantic repository of such processes. This is deployed as a demonstrator that introduces an intermediary navigation layer over an RDF graph persisted from an RPA-focused UX diagrammatic language that operates very close to the business domain. The demonstrator highlights the benefits of a semantic graph view on User Experience and the associated context. It simulates the robotic process of realizing a task where UI elements, external files and programs need to be called during process execution therefore they must be traceable from User Experience steps. Linking the visual appearance of GUI elements and file/data resources as knowledge for procedural execution turns this into a domain-specific process modeling and management approach.

Cybersecurity is a fundamental aspect of socio-technical systems. Unfortunately, the price to pay for a secure system is an overhead of computational power and, therefore, of energy consumption. With the last global events, energy consumption is not anymore a secondary effect but should become a relevant driver of decisions on the security measures to implement. Thus, the design of security policies for socio-technical systems should consider energy consumption to carefully choose security measures to deploy. Security policies identify the security objectives of actors in socio-technical systems, the security measures that enforce them, and the business processes affected by these measures. In this direction, the goal of this paper is to propose a method for the energy-aware design of security policies. An estimation of the energy consumption of security goals will be calculated to allow the definition of security policies considering their energy consumption.

The enterprise-wide semantic layer is the Holy Grail of data management. Unlike a data lake or data warehouse, semantic layers promise to democratize access across an organization. Traditional implementations tailor to specific application domains and require significant upfront investment and development to associate semantics to the underlying data. In this paper, we present a new technical analysis and design method that standardizes and simplifies the development of enterprise semantic layers. Our approach provides semantics via an ontology that is modeled in the Object-Role Modeling language. The layer then conforms to this ontology and is populated by weaving source data from physical data assets into the ontology using a relational knowledge graph.

In this article, we develop an interdisciplinary analysis of MEV which desires to merge the gap that exists between technical and legal research supporting policymakers in their regulatory decisions concerning blockchains, DeFi and associated risks. Consequently, this article is intended for both technical and legal audiences, and while we abstain from a detailed legal analysis, we aim to open a policy discussion regarding decentralized governance design at the block building layer - as the place where MEV occurs. Maximal Extractable Value or MEV has been one of the major concerns in blockchain designs as it creates a centralizing force which ultimately affects user's transactions. In this article, we dive into the technicality behind MEV, where we explain the concept behind the novel Proposal Builder Separation design (PBS) as an effort by Flashbots to increase decentralization through modularity. We underline potential vulnerability factors under the PBS design, which open space for MEV extracting adversarial strategies by inside participants. We discuss the shift of trust from validators to builders in PoS blockchains such as Ethereum, acknowledging the impact that the later ones may have on users' transactions (in terms of front-running) and censorship resistance (in terms of transaction inclusion). We recognize that under PBS, centralized (dominant) entities such as builders could potentially harm users by extracting MEV via front-running strategies. Finally, we suggest adequate design and policy measures which could potentially mitigate these negative effects while protecting blockchain users.

An important "building block" for an organization's digital maturity seems to be the implementation of platforms. In general, platforms as software or hardware infrastructures through which users and organizations can create applications, services, and communities, can trigger so-called network effects. These effects act as a catalyst for the organization's digitalmaturity, by positively impacting key factors such as IT infrastructure, collaboration or innovation within the firm. The importance of implementing platforms for organizations pursuing the goal of raising their digital maturity is thus widely accepted. However, there is a lack of knowledge concerning the type of platforms that is beneficial for an organization's desired digital transformation. Based on the qualitative content analysis of 24 Digitalmaturity models (DMMs) that are frameworks prescribing key elements and a model path for an organization's digital maturity, we establish a first comprehensive overview of ten different platform types relevant for digital maturity. The most prominent types are: IT-Infrastructure, collaboration, and value chain platforms. Using an established framework, we were able to classify the differing platform concepts into "platforms with selectively open interfaces" and "platforms with N-sided market infrastructures". Based on these insights, we derive a first working definition of the term platform in the context of digital maturity. We thus contribute to the advancement of both research fields and their overlap. Furthermore, we offer managers guidance in the interpretation and application of DMMs - in due consideration of different platform types.

Customer journey analysis is important for organizations to get to know as much as possible about the main behavior of their customers. This provides the basis to improve the customer experience within their organization. This paper addresses the problem of predicting the occurrence of a certain activity of interest in the remainder of the customer journey that follows the occurrence of another specific activity. For this, we propose the HIAP framework which uses process mining techniques to analyze customer journeys. Different prediction models are researched to investigate which model is most suitable for high importance activity prediction. Furthermore the effect of using a sliding window or landmark model for (re)training amodel is investigated. The framework is evaluated using a health insurance real dataset and a benchmark data set. The efficiency and prediction quality results highlight the usefulness of the framework under various realistic online business settings.

Data visualization is an essential method for analyzing big data. Regarding the increasing demands on data visualization generation and understanding, more professional knowledge and skills are required, which are difficult to meet in practice. In most cases, people visualize data using existing templates which might not fit their requirements. We believe that it is essential to establish the connections between users' visualization requirements and visualization solutions. In this paper, we propose a four-layer visualization framework to systematically and automatically map user requirements to data visualization solutions. Specifically, the framework is designed based on typical visual features and attributes and establishes mappings based on their semantics. Based on this framework, we have implemented a web-based prototype, which can automate the generation of visualization solutions from user visualization requirements. To evaluate the framework, we conducted a case study with one participant using the developed prototype and received positive feedback and suggestions.

Enterprise architecture (EA) modeling gives an opportunity to have an overview of the enterprise architecture supporting business-IT alignment within the rapidly changing environment. Visual representation of enterprise architecture models is appropriate for interpretation by humans. Machines, however, cannot interpret labels associated with the model element, as well as its domain-specific concepts. To make EA models machine-interpretable, a graphical representation of models shall be connected to domain knowledge. This research demonstrates an approach to enriching the EA model of a medical institution with healthcare domain knowledge. Evaluation of the developed solution proves that a human and a machine could equally understand the ontology-based EA model.

Regulatory bodies, driven by enhanced speed of digital transformations, seek to strengthen the resilience of information and communication technologies (ICT) to ensure their operational integrity. As a result, The Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) was recently proposed to unify and enhance ICT risk management of financial institutions by recommending stricter rules. ICT risk management has to date been mainly governed by ISO 27001:2013 standard in the context of information security governance. Based on qualitative content analysis, we firstly mapped ISO 27001:2013 to DORA and identified nine gaps in ISO 27001:2013 in relation to six general DORA requirements. While we find sufficient support in academic literature for six of the nine extensions suggested by DORA, three areas seem less supported: Threat-led penetration testing, major incident management, and ICT third-party risk management. We argue that these topics should serve academic interest to further our understanding of digital operational resilience in theory and practice.

The evolution of information systems and technologies (IS/IT) has driven a fundamental transformation of services and processes within various types of organizations. Specifically, technologies such as AI, virtual reality, augmented reality, big data, drones, cloud, 3D printers and IoT have originated the phenomenon in literature known as digital transformation. Digital transformation (DT) is a strategic, organization-wide approach that brings together process, technology and people. It is not just a matter of technological investment, but of considering improved ways of implementing the organisation's mission, rethinking its core functions to benefit from digital. Over the last decades, museums have also been committed to digital innovation, although at a slower pace than other sectors, so that today many museums are still far from reaching a high level of digital maturity. In such circumstances, the strategic planning of DT and the right leadership for deploying digital projects, are crucial to establish guidelines, objectives and strategic projects that support the achievement of museum's mission and enhance their relevance in today's society. In order to explore such a strategic approach, theMuseu de Ciencies Naturals de Barcelona (MCNB) and the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) are cooperating in an applied research project, approved and funded by the Industrial Doctorate Programme of the Generalitat de Catalunya, resulting in a method for the strategic planning of DT initiatives in Natural History Museums, as well as the first DT plan for the collections area of the MCNB.
